Chapter 2 - Whispers

"Brother, I need you to protect me until it is done." The air cracked with lightning, the blackened ground broke as a woman spoke, her voice sounding as if it echoed, calling out to the distance of which she could not see.

"Do what you must, I will make sure none disturb you, sister." A deep voice echoed back, causing the woman to smile as the being always answered her call. Her arms moved side to side, her skin over her heart glowed green with each beat of it.

The wind around her seemed to change into clouds, the tattoos around her shoulders, back, stomach, thighs, and legs glowed as she watched the stone twist with the metal. Smoke that cracked with light seemed to come from the

tattoos as the earth split beneath her feet. The sky blackened as clouds appeared within moments, and a circle of lightning etched itself into the sky far above her, yet the twisted and ever-changing stone rippled, sending a line of electricity into the sky.

"Enchantress!" The woman who was at work on her great weapon, kept her back to the entrance of the flat temple, her mind only focused on the task at hand was brought out by a yell.

The woman's eyes showed a flash of yellow, watching the woman with golden blonde hair swing her sword, her body stepping back lightly as she held out her hand, electricity cracking off it as lines of lightning kept the blade from hitting her body.

"Hippolyta.." Enchantress said, striking out with her leg as she kicked Hippolyta away. Watching as her body flew, hitting a rock as it cracked. "Here you are again, becoming a thorn in our side at every turn." Enchantress continues, the energy still coming off her body but she still gave Hippolyta some of her attention.

"It is only in your side.. he does not want this." Hippolyta's voice echoed out, groaning slightly as she pushed the large stone off her body, her lips dripping blood lightly as she held her sword out to Enchantress.

"And what do you know of his wants, look at what side you stand on, before speaking on matters you don't understand." Enchantress's eyes flashed golden as she shot lightning towards Hippolyta who rushed her.

"I know better than you, you merely use his love for you to do what you please." dodging the lightning as she rushed forward, using her shield to brush the lightning to the side as it was sent flying from her hand, her striking out over and over as Enchantress used lightning to block the blade.

"It was you who changed him, and he for you. But you still stand on their side, even as we left your world alone." Enchantress spoke back, her hand missing a strike as it cut her skin, as a kick was sent to her stomach, yet she only bent slightly unlike Hippolyta.

"Yet you punished the very people who worship you, using them as toys as you whisper lies to your brother." Hippolyta said as she and Enchantress locked hands, her sword being gripped by Enchantress whose eyes glowed even more.

"They were not lies, do your gods not punish their believers, sending thunderstorms and great floods!" Enchantress yelled, her and Hippolyta's face close as they spoke to each other. "But unlike your gods, we lived among them, not sitting on high, as we tried to better them with our own hands." She continued, letting go of the sword as it hit her shoulder, her arm moving back as she punched Hippolyta to the ground.

The force of the blow sent out a small Shockwave, the air rippling as dust kicked up, the ground cracking as Hippolyta's body dug into the ground below slightly. Her arms pushed her from the ground as she groaned in pain, her hand moving to wipe blood from her lips as she looked at the cracked floor below her.

"Yet unlike our gods, you could not stop, wanting to destroy them for the sake of your pride. Even when your brother wished to leave this world." Hippolyta said, spitting blood on the ground as she spoke with sorrow in her voice.

"I wished to reshape this world, even if it meant starting over. Even if he wished to leave, we both know he could not leave you. When you rejected his invitation to join us in his travels, your refusal is what sealed this world's fate." Enchantress said with anger in each word, her hand pulling the sword out of her shoulder as she threw it to the ground.

"I could not, this is my home, everything I am was given to me by the gods. To protect the world and man, I could not.. but.." Hippolyta spoke clearly with sadness at the decision she had made.

"A world that rejected us, him, but he would gladly give up on this world for your sake. Can you not see! humans will always turn on those above them, no matter who it is. Starting over again will change man so that they will never rise up again." Enchantress said, while a distortion rippled around her wounds, closing them as she turned her head to the east.

"You have no right to take away their free will." Hippolyta fought back against her words, her body being struck with lightning as she was sent sliding along the stone floor. "Whatever you might say, the world's fate was sealed the moment it rejected you, you merely do not have the power alone to change it, so you use him to enforce your will on man." Hippolyta continued, lifting her body up as she pulled a rope from her side, spinning it as she threw it at her swords hilt, pulling it back into her hand.

