23. The Calm Before The Storm.

Steve: "Put on the suit." - "Yeah."

Coms Fury: "Hill." -"External detonation. engine three is down.. Someboby has to get outside and patch that engine." - "Stark. You copy that?"

"I'm on it."

I looked at Steve. "Meet me at Engine." my suit formed around me as I fell through a portal next to the Engine. 

Okay let's see what we've got. I got to get this superconducting coolant system ack online , before I can access the rotors, to work on dislodging the debris.

Steve: "Stark. I'm here." - "Good. I need you to get to the engine control panel and tell me which relays are in overload position. "

I ripped through the broken side wall to get inside the turbine.

"What does it look like in there?" - "It seems to work on some type of electricity." - "Well, You're not wrong." man I should've got someone else to help.

as soon as I broke through to the center. 

Steve: "Okay. the relays are in tact. What's next?" - "Even if I clear these rotors they won't start without a jump start. I'm going to have to jump in and do it myself." - "Well If that thing gets up to speed, you will get shredded." - "That's when you come in. That stator control unit can reverse the polarity long enough for me to get out." - "Speak English."

I thought I dumbed it down enough for him already. "See the red lever to your right. It will slow the rotors down long enough for me to get out. Stand by it, and wait for my word, when it gets to speed I'll only have a few seconds to play with.

I quickly found the debris, then used a lazer to cut it. Then with {Bombarda.} the debris got pushed away.

When I got into position to push the rotors, the ship started to lose altitude a lot quicker.

Coms Fury: "Stark. We are losing altitude." - "Yeah. Noticed. I'll send help."

"Jarvis. Help, them."

A disk and Two pods started to grow from my back and shot away. The two pods are going to Turbine one to keep them moving, while the disk is going Inside to the bridge to have a hologram Jarvis help reboot the system.

Two trusters on the bottom of each boot light up pushing with more force then usual. I could push harder. Go faster. But the problem is I can't. Well if I do I run the risk of breaking the gears in the Turbine and then it really won't run by itself.

Right before I got it back up to speed. "Cap. Pull the lever." - "I need a minute." - "Lever, Now!"

The blade started to pull away from my hands so two more thrusters appeared on each of my calves, to make me faster.

"Any minute. Know what never mind." A blue portal appears in front of me and I fly through it leading to the outside of the turbine. I throw my hands out in front of me, stopping myself. Then I looked to the right to see captain being shot at. I flew at the enemy and tackled him to the ground, knocking him out.

After a second I got up to see if Steve is okay and that's when I felt horrible.

Coms Fury: "Agent Coulson is down."

Random agent: "Medical teams on its way." - "They're already here. They called it."

My suit flowed away and you can see my frowning face. But it's not because he died. It's because I let it happen. I need him to be revived. I need him to activate Sky, Daisy. Whatever she calls herself. Quake can be a very useful teammate.

Steve changed out of his uniform and we went back to the bridge and sat at the table.

Fury: "These were in Phil Coulson's jacket. I guess he never did get you to sign them." He threw the Captain America cards on the table between us. "We're dead in the air up here. Our communications, the location of the Cube, Banner, Thor.. I got nothing for you. I lost my one good eye. Maybe I had that coming. Yes, we were going to build a arsenal with the Tesseract. I never put all my chips on that number, though, because o was playing something even riskier. There was an idea, Stark knows this, called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could. Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea. In heros."

I stood up and walked out. I needed a breather. The hole Phil thing is getting to me. This is different then what I've been doing. With my knowledge, I'm playing god. I'm deciding who's living and dying, and who suffers. Killing is fine with. I've done it before, I did it in my past life. I'm used to it. But I've never intentionally let someone die who's good to just further my needs.

While I was over looking the shaft Thor fell down, trying to not let my thoughts get the best of me and how I want to play the next conversation Steve came in. "Did he have any family?" - "No. just a cellist. I overheard Pepper talking to him about it." - "I'm sorry. He seemed like a good man." - "He was. And it was his downfall." - "Why? For trying?" - "For taking on Loki. It's obvious, there was no way he'd win." - "He was doing his job." - "There was other ways. He could have waited. Brought in more people. I don't know How much good it would do, but at least it's something." - "Sometimes there isn't options, Tony." - "Right. Look who I'm talking to." - "Is this the first time you lost a soldier?" - "I'm not a soldier! I'm done with that.. I mean no one here is a soldier. They're agents. Who seem hell bent on following Fury to death. And I'm not doing that." - "Neither am I. He's got the same blood On his hands that Loki does. But right now, we gotta put that behind us and get this done. Now Loki needs a power source. If he can put together." - "Loki's smart." - "Debatable." - "No he is. He knew exactly what strings to pull to get the best results. Getting captured. He wanted that." - "I can see that now." - "He hit us right where we live. Why do you think?" - "To tear us apart." - "Yes and no. Divide and conquer, is the first step. He knows we need to be apart to win, right? But not here. No. He wants to beat us, but he wants the credit. He wants wants to been seen, needs to be seen." - "Right. Like his act in Stuttgart." - "Right. But that was just a Preview. Today. What's next is opening night. And if you can't tell Loki is a full Diva, right. He wants his name in the sky he wants a monument built with his name on it. Shit. I know where he'll be."

I started to walk by Steve when I stopped and walked back to him. I hit the bottom part of the band on my watch and it extended up to my elbow. I reached In and pulled out a few things. And handed them to Steve. "These are some gift from me. The star is yours. The black stick is Barton's, and the two bracelets are Romanoffs."

[Suits.]

I started to walk again the. He stopped me. "What are they, and where you going?" - "They are custom suits I made last night. Put them on and think about equipping them. Jarvis will explain the rest. I have a few people to call."

As I made my way to the top of the Carrier I called The president. "Sir, you need to Evacuate the area around my Tower, quickly and quietly." - "What's going on Stark?" - "Loki. He's going to use my tower to power his portal. What happened at shield but successfully and indefinitely." - "What for?" - "He means to use it to bring in a army from space. Our team is about to make our way over there now. I just thought you should know." - "Dear god. I'll give orders to Lieutenant colonel Rhodes to head that way now." - "No need. He's my next call. Is he close by?" - "He's in DC now. I called him back when the Tesseract got stolen." - "Thank you Sir."

I hung up and immediately called Rhodey. I made it outside when he answered. "What is it Tony?" - "I just talked to the President. You need to meet me in New York. Now." - "Why. What's going on." - "You'll see when you get there. Actually. Where are you at?" - "At my apartment they gave me in DC."

My watch expanded to my elbow again and I pulled out a Nanite Arc reactor, and dropped it through a portal.

Rhodey: "What's this?" - "Your new suit. It's a Nanite suit like mine. Put it on and command it to form. Mommy is already updated on how to use the suit. See you in New York."

While I was talking I was walking to the front of the ship. When I got to the edge I took a deep breath and jumped off and my suit formed and I took off to New York.
