My headcannon on this is that Schultz would go for hyper expansion and with that come the need for more finds, making it so that Alexander can't cover all the basis, needing for outside investment. In turn, diluting that 100% and that's where Schultz can swoop in. Not really sure if this is how it works, as I'm no expert, but that's how I tried to make sense of it.

Technically, the start of April 1987, novel-wise. April Fools, either way, so why not beach volleyball. And as a note, I've started writing and posting other things... Keep in mind that this is from a character that doesn't show much emotion, a simple upward curve of the lips should be quite the noticeable change. Besides, the gist of the chapter is Old Sullivan overblowing a simple scenario, it doesn't necessarily mean that Alexander is smiling all the time. It could be that he's having random bouts of smiling throughout the day and all that, subconsciously or the celebratory mood getting to him. All in all, it is what it is, no need to question the sanity and realness of it. This is still just a fanfic, after all.

I actually want to stay away from some numerics and pricing as I feel that it's wouldn't be correct either way. There are exceptions though.

I've already written 445+ chapters at this point and yes... all of this supposed detriment is very much included and part of the story.
