Chapter Seven

The next morning was pretty normal. Thalia climbed out of bed, took a shower, got dressed, and went down stairs for breakfast. Jax decided not to take a shower, so he got dressed, and went down stairs for breakfast. Jax and Thalia ate breakfast without saying a word to each other. A lot of the originals arrived early, most of them were going to stay the night. They figured the ball would go somewhat late. It was the first ball that all species were invited to. This was history in the making.

The rest of the day was pretty normal everyone was just waiting for the ball tonight. Thalia went dress shopping with her grandma’s. Thalia had to try on like a dozen dresses until she found the one her grandma’s liked. While Jax had to shop for a tux with his grandpa’s. They were there for an hour or two getting it fitted. They eventually went back to the castle. Jax and Thalia wouldn’t until later that night. They didn’t watch any TV they just read books until they were told it was time to started getting ready.

A women helped Thalia do her hair and makeup. Her hair was curly and she wore a long blue dress. Rose walked in with a box. She said “I got a present for you” and handed it to Thalia. The women walked out of the room. Thalia opened the box to see a diamond tiara in it.

She picked it up and said “it’s a tiara.”

Rose said “your first” as she wrapped her arms around Thalia.

Thalia wrapped her arms around Rose and said “thanks grandma.” They let go of each other and Rose helped Thalia put it on. Thalia looked in the mirror and said “I can wear this right.”

Rose said “I already talked to Dragon Flame she said its ok.”

“Thanks grandma.”

“That’s also from your grandpa, your moms parents got Jax one too.”

Thalia said “they got Jax a tiara, oh he’ll look so adorable.”

James said “they got him a crown not a tiara” as he walked into the room.

Thalia said “Hi grandpa.”

“Hi sweetie, I have to steal your grandma.”

Thalia said “she’s all yours.” Rose and James walked out of the room hand in hand. Thalia grabbed her phone and walked to Jax’s room. Thalia knocked on the open door and said “can I come in?” Jax had a crown on his head and was wearing a black tux.

He said “go ahead.”

Thalia walked in and said “nice monkey suit.”

“Nice dress but it’s not really-“

Thalia said “Me, I know grandma’s picked it out.”

“You’re lucky they didn’t pick a pink and puffy dress” Jax said.

“I hate pink.”

“I know and you know mom and dad are going to be here.”

Thalia said “how do you know that?”

“I talked to them.”

“Jax why would you talk to them they abandoned us.”

“It wasn’t like that Thalia and you know it.”

“No I don’t they abandoned us.”

“They’re our parents Thalia.”

“They’re not my parents.”

Charity walked into the room and said “it’s time to go guys.”

Thalia and Jax said “not now” in unison.

Jax said “they are our parents whether you like it or not.”

“They abandoned us.”

“They were scared.”

Thalia said “so where we.”

“That’s different Thalia and you know it is.”

“You’re right it is” Thalia said, “we were five minutes old, and had just been told we had to unite waring species. What’s their excuse?”

Jax said “okay, you’re right about that but their still our parents.”

“Jax we needed them and they weren’t there for us.”

“I get what you’re saying but-

Thalia said “you think we’re in the same spell bracket let’s see you cast a spell in a straightjacket” and pointed at him.

A straightjacket appeared on him and he said “not again.”

Thalia said “yes again” as she walked out the door. Jax used his super strength to rip the straight jacket off of him.

He said “I’m gonna kill her.”

Charity said “calm down, this is a party about unity, you need to put you feelings aside.”

Jax said “okay I will” and walked to the ball room.

Rose walked into Thalia’s room and said “are you okay?”

“I’m fine, I just came to put my shoes on.” Thalia grabbed her boots and slipped them on.

Rose looked at her and said “you’re going to wear combat boots.”

Thalia said “yes, now let’s go” and linked her arm with Rose’s. They walked to the ballroom and met Dragon Flame at an entrance from the second floor.

Dragon Flame said “are you guys ready for this?”

Thalia said “I’m ready.”

Jax said “me too.” Jax and Thalia walked down the staircase into the ballroom. Thalia and Jax walked to their table and sat down. Thalia whispered “what’s wrong?”

Jax whispered “I have a bad feeling about tonight.”

Thalia whispered “me too.”

“Don’t worry Thalia I have a plan.” Jax stood up and walked to Ashton. Ashton said “hey, Jax.”

“Hi can I talk to you in private.”

“Sure.” The two of them walked to a room outside the ballroom.

Ashton said “what’s wrong?”

“Can someone take away mine and Thalia’s powers?”

Ashton said “Not exactly.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“They can’t take away your powers but they can make it so you can’t use them.”

Jax said “how?”

“By turning you back into babies, most species don’t get their powers until puberty.”

“I need to ask you for a favor.”

“Go ahead.” “Something bad is going to happen tonight. I have a plan and I need your help.”

Ashton said “I’ll do whatever I can.” Jax quickly explained her plan and went back to the ballroom.

Thalia went to look for Jax when she ran into Xan. She said “I am so sorry.”

