Charlus returned to Beauxbatons and got adjusted to his school life. It turned out that they wouldn't learn alchemy in their third year. The school had noticed that alchemy was not as useful in the student's education, so they removed it from the syllabus of 3rd Years. Now, people could only study it in their 6th years by opting for it as one of their 2 optional subjects.
Charlus was bummed. He was eager to listen to the alchemy class because he felt it would be useful to his task. Though, now that almost 2 years had passed, he no longer felt that sense of urgency. In fact, now that he matured compared to 2 years ago, he even questioned the legitimacy of the statement made by the mysterious person. However, since that mysterious person had been the one to save him, he decided to look for that person, even if took a lot of his free time.
After reading all the alchemy books, Charlus even garnered an interest in Alchemy. Now, he read the book Remus had given him for one hour every day before going to sleep.
Now that alchemy had been scrapped, potions and astronomy took its place. Some of that time had even been assigned to arithmancy. But the most irritating thing was that Madame Abadie was retaking the classes she took in their first year.
Her justification was that 8 years would not remember what was taught to them. If that was really the case, why were they even being taught? Once Charlus heard that Madam Abadie was teaching, he knew he had to do something to show his dissent.
Unfortunately, Charlus' upbringing taught him only one form of expressing dissent - pranks.

FLASHBACK
----
"With great pleasure, Padfoot presents... The Emerald!"
Sirius presented a small cube. Charlus and Harry weren't impressed.
"It's so normal. Shouldn't it be eye catchy and cool looking?" Harry asked Sirius.
Sirius chuckled and responded, "It seems that you haven't learnt pranking properly Harry. A prank must be set such that nothing must be out of sight. If I put a pillar right in the middle of the house, wouldn't you feel suspicious?"
Harry nodded. Charlus simply shrugged. He looked back at Harry's homework and asked Harry to focus on important issues.
"Summer's almost over Harry. We can listen to Padfoot any day. It's not like he's going anywhere."
Sirius looked hurt and said.
"I thought you would be more interested Charlus. It's going to be useful for you most of all."
Both Harry and Charlus were confused.
"Why isn't it useful to me?" Harry asked.
"Well, you can't be going to prank muggle teachers, can you? If you do that you will be out of that school, and any school till you are 11!"
"Who said I'll use it on teachers?"
"Yeah, you think I'll give you this so you can prank me? Keep dreaming."
Harry frowned and bent down his head dejectedly. Charlus was still confused.
"Why is it useful to me?"
"You are still in school Charlus. Surely you have one or two teachers you hate. And then there are those periods you just hate to attend. You can avoid all that for a week!"
Charlus shook his head and said, "I don't have any teachers I hate. I don't need it."
Sirius smiled and said, "Well you are going to a new year. You'll have new teachers. Who knows? Maybe you will get a bad teacher. Just because you have it doesn't mean you need to use it."
Charlus stared at the black cube in Sirius' hands.

Beauxbatons | 5th October 1987 | 5 AM
Charlus stared at the black cube in his hands. It had an edge of 3 centimetres. It was practically unnoticeable from a distance due to light notice-me-not charms.
He went out of the dorm and went to the building where the etiquette classes would be conducted. There were two entrances to the building, one in the back and one in the front. The one in the front was bigger, so Madam Abadie always used that one, since that made her feel more superior.
Charlus attached the black cube to the handle of the door. He faced the shooting end away from the door, facing the people who entered the building.
After he placed the cube, he raced back to the dorm. When he came back, he made some sound. Patrick was startled by the opening of the door and saw Charlus coming in. He didn't say anything and watched as Charlus tiptoed into the room and snuck back into his bed.

Etiquette Classroom | 5th October 1987 | 9 AM
Everyone student was seated in the class, waiting for Madam Abadie. Charlus pretended he was sleeping to hide his tensed face. He was worried that the prank wouldn't work.
His doubts were unfounded. A few minutes later, a scream came from outside the classroom. Everyone at the end of the room stood up to see what the sound was. Charlus was in the middle, and he didn't get up immediately to not raise suspicion.
After a few seconds, he couldn't bear the curiosity and he got up to see how Madam Abadie was. He was very happy with what he saw.
Madame Abadie's skin had turned purple and the students who went first were vomiting on the ground. Charlus was confused when he saw the purple skin, but he got away immediately to escape the poisonous farts.
"Prrrpp. Prrrpp."
He couldn't stop his giggles as more and more people watched his work. While it wasn't his first time pranking, this was his first time pranking for a just cause. And he loved the feeling.
