44 Out of the Cinema

'Can I take you as my master?'

These were Mr. Smile's words that were still echoing in the heads of the viewers. It was not so shocking to see a villain alive. What was shocking is the fact that the said villain actually wanted to serve you.

The end credits eventually rolled and the audience stood up to applaud the cinematic piece that they had seen.

It somehow ended on a cliffhanger but the enjoyment that the movie brought was not one to easily forget.

Eventually, the moviegoers had to leave their seats, however, the feeling of loss and reluctance was following with them.

While others were still dragging their feet with nostalgia, other movie enthusiast had their own traditions to see through the end of the boring end credits.

If someone were truly detail-oriented, they would find that the producer and screenwriter list had gaps.

It would flicker to show a bit of light and the letters that would appear in that split of a split second were distinctly familiar with the first name in the casting list.

That was Alexander Creed!

The film cartridge eventually ran out until the screen went black and white.

Just as these traditional people were about to leave as well, the projector-in-charge changed what was being projected.

People didn't know that it was an early intermission time and also stopped to watch what good commercials or movies should they look out for next.

When they saw and heard the trailer being played first, they had their excitement at its peak.

So much so, that they ran outside to tell people first-hand information that only the stubborn him has.

"Hey, dude! You've watched Kid Psychic right?! There is actually a second movie!"

His words attracted the attention of those that were still strung with the cliffhanger and a new 'buzz' was buzzing around.

It wasn't only this theatre as every place that played Kid Psychic had the same screening schedule as already disclosed.

The first screening schedule goes as this: the trailer of the first movie, the first movie, and lastly, the trailer of the second movie.

It all went with the schedule and the theatre owners were happy to oblige due to the generous tip that Old Sullivan gave them.

It wasn't a lot but money is still money despite just being pocket change. The next screenings didn't have to follow that schedule, of course. Old Sullivan was quite as stingy as his grandson.

Outside of the cinemas, discussions would always occur and it is just as interesting as when people would line up to get their tickets.

"Daddy, can we buy tickets again?!" The cutie asked her distressed father who answered. "No! We are going home!"

"But... James is so cute and powerful! I want to see him again!" She reasoned with justness and had to turn to her trusted mommy when her daddy was ignoring her. "Mommy, can we watch James and the spirits again?!"

"Okay, sweetie! But maybe later since we have to go home." The mommy was not one to spoil her daughter at this time as it was already late and they had other matters to attend to.

"Yey! You are so good to me, mommy! When I am getting married to James, only you will be invited and daddy can be stopped by the receptionists." The cutie said aloud and successfully struck an arrow into her father's heart.

The mother chuckled at her daughter's antics and can't help but feel sorry for her overprotective husband. "Okay! Okay! Remember, you should grow up first, sweetie."

The family of three went their way along with the memory of the events of the Kid Psychic movie.

While the little cutie was idol-worshipping the powerful James Smith along with the other girls, the boys and teens were trying to find the inner power inside them.

They laughed at Jonathan's attempt to bend spoons and move litter with his non-esper mind but when they were alone, they cranked up their brain farts to just prove that they are psychics.

Who didn't want to be as powerful and special as the titular kid psychic?

As the kids had their idols and character imitations, the teens were having them as well.

No matter how developing they are into being adults, it still couldn't be denied that they were children at heart. They also wanted to be something more than the bland life they had now.

Hence, the main target for the recently established summer files was slowly hooked in. While Jaws baited them into the theatres, Kid Psychic was there to deal with the finishing blow.

The child main character, psychic, and ghost themes were too attractive to kids and kids at heart like teenagers. This was a great advantage that Jaws would not be able to bridge.

A theme of a fearful shark in the dark depths just screams danger signs to the young innocents. Since there was a much more fun and attractive alternative, then why go to see the talked-about Great White?

It was an era where murder and darker themes were prevalent, and an uplifting and child-oriented film would have a stage to showcase itself.

Although adults were hard to be convinced, they were still immersed in the worldview that James introduced them to.

The thought that their dead relatives, neighbors, and strangers were still lurking around made them rethink the inexplicable moments in their lifetime.

Glasses breaking, the chill that is uncalled for, the feeling of being watched, and the grudge that the wandering spirits had against them.

It may not be too prevalent in the news but guilty people confessing their heinous acts to the police were suddenly a thing.

Their guilt and paranoia may have led from one thing to another. They must have been afraid that they would be the next to be paralyzed after Mr. Bentham.

In their households, the boogeyman, dead librarians, and roaming ghosts became their go-to scare tactic for their kids and it all worked well for them.

The ghost, spirit, and psychic phenomena were all well and good but there would always be Jonathan or Reigen wannabes.

Fraud psychics claiming that they were able to see the dead were becoming all the rage for moneymaking schemes.

It isn't too touched upon but popular movies truly have their own influence on society, whether it be big or small.