Xan said “it’s okay.”

Cora was standing next to him and said “hi.”

“Thalia this is my wife Cora.”

“Nice to meet I’m Thalia.”

“Nice to meet you too” Cora said, “You look a lot like your grandmother.”

Thalia said “which one.”

“Rose” said Cora.

“Thanks, have either of you seen my brother?”

Xan said “He’s over there talking to Lonnie.”

Thalia said “you call her Lonnie.”

Cora said “of course he does, Lonnie’s his sister.”

Thalia said “Vilandra is your sister?”

Xan said “yeah.”

Thalia said “wait if she’s your sister. Then why didn’t you tell me, she’s nice and I should trust her.”

Xan said “because you have your doubts for a reason. I don’t know what that reason is. I don’t even know if it’s a good reason but I’m not gonna force you to change your mind.”

Thalia said, “you’re officially my best friend.”

Xan said, “you’re mine too.”

Thalia said, “thank you, do you guys want to meet Jax.”

Cora said, “we’d love too.”

The three of them walked back to the table. Thalia said “hello Vilandra.” Vilandra was sitting next to Jax.

Vilandra quickly stood up and said, “hi Thalia.”

Jax said “who are they?”

Vilandra said “this is my brother Xan and his wife Cora.”

Cora said “nice to meet you.”

Jax said “you too.”

Joshua walked up and said “Thalia can I have this dance?”

Thalia smiled and said “yes you can.” She grabbed his hand as they walked to the dance floor. Jax, Vilandra, Xan, and Cora followed. They all began to dance. Soon after that, a green haze hit Jax and Thalia in the back as they fell to the ground. They started aging backwards until they turned back into babies.

Carter ran to them and said “who did this?”

Valkar said “I did dad.”

Carter said “Valkar why would you do this?”

Valkar said “I’m supposed to lead not them” as he walked closer to his father.

Dragon Flame said “you’ll never be king. I won’t let you.”

Valkar said “then I guess I’ll just have to kill them.”

A vampire named Katarina grabbed Jax and Thalia, then handed them to Percy and Eva. She then ran the three of them to the portal room. A few seconds later Valkar noticed they were gone. Valkar ordered the guard to find them.

In the portal room Eva said “what are we doing here?”

Katarina said “Jax knew this would happen, he had a plan.”

Percy said “what’s his plan?”

Katarina said “not here, go through the portal. You’ll be taken somewhere safe. S when you get there she’ll explain the rest. Go now I can hear the guards coming.” Eva and Percy quickly stepped into the portal. They reappeared on Mirinoi(the planet for mermaids and mermen) in front of a house. They knocked on the door and a women opened it.

The women said “hurry come in.”

Eva said “who are you.”

“I’m Kara but no time for chit chat we need to get you to the safe house.”

Percy said “what safe house?” Kara began to walk up the stairs as Eva and Percy followed close behind.

Kara said “Thalia had a house on Atria cloaked.”

Percy said “you want us to live with bionic super-people.”

Kara stopped at the top of the stairs, “they’re not humans or bionic” then walked left.

He said “they have a chip in the back of their necks.”

Kara said “that’s where they get their power from” and walked into a room with a big metal door. Kara said “put the twins in the car seats.” Eva placed Thalia in the car seat, as Percy put Jax in the other car seat. They buckled them in as Kara grabbed two diaper bags. Kara said “one has clothes in them, the other has bottles, formula, diapers and other stuff you might need.”

Percy said “thanks but what if he tries to track us?” Kara grabbed a ring and a necklace.

She hand them to Eva and Percy then said “put them on.” Percy slid the ring on and Eva put on the necklace.

Eva said “what about the twins?” Kara handed them two yin and yang necklaces. Percy and Eva put the necklaces on Jax and Thalia.

Percy said “why do we need to wear these?”

“Ester spelled them to cloak you” said Kara. The doorbell rang. Kara turned her head then look back at them. She hit a button on the far wall and said “go through the portal now.” The wall disappeared and a portal appeared. She walked out and shut the door behind her. Eva and Percy grabbed the car seats and diaper bags then walked through the portal.

Down stairs Kara ran and opened the door. She said “Valkar what are you doing here?”

Valkar said “looking for Eva Balcoin Hale and Percy Balcoin Hale.”

Kara said “why would they be here, I don’t even know them.”

Valkar said “we tracked them to this location.”

“They’re not here but you can take a look around if you want” Kara said.

Valkar said “Thanks but I think I’ll just try to track them again.”

Kara smiled and said “okay bye” as she shut the door.

On Atria Eva and Percy appeared in a living room. Katarina was sitting on the couch and said “finally you’re here.”

Eva said “what are you doing here?”

“I’m here to protect Prince Jax and Princess Thalia, Dragon Flame sent me.”

Percy said “okay where are the rooms?”

Katarina said “upstairs to the left, the twin’s room is already set up with a crib and all that.”

Eva said “okay thank you.” They walked out of the living room.
