________
Pepper's cheeks grew rosy. "Mr. Stark, I will be looking forward to it." She moved closer to him and gave him another kiss before pulling away from his grasp and beginning to walk away from him.
Tony was unable to refrain from watching till she disappeared from his line of sight.
"Done!" It was announced by Shuri. She finally pulled herself away from the holographic screen she had been working from, and a weary smile crossed her face as she did so. At the same time, the machines that had been hovering over Vision's head retracted back into their respective holders. She took a few steps back and then turned her head to gaze at Vision from below.
"I believe that we will be able to move the Stone. It shouldn't be attached to any of his neurons, and it shouldn't be connected to any of his connective networks.
Tony moved forward with his walk. "Perhaps it would be more efficient if we did not use our hands to remove it? These Stones have a tremendous amount of power. Even if some of them are less toxic than others, handling them can be risky.
Shuri made a grab for a miniature set of silver-colored tweezers. "Would these be sufficient?"
Tony acknowledged that it "should be." He moved back till he was standing next to Natasha. "Here we go."
Shuri used great caution as she encircled the Mind Stone with the tweezers. "Are you ready?" she inquired, turning her attention to Wanda.
The other person responded, "I am." Wanda's fingertips emanated little flecks of electricity that danced in the air.
Natasha's question was tinged with apprehension when she inquired, "Are you certain that everything is now working collectively?"
"Yes," was the reassuring response from Shuri. "Taking this away shouldn't have any negative impact on Vision at all. Since he is artificial in nature, having been born into a synthetic body built from Vibranium, and is considered to be an android in some sense, I have the ability to bring him back online if removing the Stone causes him to become inoperable. I have archived his cell activities and data and have made backups up until this point. On the other hand, I do not think it will be necessary for me to rely on these data. Your consciousness shouldn't be connected to the Stone anymore, but you are still here, which suggests that the entirety of your consciousness wasn't completely linked to the Stone. Since you are healthy and unharmed, this indicates that you have successfully broken the connection. It's possible that your consciousness has been growing more distinct ever since you were born, as you've progressed and gained a better understanding of the world around you.
"It appears to be a workable hypothesis," Vision responded.
"Are you prepared for the Stone to be taken away?" Shuri inquired. He had already said in the affirmative, but this moment represented the very last opportunity for them to withdraw from this agreement.
Do it, Vision gave his approval.
Tony continued by saying, "Wanda, get ready." It was unnecessary for him to inform her because she was already aware of it.
Shuri positioned the two sides around the Stone very carefully with the tweezers, and then she pulled very carefully.
The Stone became dislodged from its position in Vision's forehead, where it had been for some time.
"Vision, how are you doing these days?" As Shuri passed past Natasha, she asked her to lay the brightly glowing Stone on the polished surface of the workbench that was located next to Wanda.
"Are you experiencing some minor shifts... Not nearly as powerful as I used to be." Vision stood up and slowly traced the outline of the spot where the Mind Stone had been sitting with his fingers. He then sat back down. "Perhaps I have evolved into a more human form? less developed than I was when I first started?
Natasha gently responded, "Well, we did theorise that this would be what would happen to you." "Well," she emphasised, "we did theorise." "The Stone is the source of your abilities. It's possible that you've lost your skills now that it's been removed and is no longer connected to you.
"Reasonable." Vision threw his legs over the table as he fixed his eyes on Wanda as she moved towards the workbench located on the opposite side of the room.
Tony walked around the bench in the same direction as Wanda and placed his palms on it before looking up at Wanda.
She uttered the words "I can do this" under her breath. "I can do this."
Tony's response was that "you can." "Focus. Try not to overexert yourself. Take your time, and gradually build up the intensity of the activity."
Wanda acknowledged with a nod and gestured with her right hand. Her fingertips were active, as crimson energy rippled across them and flowed forth in the direction of the Stone.
Tony retreated a few paces and brought his hand up to shield his eyes from the dazzling light produced by Wanda's powers as they grew more powerful over time. He did this as she gradually increased the amount of power she possessed. As she pushed herself to increase her abilities to a level that was within safe limits, her face started to flush.
Wanda repositioned her feet, which helped her maintain a more stable balance as she added the strength from her other hand to the force emanating from her fingertips.
As the temperature continued to rise, the Mind Stone began to radiate a bright light, and microscopic fissures began to form all over its surface.
Tony motioned for everyone to take a few steps back, and he instructed the people in the laboratory to stand with their backs against the wall.
The majority of Shuri's work was safely secured in place, which, fingers crossed, will avoid any damage to the work that she had been labouring on.
"Urgh!" As Wanda pushed herself harder, her hair began to fall out behind her and she showed signs of strain. "We're... almost there!" Because she was trying so hard to keep the flow going from her fingertips, her entire body was shaking.
The fissures that ran along the Stone became longer and deeper until finally breaking.
Wanda was sent backwards, sliding across the laboratory, rolling over, and landing on her back after being knocked over by a cosmic wave that erupted when the shards of the Stone flew in different directions.
As the rest of the wave crashed against them, it rocked violently and pushed everyone back against the wall for a moment before continuing on its way.
Stone fragments of all sizes fell to the ground, and Tony ran forward, bending down next to Wanda as he tried to pick them up. He flipped her over carefully while reaching out for her.
She questioned, "Did I... do it?"
Tony nodded. "You did." While helping her to her feet, he pointed to the shattered pieces of the Stone that were lying on the ground. "It's history. One down."
Wanda raised herself to her feet. "Vision?"
"I'm alright, Wanda." Tony lent his support to her as Vision took a step towards her.
Wanda cracked a grin. "And you're… normal?"
"I am. I no longer possess any of the abilities I gained from the Stone. There will be no phasing, but I will remain me.
Wanda's throat suddenly broke out in a little chuckle. "I'm delighted you're safe." She turned to face Shuri. "Thank you."
The Princess of Wakanda flashed a grin. "I did all I could."
Tony continued by saying, "And it worked." "It's history. That is just what we required to take place.
Natasha came up to him while carrying a transparent plastic bag. "I've gathered the broken pieces of the Stone," I said.
"We ask that you please excuse us, Princess, Wanda, and Vision... It's important that Nat and I have a brief conversation right now." Tony escorted Natasha out of the laboratory and down the hallway as they left the building. "You've got this, Nat."
"I know. "I can't believe it's been this simple," was the response she gave. "I can't help but keep waiting for something bad to happen." She displayed the package in front of her that contained the pieces of the Mind Stone.
Tony snatched it away from her, cracked it open, and emptied the fragments into his hand. "Such insignificant things, but with the potential to change the world... We might call it a day now... One of them has been eliminated. Thanos will not be able to acquire all of them at this time."
"Perhaps not, but it would make me feel better if we were able to get all of them. We completely do away with the danger they posed." After taking a closer look at the shards that were held by Tony, Natasha's eyes grew wide as she reacted.
"Tony? The shattered pieces!
His hand was burning, and he could feel a slight tingling running up his fingers. As he focused his attention on the fragments of the Mind Stone, it appeared as though they were melting into his hand.
He shrieked, "What!" as he shook his hand, but the few shards that had not yet penetrated his palm did not come loose during the shaking. "What the hell is going on?"
As the last fragments of the shard sank into his skin, his palm began to glow with a bright yellow light. There was no trace left behind, simply a peculiar sensation that surged through his entire body and into his chest. "What?"
"If that isn't a sign, Tony…"
