Chapter 20: No Food?!

After soaring through the sky, we arrived to Zaban City. Looking around the areas, I see stalls selling whatever they can. Some is very eye catching. The Kiroko that acted as the husband, but is actually the son, leads us through the crowd. Hopefully we can make it to the exam site without anymore worries.

Esther: "Gon! Don't buy anything that you don't need."

Gon: "Right!"

Leorio: "You know, Zaban City is quite a shady place."

Kurapika: "Prosperous cities tend to attract all sort of nasty types."

I see Gon constantly looking at each stall.

Esther: "Gon! No buying! I'll make whatever you want later!"

Gon: "Sorry, I'm just looking."

Leorio: "What do you mean by, 'make'?

Gon: "Oh. Well, Esther is an inventor. He likes to make things. He created a lot in our village, most notably, sturdier netting to catch fish more effectively."

Esther: "Although I can only make what I know. If I see what you want me to make, I can try to mimic it. It won't be as good as the original since I don't know what the components are made of. People from the village would always hide new things from me because they fear I'd break it apart. Can't blame them, I would."

Kurapika: "How do you make the items if you don't have the necessary stuff to create it?"

Gon: "Oh. Actually, Esther can just Invision-"

Esther: "Gon!"

I cover Gon's mouth. Don't need people knowing about my powers. Kurapika and Leorio look at me with a questionable look. I cough.

Esther: "I have my ways…"

"We're here."

Walking forward, I see a tall building. There are many floors.

"I believe it's that building."

Looking at where he pointed, I see a small restaurant. Wow, it really does look nothing like an exam site.

Leorio: "So this is the exam site…this is what draws…"

Kurapika: "Hunter applicants across the world."

Gon: "My first shot at the hunter exam…was this how dad felt, when he arrived?"

They are looking at the tall building. I shake my head.

Esther: "Actually guys, it's that one…"

I point to the restaurant.

K,G,and L: "Huh?"

They look at the restaurant. Leorio says I must be kidding.

Esther: "Remember what I said in the dark corridor? The exam site might be hard to find because it blends in well… Guess I was wrong on that. It looks so out of place that people wouldn't expect it to be held here."

"Correct. No-one would expect a hunter exam that has millions of applicants to be held here."

Leorio: "That's true…"

Entering the restaurant, I can smell the chief cooking. He says welcome.

"Is the back room open?"

The cook looks at us.

"What will you have?"

"The steak combo that opens your eyes to the light. For 4."

"For 4…how would you like them?"

"Grilled over a low flame, until cooked."

"Got it. Let yourself into the backroom."

Entering the backroom, I see 4 chairs.

"Wait here."

Leorio: "Wait? Where are the others?"

Gon: "I can't wait for the steak combo."

Kurapika: "Gon. That was just the password to let us inside."

Gon: "Oh, we don't get to eat?"

Esther: "What?!"

I grab Gon's shoulder and shake him rapidly.

Esther: "Gon! You said that there would be food to eat!"
