Chapter 60: Invisible Threads of Fate

Moth was can do nothing but watch Ein lay waste on honkai infested areas. With him doing literal scorched earth tactics.

"We just have to wait for him to finish. Let the higher ups try to control the masses, not like they could do anything but that anyway." Mobius shrugged nonchalantly at Mei.

Mei nodded and sighed heavily. "You're right. Let's just leave him alone. He won't destroy human populated areas anyway. There might be stragglers here and there, but they're the minority."

She stood up and planned to have a meal outside the base. Learning of Phyllis' restaurant, she preferred to eat there as Ein helped to perfect the recipes. They were all ruined from eating his food.

"Mei. Where are you going?" Kevin asked her. "I'll go to Phyllis' restaurant. There's a bit of chaos in Moth right now, and I don't want to get a headache." She sighed heavily and massaged her temple.

"Ein huh? Is he still wreaking havoc all over the world?" He saw him burn half of Australia to the ground. He shuddered, thinking if he was to ever decided to go rogue. He'll annihilate them all in a heartbeat.

"Yeah, it's only natural... And we can't do anything." She shrugged.

"Let's go, I'll accompany you as your guard. You're too high profile now to walk alone outside the base." Her popularity was through the roof, being so young. But already a top executive of Moth. Some attackers would be bound to appear.

They left the base quickly. Not wanting to draw any attention and possibly get forced to work and de escalate the chaos.

Mobius was still watching Ein destroy honkai beasts with immense speed. "Ahhh~ Finally, I can taste the fruits of my labor." She licked her lips.

"Mobius..." A voice resounded from behind her. As Elysia appeared with a serious face, quite contrary to her always smiling expression and bubbly personality.

"Did I qualify for any honkai beast to integrate?" She asked succinctly as she saw what Mobius was watching. Making her frown from the destruction he was causing.

"Elysia... Yes, yes you did. It's quite the interesting one as well. You can integrate with Mahesvara, the ICHOR of it will be ready in a couple of days." She said without turning to Elysia, focused on Ein.

Elysia clenched her fists. "Then inform me when I can go with it. I'll be undergoing the surgery immediately."

"I will let you know then. Prepare yourself, it will be unpleasant." Mobius looked at her briefly, as her eyes squinted at Elysia.

With Kevin and Mei. He looked at Mei's hand as he stared at his own. I can't even touch her anymore... I guess this is the price for the procedure. He thought gloomily.

They finished quickly and was about to return to the base, when a pink haired girl brandished her sword and attacked Mei.

"Mei! You're the brains of Moth. You must perish for all the suffering you've caused." She swung her sword, but Kevin immediately blocked with his bare arms. Surprising the girl greatly.

He then put her down on the ground as he incapacitated her. "Mei, what should we do with her?" He asked while easily restraining the girl.

"Let's take her back to Moth. She might have information that we could extract." As the girl visibly flinched from her words.

"Ugh, kill me now. I won't talk!" She struggled fiercely, but she couldn't even move Kevin even an inch.

Ein was still 'cleaning up'. He didn't use the divine keys anymore as he just squashed them all with telekinesis and formed them to a ball, then ate them like hard candy. Similar to a certain pink villain.

"Hmmm, there's no more left here." He was about to go. But with his final search, he felt a human. He went to the place to evacuate the lone person quickly, and he saw a woman with light brown hair. Kneeling on the ground, her hands together, like in a prayer.

"Don't you know it's dangerous here lady. Let's go." He gave his hand to the woman as she opened her eyes and stared at him with deep blue eyes. (pic here)

"Hmmmm? You are different... Who are you? Outlander?" She asked him a cryptic question as he frowned.

"I am Einheri, call me Ein. Now, let's go. I don't have time to waste." He was about to pull her arm and fly away.

"You aren't from here... I can't see it. Your soul is not from this world." She said softly. Quickly gaining his attention as he narrowed his eyes at her.

"Who are you?" He said in a firm voice as she surveyed him from head to toe.

"I am Aponia. You, however... That is your other name? Perhaps 2nd? Or even 3rd?" She asked as she tilted her head.

What. How does this woman know that... I need to learn how she learnt that. "What did you see? Do you know something about me?"

She closed her eyes and looked like she prayed. As he felt some tingling on his skin. "Your fate... I can't see it. You are not of this world are you?" She narrowed her eyes at him.

"What do you mean? And I felt something, did you try and do anything? Answer me." He held her shoulders.

"I tried to look at your fate, but it was for naught. And don't lie outlander, there is no use. But, I need to know more about you. What is your purpose in this world." She touched his forehead and chest. Like she saw an unfamiliar being.

He then floated her up as he flew to an abandoned house. He put her inside and left food and water, enough for a month. "I'll get back to you in a few days. You know things that nobody does. Stay here quietly for now."

He then took out thick plates of metal. As he encased the house inside and buried it deep into the ground. "She'll live. I'll have to know your secrets girl."

