Chapter 13: How is this even a quiz?

"Your answer will only be the number 1 or 2."

The old woman speaks.

"Any other answer will be considered incorrect."

Leorio: "Hold on! All 4 of us share one question? So, if one of them answers incorrectly, I'm disqualified too?"

Kurapika: "As if that would happen! What scares me is the high likelihood of the vice versa happening."

Leorio: "What was that?"

Gon: "But, you know. This is way easier, since only one of us needs to know the answer. I'm not good at quizzes."

Esther: "You sure aren't."

I can hear footsteps approaching. I turn around and see someone walking up, possibly the same person who was following us.

"Hey, there. Hurry it up. Or else I'll answer the question first."

Leorio: "Who are you?"

Gon: "He followed us here, all the way from port."

Leorio: "Huh? Seriously?"

I stare at the person, somewhat annoyed of him. If he wanted to follow us, he could have joined us like a normal person. I hate people sneaking up on me.

Esther: "I have a suggestion."

Everyone looks to me.

Esther: "Since he wants to so badly answer the question, we should let him go first."

Kurapika: "I agree. We can let him go first to see what kind of question we should expect."

Gon: "Alright then."

Leorio: "I have no objections."

"Then I'll get to it."

The person approaches the old woman. She's about to ask the question.

"Here is your question….Evil villains have captured your mother and lover. You can only save one. Select 1 for your mother, or 2 for your lover. Which will you save?"

Everyone except the man looks surprised. How is this even a quiz?

Leorio: "How is this even a quiz?"

Oops, did I say that out loud?

The man presses the button. He answer 1 and tells his reason. The old lady looks at him for a bit before letting him pass. Why?

Leorio: "Hey now, that's all bull! How was that the right answer? We're supposed to give answers the old lady wants? And that's considered correct? Hey! Say something!"

The crow sitting on one of the masked people crows.

Leorio: "I won't put up with this sham. I'll find a different route."

As Leorio turns to walk away, the old lady says hold up.

"Refuse to take the quiz and you're disqualified."

Leorio: "That's just ridiculous! Different people would expect different answers! There is no right answer there never has been!"

Kurapika: "There is…no right answer..?"

Kurapika seems to have figured something out. Gon is thinking about something. Wait a minute…

"Wait!

Before Kurapika could tell Leorio something, the old lady tells us that there will be no furthering talking. Well isn't that great…
