Reality Check...

On the other end of the phone call was... Azrael

"Hey, you are you free?" Asked Azrael

"Not really, I'm training. What is it?" Said Ash

"Well, I was thinking about taking you under my wing." Said Azrael.

"What, why do you want to do that?"

"I see potential within you, and also I'd already talked to Silva. He agreed as long as you were fine with it."

Without even a moment's hesitation, Ash had agreed. Now donning a huge grin on his face Ash said, "When do we start?"

'This is the perfect opportunity to gain experience in this world and also collect the genes of the species of this world.'

"Where are you? I'll be sending an air-blimp to pick you up." Said Azrael.

"Whale Island, I'll be waiting at (x, y) coordinates." Said Ash as he continued to commit mass extermination of the species in Whale Island's Forest.

*Beep*

Without replying any further, Ash had ended the call.

Venturing deeper into the forest, Ash had noticed some abnormal bear like creatures. The creatures looking as though they were a mix of a fox and bear. Ash made a comment on their appearance upon sighting them 'I'll be taking your genes, thank you for living to contribute to my strength.'

After making this comment, Ash had bowed in their direction and immediately leaped onto the trees in front of him. Now launching his Nen threads at them without being spotted by the fox-bears line of vision.

Ash had skillfully avoided the fox-bears line of vision by walking around their field of view, silently slaughtering them by hardening his Nen threads to his current possible limits. Currently only being able to make his Nen as hard as a stone, being nowhere near the level of piercing through steel.

*ROAAAARRRGHHHHH*

An intense growl came from the deeper part of the forest even with the silent massacre of the fox-bears, it had seemed as though one of the adult members of this species had smelled the carnage.

Trees rumbling about, branches crackling, the ground vibrating and within moments a huge 6-meter fox-bear had appeared within Ash's view.

The giant fox-bear donning multiple vines across its body as though it always remained dormant in the same position, allowing nature to take its course on its body. It's mild-brown fur now being tinted green by the nature that had encompassed its existence.

Visible on its body was the maroon-red Nen permeating from within, upon seeing this visible aura flowing throughout the beast Ash had raised his guard to unprecedented levels and began treating it as though it was a fight of life and death.

After all, Ash had never fought a user or beast that could utilize Nen to the death. It was the unpredictability behind his opponent's attack pattern that could cause his transmigration to be cut short.

The beast immediately locking onto Ash's position had sped up to unbelievable speeds to Ash, he'd already learned that some Nen users could practically teleport at this point, but this Nen beast wasn't at that level, but it was insanely fast.

If Ash would even blink for a second, he would lose his life. But Ash, not feeling fear in the face of a life and death battle wasn't afraid of this battle. He'd been arranging his Nen threads before the beast had arrived towards him as he'd sensed the strong aura before it arrived.

Ash had positioned his Nen threads in a way so that they would act as if it was a trip wire but more deadly, knowing that his hardening only goes so far and would probably not harm the beast too harshly he had sharpened them instead of going the route of hardening.

All around his position, he'd trapped a vast majority of the trees in his vicinity not allowing any room for error, 360 degrees around him were trapped above and below.

All of this happened in the span of seconds, within the first moments of sensing that vicious aura from the fox-bear he'd begun trapping his surroundings repositioning himself, so he'd be a harder target to catch.

The presumed guardian of the forest was this fox-bear, and it was angry. It had charged at Ash's position only to be nicked by his Nen threads. But unluckily for Ash, those were of no hindrance to the fox-bear.

Merely grazing its fur and causing minor bleeding, it'd charged through the Nen threads with ease. Causing Ash to be.... elated, he'd finally found a beast that could prove to be a challenge for him, but it also caused his sociopathic nature to emerge.

Upon seeing a beast, a mere animal stronger than him, Ash's awakened state seemed to partially awaken again. It wasn't as immense as it was before death in his previous life, but it boosted his abilities greatly.

His focus was deepened and his ability to concentrate his Nen threads to higher levels was brought out, the previously weak Nen threads had become much stronger in this moment, but Ash's Nen pool was being drained quickly.

The guardian of the forest had leapt at Ash with incredible speeds and slashed at him with its claws infused with Nen.

Without bothering to change positions, Ash had formed Nen threads once again and with a sharpened mind used his wits instead of brawn.