Flying high, he then went to the next place infested with honkai beasts. Assimilating as much as he can and powering up.

In a basement in Moth, a pink haired girl was tied up and locked down completely. She couldn't even move a finger. (pic here)

Her bluish purple eyes glared at Mei. "Hmm, you are SAKURA. And what do we have here... You seem to have a sister? And she's named RIN."

Sakura's eyes widened as she struggled against the restraints violently. "Woah, calm down girl. Your sister is right here at this base, nice and safe... You don't want anything to happen to her right?" Mei asked her with a sweet voice.

Sakura gritted her teeth as she looked down on the ground. "What do you want?"

Mei clapped. "Easy, who wanted to attack me? And you're pretty good. I didn't even see your attack even though I knew it was coming. So, how about we make a deal? Your sister's protection from the honkai. And you work for a certain division inside Moth."

Sakura gritted her teeth with anger. "Don't you try anything with my sister! Or it'll be the last thing you'll do..." She shouted, as her rage was felt just with her words.

"Hmm, that depends on you. Now. Go on and talk." Mei gestured to Kevin as they started to interrogate the girl.

After a few days. Ein returned to Aponia as he pried open the metal box she was in. "Aponia. Come with me." He took her out of the house as they flew to the base.

After they returned, he immediately put her inside his room and shut it down, so no one would enter. "Alright then. Talk." He narrowed his eyes at her.

She nodded and started to talk with a soft voice. "Einheri. You are not from this world. And you know it. This world's fate is to be destroyed, just like the rest... But your appearance here changes everything. Are you perhaps an apostle?"

He frowned at her question. An apostle? Is this girl a fanatic or something? Well, technically. I am an apostle of Genesis, kind of.

"No. And what do you mean this world will be destroyed?" He asked about her worrying prophecy.

"An unknown and untouchable thread that tightly binds everyone together. And the ending is sealed, as I saw it. But you... You are the only exception." She pointed at him and stared.

What does she mean? Can she predict the future or something? I can't leave her alone out there. "Then, what do you want with me?"

She pointed at him again. "You. You have limitless fates, not tied to one. And that, is the mark of an apostle. A being that transcends fate. Ein-sama, please allow me to follow you to greatness." She prayed to him as she closed her eyes.

He got what she meant and bonked her lightly on the head. "I'm no apostle Aponia. And I can't just leave you out there... Hah, whatever. Just stay here for now and do what you want." He massaged his temples.

"Thank you, Ein-sama. This world shall be saved by your greatness. And I will help in your endeavors." She kneeled and looked up at him.

He frowned as he floated her up and seated her once again. "Sure, whatever." I can't keep up with this lady. I'm bad at these types. He then left and went to unwind.

Arriving at his tree and field of flowers, he saw a pink haired girl, a middle schooler in age. Admiring the sakura blossoms and flowers.

"Hey, who are you? I haven't seen you here before?" He squinted his eyes at her as she shivered from his aura.

"Ahhh. Um. I'm Rin. Forgive me sir. I just wanted to enjoy the view, I didn't expect to see a blooming sakura tree here, and it reminded me of home." She fidgeted as she answered shyly.

He sighed and went near her. "So? What are you doing here kid?" He asked with a softer voice to not startle her.

"My sister was recruited to Moth sir. Dr. Mei told me to start living near here at the base. So I went to visit my sister." She nervously answered.

"Hmmm, Mei huh? I'm Einheri. I'm Mei's colleague. Just call me Ein, and come on. Let's enjoy the atmosphere." He walked to the base of the tree and sat down.

She slowly followed as she sat beside him and gathered the courage to talk. "Umm Dr. Ein. Is it true? That Moth are bad guys that the government made to suppress and oppress the people?" She asked, worried about her sister.

"Hmm. That's a great question kid... Like every organization, it has ups and downs. You can't change humans." He said with a sigh, as he took out some candy and drinks and gave it to her.

"Honestly, you should live your life like it's the very last day kid. You'll understand me when the time comes." He looked at the ground as he started to reminisce.

Another girl then came. Running to them as she started to pant. "Rin! Why did you leave the base? What if I lost you or something?" The girl said with a worried voice.

"Sorry sister, I just saw this tree from the distance and couldn't help myself." She smiled wryly as she stood up.

"Sorry for accompanying her. I am Sakura, what is your name good sir?" She bowed slightly at him.

"Hmm, a good mannered girl. I'm Einheri, call me Ein. And if Mei recruited you, then you must be at cocoon? Don't disappoint me. Your training will start soon." He stood up as he left.

"Rin. Do you know who that man is?" She felt a dangerous vibe from him as she started to sweat.

"Un, he's Dr. Ein, he said he was your boss' colleague. He was... I would say a deep person, and kind as well." She smiled lightly as she held the candies he gave her.

"Is that so? Then you must be right. You've never been wrong in judging other people. Let's go, Rin." They left the area, talking about what they'll do next.
