Chapter 23

We are all sitting in what looks to be the main part of the tunnels and are currently sitting in very tense silence and at this point I'm about to leave because I'm so pissed that the flames keep growing larger the more I think about the lie I've been living.

"Aaaah!" I scream as I feel a pain in my side feels like it's being stabbed by a knife.

In an instant both my protective wolves are at my side trying to find the next thing to kill for hurting me.

"What's wrong Layla?" They both growl out.

"She's using too much magic and it's draining her." Kyle says, looking more annoyed than concerned.

"Then do something!" Bentley roars.

"Well if you hadn't hid her from us we could have trained her to be past the point of accidentally using her powers because she can't control them."

"Just help her or your life will be the cost, Witch!"

With the flick of his wrist whatever pain I was feeling had suddenly stopped.

"What did you do!?"

"Made her powers dormant for the time being she can use them but not without activating them."

"Why didn't you do that to begin with?"

"Without anything causing her powers to go haywire I would need to hold her hands and have her concentrate all while looking into my eyes. Do you think you would have let me do that?"

"Well uhh no I wouldn't but still."

"There's no "still" about it she needs our help and as her Guardians we are the only ones who can help her. Without us her powers could kill her or worse."

"That's it I-"

Before Bentley could finish the sentence I interrupt.

"Thank you Kyle. I want to learn how to control my powers no matter what. I don't ever want to feel that much pain again."

Bentley and Jarod just look at me in shock and as if I've grown three extra heads.

"Layla baby you can't be serious." Bentley pleads.

I about melt when he calls me baby. But I don't due to the fact that it scares me at the fact that I just went through so much pain due to overusing my powers due to anxiety.

"I'm very serious Bentley I can't protect myself if I don't have the proper knowledge of how to use my powers."

"You have us to protect you. With us you won't get in any danger."

"Hate to bust your ego but these three kidnapped me and you guys didn't know. If they were the enemy I would be dead."

Bentley suddenly growls at that thought and pulls me so I'm sitting in his lap.

"It's  going to be okay Bentley I trust these men. Plus you can be here too so you know I am safe. You or Jarod."

"Okay it's settled then Layla will start training as soon as you guys can provide it. One of us are to stay with her or near her at all times during her training so make sure that you don't push her to hard."

"Okay cool. She can start tomorrow morning at 9am sharp. We'll start her on the basics like finding out what powers she has."

"Okay what. No no no. Make it 11am or it's a no go. I'm a bitch in the morning and need my coffee and peace and quiet or this damn place is going up in flames."

All three of them visibly gulp at my bluntness I hear Bentley and Jarod putting in remarks like "heard it, seen it, Survived it" Bentley says

"yeah heard it, seen it, survived it but only because I ran from it." Jarod says with a chuckle.

"See they know what I'm like they can vouch for it!"

"Okay 11:00am it is. Just don't kill anyone tomorrow morning."

With that we all got up and went to the guest room we are sharing for the next few days.

"Damn just tell them you'll castrate them with your mind next time Layla. I think they'll believe it" Jarod says.

"Oh you just wait. For all you know I'll be able to do just that." I say while giving him a sinister smirk.
