How difficult can it be to marry my first love?!

“How difficult can it be to propose and marry my first love? I could do it in the blink of an eye. I go to her and say I love you and seal her lips with mine. Very simple!” That’s what he thought in his innocent teenage days. But when he missed the first chance to confess his love, and the further attempts he made failed horribly in the future, he realized how foolish his thoughts were! “It is difficult, indeed! In fact, very much difficult!!!” Days became months, and months turned into years. Till the end, he could not express his love for her, and they went their separate ways. Or, to be more precise, she left the country to explore the world while he went to another city to secure his future. When he just thought everything was over and accepted his fate that he could never meet his crush again, she sat in front of him to plan his wedding with another woman. Even today, he could feel that she still had the power to make him lose himself and go weak in his legs. ‘Should I tell her now?’ Just when he was about to lift his head, his fiancee kicked him on his legs. “I am sorry! he was never like this before. I am not sure why he would behave as if he is not interested in this marriage,” His fiancee complained to his crush. His heart sank as he saw the person who was seated opposite him had no reaction on her face after hearing that.

Prologue 2

Seeing him after a long time made her heart flutter once again. What she did not expect was that he was going to be married to someone else in a month and become that person's better half. She felt a pinch in her chest but decided to ignore it as usual.

There was nothing she could do now as she now knew that he never once liked her. If he did then she would not be sitting opposite him planning his wedding with another woman. Instead, she would be the one seated next to him with sparkling eyes and happiness spread all over her body.

Right now, all she could do was to let out a slight sigh and carry on with the task in her hand. Since there are not many days left before the wedding, she has to make sure that everything is perfect for the couple before the ceremony.

She should ignore all the feelings she had for him and also not let any useless thoughts interfere with her work and their big day. She closed her eyes once and calmed her nerves by pressing her foot down on the hardwood floor.

"If you are ready then let us finalize on one of the cake designs that you have selected earlier…" Hazel said and started to spread the sheets that had cake designs in front of them.

Before Hazel could finish her sentence, Harlow stood up and left the room without a single word to her or his fiancée, Ria. Hazel clenched her teeth but still tried her best to maintain her professional smile at his fiancée to not disappoint her client.

"I am so sorry. I really don't know what is wrong with him today. He must have gotten a call from his work. He has always been respectable to everyone; even when he spoke to someone younger than him. He was considerate and never did anything like this before..." Before Ria could say any more, she felt something stuck inside her throat.

She then mumbled in a very low voice, "He must have been tense because of his work. Yes! That must be it! I hope … that's all to it. I am so sorry, I am sorry... I am sorry..."

Ria blinked her teary eyes and tried her best to not let the teardrop flow on her cheeks. But then still few of her tears hit her folded hands on her lap and blinded her vision.

Hazel knew that he did not get any call and neither did it seemed like he had any urgent work to take care of. It just seemed like he hated to be in the same place as her. She looked at the new bride-to-be with pitiful eyes.

'For goodness sake, today is a weekend! Also, after checking with the groom and bride several times on call and email, this date was scheduled for discussing the final decisions which were needed to be made before their marriage ceremony.' Hazel shook her in disappointment but then her heart shrunk a little thinking about the way Harlow behaved.

She stared at the door through which Harlow left while she gripped the papers in her hands. She could not believe what had just happened. If not for the bride to be's pleading face, she would have chased after that man and told him to get another wedding planner.

'Does he even hate to look at me or say a word? I was not expecting him to recognize me but at least he could have shown a little bit of courtesy as a fellow human and said a word before he left. Did he think I was so desperate to talk to him or wanted to meet him?' She painfully wondered.

She almost knocked over the table in front of her. But then after she looked at the tear stained face of the new bride to be, she controlled her boiling emotions and stopped herself from kicking his a**.

Ria's hands were trembling and the tears she tried very hard to stop, just came down as if the dam burst open. It seemed like there was no way to stop the crying, so Hazel moved towards her.

"Shh… It's ok. If not today, I can ask my assistant to check for my schedule and you can book another appointment later. Anyway, we do have a month left, so don't worry. I will make sure that you have an amazing wedding," Hazel patted her back and tried to comfort her.

The minute her hands touched, Ria broke even more and started to wail loudly. Thankfully, there were not many customers that day. The minute Hazel thought to call her assistant into the meeting room, someone knocked on the door and entered the room. After seeing her assistant, she sighed in relief.

"Ma'am, is everything alright? I heard someone crying…" Her assistant, Reese asked with worry filled eyes.

"..." Without saying anything, Hazel moved her eyes towards the crying Ria.

"Don't worry, Ma'am! I will take care of the client," Reese whispered in her ears and walked towards Ria.

"Thank you, Reese." Hazel nodded her head to her assistant and went to the door with steady steps.

Before Hazel could go out of the room, Ria mumbled, "I don't think we will need to book an appointment ever again. This wedding is not going to happen…"

Hazel gripped the door handle and took a deep breath. Then she left the room with a heavy heart. She never expected that the two of them would meet under such circumstances. Moreover, she almost lost her faith that she would ever see him again. Until he decided to show up unannounced and sat in front of her and asked a silly question.

Hazel tried very hard to forget that day's incident as it kept on popping up and disturbed her peaceful mind. But as if the person who was responsible would not let her forget it, he walked into her office and sat opposite her once again.

She did not want to talk to him at all but as a prospective client, she cannot ignore him as well. She took her sweet time and finished the work in hand first. Then after ten minutes, she closed the laptop and looked at him directly.

"What are you here for, Mr. Harlow? If you are not busy today, would you like to finalize the cake design that we could not do on that day, because someone decided to ditch… I mean he was busy and had to leave early without saying a word to anyone? Not even to his fiancée?" Hazel asked through her gritted teeth.

She tried her best to not show her anger when she was speaking to him. Even after waiting for five minutes, she did not get any response from him. So she lost her patience and raised her voice to ask,

"Do you think you are the only one who is always busy and has work? Also, are you thinking that everyone else around you is having a lot of time in their hands to leisurely enjoy everyday without doing any work. Look, Mr. Harlow, I am also a busy person. If you are not here to finalize the cake design, then the door is right behind you! Please leave..." She uttered.

Then she pointed the door with her right hand and indicated that he should leave at once. Harlow kept on staring at her slender hands and kept mum even then.

Since he was not ready to leave, Hazel decided to call her assistant to get him removed from her office. Just when she stood up to go out, Harlow said,

"Let's get married!"

Hazel almost fell on the floor after hearing that sentence out of his mouth. But at the last minute, she held onto the table and steadied herself. Just to make sure that she heard him correctly, she asked once again,

"What?"

Without any expression, he once again said,

"Let's get married!"

She gave him a disgusted look and said in a cold tone, "NO!"

'Is marriage a joke to him?' Anger raised to a different level inside her and she almost lifted her hand to slap him.
