Unwanted visit.

Lana tapped her fingers on her laps anxiously. Yesterday she had not totally believed the news that her sister was kidnapped. She believed her sister was safe, she had hoped and waited to see her knock on the door in the evening like she usually does, but it never happened.

How stupid of her to think so and now Santiago was not picking up her calls. She believed that he ignored her calls because of her silly action yesterday. Now she was in big frustration.

She took her purse and left her room, going to her mother's room.

"Mother, " Lana went to the bedside. "I have to leave early this morning, I have a lot to take care of at my coffee shop."

"What about your sister Roselle, she didn't call me as she promised and she didn't return home last night. Is everything okay?"

"Um, yes Mum, everything is okay. She called me this m... morning and told me she was o... okay. She had a problem she's settling at the office that's why she didn't come home." Lana tried so much to hide the sadness in her voice.

This was not the first time Evelyn would hear her daughter spend her night at the office when she had a lot of things to settle. But today, there was this awkward feeling that tugged in her heart. That feeling a mother could have when her child is somewhere looking for help.

"Are you sure about this?" Evelyn queries to make sure Lana was telling her the truth.

"Y... yes, I'm sure mum, don't worry. You have to finish your food fast before it gets cold. Nina had been standing here for a long time now. Let her feed you now." Lana pushed the small table towards her and beckoned for Nina to take over.

"Don't forget to take your medicine after eating. Take care of yourself, I will be going now. Bye," Lana hurried out of the room.

"Is everything okay with Lana?" Evelyn asked Nina.

Nina was caught in surprise by the question as she had thought Ma'am Lana had settled that already. "Um. Ye... yes ma'am everything is okay with her."

"I couldn't help but notice she looks like something is bothering her."

"Ma'am your daughter is alright. Y.. you know how she can be when it's about her coffee shop. Don't worry ma'am, Lana is a woman now and she knows how to take care of herself." Nina said and wished her madam would stop asking her. She didn't know how to lie about this too.

Lana could be a grown woman now but she was still a baby to her. Lana was still her baby she longed so much to comfort. She swallowed the soup Nina had brought close to her mouth, but she was not confident with what everyone was telling her.

Lana let out a loud sigh when she was out of her mother's room.

She didn't know how long she would continue to lie to her mother about Roselle. What if Roselle would never be saved? What would be her fate with the lie she had been feeding her mother with?

Lana dabbed the tears in her eyes and opened the outside door and saw Mila standing outside about to knock.

Lana frowned her face. "What else are you doing here? I'm going through a lot now to be disturbed by your cautions."

"I'm here to apologize for what I said yesterday..."

Lana turned to leave Mila followed her immediately.

"I'm sorry Lana listen to me. Please don't ignore me again. Lana!"

"What?!" Lana halted facing Mila with anger in her eyes.

"I know I shouldn't have talked to you the other day in that manner, I've apologized already."

Lana breathed out. "Fine, I've forgiven you."

Mila smiled "Any news about your sister?"

"She's still nowhere to be found and the kidnappers were able to escape with Nate."

"What if the kidnappers are not after money? What if they want something else we don't know?"

"That's the problem. I don't know Mila but my sister doesn't put herself in other people's problems. I don't see any reason why one would want to kidnap her."

"Hm, your sister is a millionaire remember? That's enough reason to kidnap her. What about Santiago?"

"He had been ignoring my calls."

"You know your action yesterday added more problems, Lana. Santiago is the only person at hand now willing to help find your sister and you have added more problems which will make him not concentrate ."

"I just hope Santiago can forget about it and pick up my calls. It's just a kiss anyway, nothing more." Lana said casually, pretending it was not a big issue but deep down within her, she was fighting hard to control the thought.

Lana signalled the guard to open the gate.

"So where are you going now?"

"To her office. I hope I would see Santiago there." Just then Lana remembered she doesn't know how to drive. Nate who was their only driver was also kidnapped. Lana let out a loud frustrated sigh.

"What's the problem?"

"I don't know how to drive."

"Get the keys"

"Can you drive?"

"Even a 14-year-old can drive if allowed by law." Lana had a hint of pride in her voice. "I don't know why an 18-year-old wouldn't want to learn how to drive."

Lana ignored Mila's remark and asked, "Are you sure you can drive?"

"Yes, Lana get in the keys."

When they got into the car, Mila noticed that as big as the Romano's mansion was, it had only one man guarding the treasures of the house.

"I don't understand why this mansion has only one guard. Your family is filthy rich and could pay more than 50 well-bodied men to guard the house."

"You know my sister is a strict woman. You can say she has trust issues but she believed taking care of a little is better than having a lot who would betray. Guards can easily be wooed with money no matter how much you pay them. They can give out information that can lead to destroying the owner of the house. That's why she didn't want to hire more than one."

"Now what about you learning how to drive?"

"I think we should discuss that later since we have an important issue at hand."

Mila nodded looking at the sad look on Lana's face. They were close to Roselle's company and she could see a lot of people clamouring to gain entrance into the building.

Since the news of her sister being kidnapped, the reporters, bloggers, and newspaper writers had not left the entrance of the building looking for something to fill their headlines with.

Even the top businessmen in the city who knew Roselle were there sympathizing with the workers.

"Now you see why you need more than one guard. How are you going to go in? They will come rushing to you the moment you get out of this car." Mila said.

Lana was busy looking through the crowd of people hoping to see Santiago. But there was no sight of him.

Instead, Mia Roselle's secretary was rushing towards the car with security men around him. He looked more than anxious.

Mila felt relieved, at least there were security men to help push the newsmen away.

"Good morning ma'am." Mia bowed to Lana.

Lana only nodded at Mia's greeting who had a sullen look on his face.

"Have you seen Santiago?" Lana asked, she and Mila stepped out of the car.

"No ma'am. That's another problem we are facing now. We have been trying to contact him since yesterday he left but we couldn't. I'm afraid ma'am. What if he had been kid..." Mia stopped himself from saying the worst.

Lana held Mila's hand. "No, this can't be happening. I can't just have three people missing at the same time."

Mila held Lana telling her not to break into tears in front of the people around them. Everything that was happening was now becoming a dream to her.

She had not accepted her sister was kidnapped and now...

"Look! Lana is here!" One of the reporters screamed. All attention turned towards Lana, Mila and Mia whose eyes were filled with a mixture of sadness and confusion.

"Ma'am, this way, let's get out of here." Mia led Lana and Mila, ordering the guards to cover the young miss.

"Ma'am, please talk to us!"

"Ma'am Lana, what's the current situation now? Any news on her?"

"Have the kidnappers called already? Please talk to us, ma'am."

Mia and the guards were pushing the reporters away from Lana as their questions streamed in the air. All eyes were on her now as she pushed her way towards the entrance of the building, the reporters not giving her space.

Suddenly someone pushed his microphone harder, almost knocking Mia down as he shouted.

"Ma'am your sister is missing, what do you have to say about it?"

"That you're stupid man, that's what she has to say!" Mia ranted, pouncing on the reporter who pushed him.

"Get him out of here!" Lana ordered almost releasing her anger at the reporter.

More security men came out pushing the reporter out of the place.

"Move, move, allow the miss to go in." Mia was still shouting at the people. As soon as Lana and Mila went into the building of the Biling company, the entrance door was shut and she could still hear the clamouring voices of the people from outside.

Her body suddenly stiffened at the sight of the man in front of her. 'How dare you show your face here?!' Lana's face clouded in anger.

David Anthony was there, smiling at her. The smile on his face irritated Lana more.
