Chapter 2 - Discovery

This guy is dangerous.

I glance around him, confused. What did he attack with me? Had to be a thread but for it to be that strong? It just didn't add up.

Moving around swiftly I carefully eye his movements. If I can figure out when he's going to attack I don't need to worry about the thing that's hitting me.

I continue speeding around, he raises his hand into a gun shape and I tense my guard up. He then acts as if he fires it and it goes into the air. I can feel the air spreading apart as it gushes towards me. Fast, But I'm faster!

I get out of the way, his eyes widening but then retracting back. He smirks.

What's there to smirk about! He's lost! I put the sword in front of me as I tighten my grip on the sword. But that smirk, I can feel danger looming! I begin instead of attacking, to dash under!

I can feel his smirk suddenly turn into a frightened one. I knew it! That thread he sends probably can make turns! If it can be microscopic enough and strong like that, then there's probably an unknown force behind it!

He puts his hands in a guard formation in front of him. A chance!

Abusing his stunned movement, I pull out my crossbow, but swiftly load it with a paralyzing arrow to loosen his guard.

The bolt quickly travels to his ankle, but to no effect.

"What? How tough are you!" I yell as I begin to charge with my katana, aiming for a quick slash to the throat.

He smirks but not for long, he's blasted back against the wall, breaking it. He seems mostly uninjured but disgruntled, abusing this, I punish him by a lightning fast strike to the throat. Only for my blade to stop halfway, more thread?

"It's futile!" I yell, pushing even harder and giving it my all.

He grunts, seemingly giving up and my blade cuts through his neck cleanly, Decapitation.

Sighing heavily I collapse to the ground, I feel very grateful that he wasn't experienced. He could of killed me easily if I hadn't given him time to react fully. That thread he sends must require lots of concentration.

I get up, body sluggish as I limp towards my house. Sucks that nobody is there to help me..

I live alone, I remember waking up here one day in this house and that's about it.

Nearing the house I open the door and go to my workout room. During the fight it felt as if I was overwhelmed with something, I got the same vibes from the guy too.

"Nen." Said a cold voice in my head.

"!" I hint, on alert.

I unsheathe my sword, only for it to disappear into a black orb as it floats in front of me.

"What-" I yelp, confused as I go into an evasive stance.

"Who are you?" I exclaim cautiously, heart beating.

"Relax." It says coldly.

"Call me Velocita. It's what you refer to me as do you not?" He exclaims

"No no, I do. Not to be rude but, how long have you been.. sentient?"

"None taken, I'd say about the beginning of when this world was made. Good memories." Velocita chuckled.

"Anyway, why decide to come out now?" I state explicitly, still on guard.

"Obviously because your worthy of seeing me, if you haven't discovered nen just now you'd be scrawling on the floor, becoming insane and losing years of your life!" Velocita laughed hysterically.

I gulp as I continue forward. "What.. is nen?"

"Ah finally, the good stuff. Took long enough, anyway, nen or what people call aura is the life energy of somebody or something. It can be used in various ways, whether it be to conjure, enhance, manipulate, transmute, emit, and specialize."

"Specialize? What's up with that?" I respond.

"A specialist is somebody who has their own unique effect, we don't have to worry about that. Now continuing on, these nen effects can all be discovered via water divination. You do this by putting a leaf on a glass of water and applying nen to it. Also, nen can also be used in various techniques. Albeit it'd be a pain to explain them all so I'll do the basics. There's zestu, the closing of your aura, ten, the opposite of zetsu and letting your aura flow in a contained way, ren, the ecstatic ten and you allow it to expand flow freely, gathering more aura in the process, and finally hatsu, the application of nen into doing something. For example, putting nen into your fists to do lots of damage." Velocita breathed heavily.

"That's.. a lot to take in." I stumble back, surprised.

"This nen.. how did I obtain it?"

"Another good question, there are two ways to obtain nen, one is the fun way and then the boring way. You got it the fun way! That is through nen being directly applied to you forcefully or what we call initiation. The other way is just learning it over time and meditation."

"So.. this nen will help me do stuff right?"

"Mhm."

"Going off your explanation, that weird guy I faced is an emitter who shot their nen at me."

"Mhm, albeit they were extremely weak and inexperienced in the control of nen."

"Weak..? Er, can we do this water divination?"

"Sure, just get a cup of water and a leaf."

"We'll do it in the morning, I'm exhausted."

I wake from my bed, reflecting over the past events that happened today. I have nen, my blade can talk, and my shoulder still hurts like hell!

Getting up I start my daily training routine, especially on my shoulder. Varying from weights, pushups, crunches, and other various exercises.

I begin to scurry my way to my training room, sweating while purposely showing off my physique.

"Pride huh?" Velocita chuckles.

"Shut up." I murmured

I sat down on a pillow, looking at a glass of water with a leaf on top.

"I just apply nen correct?" I exclaim as I can feel my heart pump.

"Mhm."

Looking at the cup I hover my hands over the sides.

Ten!

The feeling is amazing, releasing this nen!

The water remains calm, but the leaf moves.

I'm a manipulator!