He'd wrapped his threads around two trees nearby causing the fox-bears claws to be caught within a "web" of Nen threads and allowing him the opportunity to attack.

Forming a line throughout nearby trees for him to walk on he had speed over above the fox-bear and materialized a cluster of Nen threads into a spear with an oscillating tip sharpened to its limits.

Using his Nen threads in a creative manner once again, Ash had wrapped his threads around two trees and made a sort of slingshot for the spear and within a second had it launched directly at the fox-bears head.

The spear given a spin by the slingshot created by threads, had increased its momentum greatly therefore increasing its piercing power beyond what it could do if thrown or swung normally.

Launched in the direction of the fox-bears head, it was over for the guardian of the forest. Or so it seemed, but incredulously the Nen threads holding its right paw causing it to be stuck was struggling immensely and broke free at the last second and slightly moved to the side.

With this slight change in position for the fox-bear it'd avoided a fatal blow, but it was still struck in the left arm, causing a gaping hole to form where it'd been struck.

Roaring loudly the bear had once again struck at Ash but this time it'd focused it's Nen directly in its right paw. Destroying two trees that stood between it and Ash, the trees not stopping the momentum of its paw whatsoever.

Ash in his partially awakened state, had been over-confident. His reaction speed and thinking speed had shot up greatly causing him to lack the thought of strategically retreating until the last moment when that blow was right there, he hadn't barely grasped the speed behind it even while in his current state.

Barely raising his left arm and forming a dense cluster of threads in the form of a shield to try and block this vicious blow, Ash had been struck by this Nen infused paw.

After all, the guardian of the forest had concentrated its Nen into its right paw to its utmost limit and Ash hadn't foreseen that.

Landing this blow, the fox-bear had thought it was over for the measly human who dared intrude in its forest and kill its cubs.

Fortunately for Ash, in his current state, although only being a partial version of it's full potential had managed to strike himself in the side with a softened Nen thread causing himself to be slightly pushed to the side.

Only being struck in his now non-existent left arm, Ash had survived that blow. The guardian of the forest now being low on Nen reserves had lost his final chance to end the fight.

Ash at the moment felt no rage towards this animal, only gratitude. He was thankful for its help in his enlightenment.

It had helped him to understand that his previous confidence from being the best assassin on Earth was nothing more than a meager accomplishment when compared to this world's inhabitants.

It had given him a reality check, causing his old confidence to vanish and be replaced by a newfound confidence in himself that he will one day rise to the same greatness that he'd previously held.

'I will be the greatest assassin known to man and upon hearing my name, my enemy's knees should buckle being induced with fear. One day!'

Now once again forming an oscillating spear made of Nen threads being densely packed together, he'd personally stabbed it into the brain of the now exhausted fox-bear finally ending its life.

*DING*

[Accelerated Nen Production: 100%], [Accelerated Muscle Regeneration: 100%], [Low-Tier Regeneration: 100%], [Increased Musculature Control: 100%]

Acquire Gene(s)? (Y/N)

'Yes'

After acquiring these new additions to his gene pool, Ash was then prompted:

[The user has acquired genes that require the physiology of the user to be modified. Gene: (Low-Tier-Regeneration of a Fox-Bear Elder)]

[You have 1 hour to relocate and find a space deemed suitable and then will be put into a state of paralysis, unable to move and or use Nen for an entire day.]

Using his inhuman muscle control, Ash had tightened the remaining muscles in the measly stump of an arm to restrict the blood flow and then used his low reserves of Nen to create threads and wrap around the stump to restrict the blood flow better.

He'd being using his Nen reserves "wastefully" as he wasn't going to be able to use it in the next hour anyways. So, he'd been using the last bit of his reserves helping soothe his current physical condition.

After performing the necessary actions on himself, he'd began heading towards the home he had paid for on Whale Island with the money he'd earned from Heaven's Arena.

[Location: Ash's Home]

Once Ash arrived at the house that he had purchased on whale island he would tend to his medical needs personally before his Hatsu condition struck him.

-2 Day's Later-

Ash was pale and missing his entire left arm, but his designated air-blimp had arrived. It was time to begin his training with Azrael once he'd arrived where he intended to go. This is the beginning of the journey of the to be infamous "Devil's Child."