"Free will, let me ask you Hippolyta, when we left your world alone, what did the humans do when they saw the strength of you Amazons, and Atlanteans? Did they show gratefulness? and what did they do to us? Were we supposed to roll over and allow them to do so, even as we cut off the bridge of world's, your gods used the humans anger to rise up." Enchantress did not stop Hippolyta allowing her to take her sword, instead she asked a question, and explained events that happened. "They were never going to let us go, look at their faces, what joy they have to see hero's and gods. Did you know it was the same when we first arrived? Now tell me Hippolyta, what will they do next." Enchantress continued as the sky cracked even more, her hands moving up as stones and metal were sent floating into the sky by her brother.

Hippolyta looked around her, her skin feeling strange as she watched Enchantress's creation rotate even more. The words spoken to her made her bite her lip, but she could not turn her back on the people she protected. "This world will always grow, humans will change, we will guide them down a better path as we have done for thousands of years." Hippolyta had spoken, yet her words even to herself sounded like a convoluted excuse.

"Even you do not believe your words." Enchantress spoke as she shook her head, her hands rising as clear like tendrils shot from the ground, attaching to Hippolyta's spine as her eyes started to glow.

"Do you not wish for this world." Enchantress's voice echoed around Hippolyta, the world taken over by fog as it flashed white, Hippolyta found herself in a bed sweating, her body aching with pain but she could feel her small hand in another larger one.

"Yo-fa ac-ha hum-a."(You will be fine my love.) The being beside her rubbed her head, his caressing gentle as it made her body relax, a smile coming to his lips as she gripped his hand even tighter.

"Tu-cae lu-nav a-vik." (How are you here love) Hippolyta asked, her eyes looking at amazons around her take sheets and warm water as they asked her to push, her mouth getting out her words of Moonspeak that she learned from him.

"Tu-fka la-noy lav-eh."(i am always here.) The being brought her closer to his chest, Hippolyta could feel his warmth radiate from his skin as she pushed. Her mind was happy to be close, even if it felt clouded, she still yelled and pushed in his embrace which made her feel so safe.

*crying

Hippolyta's head fell heavily back into the man's hand, the sheets below her a mess as her energy was gone, only to hear the cries of a baby. Yet no matter how much she smiled and called out, the baby was never given to her, her head falling back as the man disappeared, her body stuck as a whisper reached her ears.

"And this is what you fear.." Hippolyta looked around the room, her body stuck on the bed but her eyes could see Enchantress holding a small baby within her hands, making faces as her eyes shot over to Hippolyta, that seemed to glowed brighter as they mixed with the dark background that encompassed her vision.

"Please.. no.." Hippolyta got out words, fear wrapping her heart in a sea of black mud, wanting to drag her into the depths of her own powerlessness.

"It is not me you fear, you fear what I do, Hippolyta." Enchantress spoke as her body appeared next to Hippolyta, her eyes flashing as she watched her be eaten up by the covers around her body.

*Echoing

Hippolyta yelled but no voice came out, her body shaking as she stood awkwardly, holding her head as she looked around her, the sun was shining peacefully, her eyes taking in the beautiful forest below that stretched out to the rolling sea. The world seemed to be in perfect balance, the falling fire mixing well with the green of the forest, her eyes looking down as she watched a baby move within her arms. Her sleeping face was so peaceful in her eyes, the blue of her eyes opening for a moment seemed to suck the world of its beauty as she smiled.

"Hum-a! (love) Incubus's voice called out, scaring Hippolyta back to reality, watching the pillars around the open room like Inca temple shake as Incubus rushed forward. Only for a massive bolt to hit him in the chest, sending him flying out into a pillar as he flew out of the temple causing it to shake.

"Hum-a!" Hippolyta yelled, watching the temple shake as she gripped her baby, her body blocking the stone that fell from the roof, uncaring about the pain as long as her child was safe.

Her body finally made it across the large room, her legs stopping as she leaned into a pillar, only for her eyes to be met with a sea of fire covered in ash, the sky no longer beautiful as it blackened, her eyes blinking slowly as she looked at the hundreds upon hundreds of men with their bows drawn as they aimed at Hippolyta.

The world seemed to move in slow motion, the sky cracking with thunder, every droplet of water taking its time to reach the earth below. Splashing as it hit her forehead, running down her cheeks as she looked down at her child, her hands gripping as she pulled the baby into her embrace, her body falling to her knees as she placed her forehead to the babies.

"Hu-lak ev-ah ru." (I am here little one.) her words ringing out, softly as if to be heard by no one, her world mixing into black as she smiled.

*rough breathing

Hippolyta soon opened her eyes, her body on all fours as she was sweating, her heart pounding in her chest as she brought her shaking hands to her cheeks, feeling the water come from them as she stood frozen in time.

"uh-la mar-aku la-veru." A whisper of wind reached her ears, licking at sweet nothings in her mind.

"That is what you fear.."
