The loud sound of hooves on the stone tiles in the inner courtyard disturbed even Drake's deep slumber. The creaking of the wooden wheels in the background announced the arrival of someone important, who had preferred to make a comfortable trip in a carriage than on horseback.
Drake gently pulled back his arm that rested around Hope's shoulders and slipped the pillow instead of his chest to support her head. He did everything with great care as if the slightest noise or a sudden movement could break her like an egg.
After covering her with both the blanket and his equally warm stare, Drake walked to the window to see who came to the Golden Draconian Palace. His dark gaze fell on the two black stallions and the carriage.
