Chapter 2 Welcome to Diagon Alley

The golden light dissipated and a card and an egg appeared in front of Luke's eyes. Luke had seen the card before, his three unforgivable spells were obtained from the skill card. But this egg was really the first time he had seen it.

But he picked up the skill card first.

[Skill Card: Call to God's Guard

Introduction: Calling on the best memories within to form a guardian god, a symbol of one's goodness

Caution: The skill card can only be used by the host himself; please make sure you really have good memories before practicing this thing].

The corners of Luke's mouth twitched slightly, he really liked this skill, he had a good feeling about this spell when he watched the movie back then. But whether it was in his past life or this one, his memories were not good for now.

With a soft sigh, although it wasn't the spell he wanted the most right now, this wasn't bad either. Ripping the card out of his hand, it turned into particles of light and poured into Luke's head from where his temple was. Luke's skill bar also added the words 'Hoojin Guard Level 0 (0/1)'.

There was no practicing, but hopefully he would have a bit of a better memory to use when he got to Hogwarts.

Luke shook his head gently, then looked at the egg. Holding the egg up with both hands, the egg's message appeared in Luke's mind.

[Name: Serpent Monster's Egg (Improved Version)

Introduction: This is a very special snake monster egg, so it will hatch a very peculiar snake monster

Note: The egg can be hatched by placing it in the system storage, but it needs to be removed when it comes out of its shell; the countdown to hatching is 67 days, 16 hours and 44 minutes; please stay tuned :)]

Luke was indeed quite excited about the little one that would hatch from this egg. After all, you know that the last time the box with the golden light gave something that was worth a lot just by looking at it. But this time there was only one skill card for the Hulk God's Protector that obviously didn't match, which meant that the value of the egg would have to be matched by the Slytherin's wand at least.

Shoving the egg into his storage compartment and looking at the countdown on it, Luke nodded in satisfaction. Even if the system didn't give it, Ter was going to get a smarter snake to be his pet. Although the letter said that the pets you could take were owls, cats and toads, there were a variety of pets in the wizarding world, and a snake should be within the range of acceptance of the professors at Hogwarts ... probably?

The next day dawned and Luke started his morning exercises early with the sunrise.

As a wizard, a good body was also an absolute must. After all, whether it was researching magic potions or magical spells, the body had to be strong enough to survive. Not to mention magical zoologists who sometimes need to wrestle with magical animals ...

After a brief physical workout, Luke started practicing magic spells again.

  "! (Flames blaze!)"

A large ball of fire erupted from the tip of Luke's wand in his hand and blasted towards a large rock not far away. The fireball crashed into the stone and the wave of fire flooded the entire stone. The heat of the flames burnt the stone with a cracking sound.

After a few moments, the flames dissipated and the stone became charred and cracked, but there were no more signs of damage.

Luke looked helplessly at the stone in front of him and the lack of proficiency, he could only increase his proficiency by about 10 rounds with practice alone, and for Luke now, he could only release 20 of these full power spells with his whole body drained of magic power, at the cost of not having the strength to practice for the rest of the day. So now Luke could only practice while resting, which was just too inefficient.

"You should lower the tip of your wand down a bit, and when you recite the spell, the endings should be short and swift, yours is still too long. Also think of the effect you want the flame spell to achieve as you recite the spell."

A voice that you could tell was stern came from the edge of the clearing.

Luke furrowed his brow and thought carefully, then raised his wand and aimed it at the large rock, simulating in his mind the effect he wanted, which was certainly a reasonable one.

  "Flames blaze!"

This time it was not a ball of fire that burst from Luke's wand, but a cone of fire, the tip of which pierced viciously into the stone and burst open immediately. A sizeable crater appeared in the stone.

Luke's fire spell proficiency rose by 3 points. He was overjoyed.

But Luke quickly collected his excitement. Turning to the woman over there, he bowed earnestly and thanked her, "Thank you for your guidance."

Professor McGonagall looked at the obviously polite and intelligent child in front of her and nodded in satisfaction.

"Luke Gaunt, I am Minerva McGonagall, Vice-Principal of Hogwarts and Dean of Gryffindor, you may call me Professor McGonagall, I am here to guide you in your purchases and to give you some guidance before you start school."

Professor McGonagall's task did not include an orientation, it was an unspoken rule of adult wizards to keep the house a mystery. After all, it was good to keep the children curious and in awe of the school.

However, after Professor McGonagall actually saw Luke, she did have a little something of her own in mind.

  Luke thanked again, "Thank you."

With that, he got up and led the way towards his cabin, saying to Professor McGonagall as he went, "Professor, please come into the house for a cup of coffee. Have you had your breakfast? Would you like to join us for a bit?"

Professor McGonagall had no intention of being polite to Luke either, now that she was getting to know the child of eccentric origins, she was not going to miss such an opportunity.

"Yes, prepare some for me too, boy." Professor McGonagall said as she followed Luke's back.

The two approached the house and Luke dragged out a chair for the professor to sit in. He himself went to the kitchen and began his own show.

The magical cooking utensils leapt gracefully around the kitchen and the ingredients were laid out by the pots in almost the blink of an eye. Professor McGonagall had a good eye, but she had no idea what a mixture of green beans, ham, rice, corn and carrots would make.

But watching Luke's fluid movements and the aroma that wafted out of the kitchen between stir-fries and straight to her nostrils made Professor McGonagall feel confident that the meal would taste good.

Luke moved quickly and it wasn't long before he arrived at the table with two bowls of rice.

"Yangzhou fried rice, Professor, enjoy it gently."

He said as he pushed the rice in front of the professor and handed over a spoon. Professor McGonagall looked at the delicate spoon in her hand, feeling the warm texture and the beautiful serpentine pattern on it, especially the magic power implied in it. Seriously, Professor McGonagall was a well-known figure in the magical world. But it was the first time he had eaten with a spoon made of the bones of a magical animal, although he didn't know what species it was ...

The food in front of her was of a colour and flavor she had never seen before either. But there was no doubt that this was definitely not British food ...

"Yangzhou fried rice? This is ..."

Before she could finish her sentence, she saw Luke was using two small wooden sticks, skillfully picking up the rice and bringing it to his mouth.

Luke heard the professor's voice, so he swallowed the fried rice in his mouth and spoke in confusion, "What's wrong professor?"

  "You've been to China?"

Professor McGonagall asked suspiciously, speaking up.

Luke shook his head, "Not really, but my family went far away back then, to the East, and what I have now, I learned from the notes they left behind again. Hopefully what I have learned is authentic enough."

This was a half-truth. It was true that this branch of the Gaunt family that Luke was a part of, or rather the main branch, had really spent a long time in the East, and it was false that these cooking skills had been practised by Luke in a previous life. After all, one must know more or less all these crafts after living for a long time.

Professor McGonagall nodded, there was no way to look deeper into such matters, whatever Luke said would be the case.

So with the spoon in her hand, she took a spoonful of rice into her mouth. A feeling that could almost be described as happiness just shot straight from her tongue to her head. The elves at Hogwarts were good at what they did, but this was really the first time she had ever had Chinese food like this.

But thinking about it, Professor McGonagall once again asked, somewhat puzzled, "Where are your house pokemon?"

But any family with a little bit of money would basically have pokemon, especially in the homes of pure-blooded nobles, where pokemon were basically a necessity, because in their eyes, doing their own chores was an insult to their bloodline.

From this point of view, the boy in front of him really didn't look like a pureblood noble, and a rather noble one at that.

"He's dead, I buried him and those heads that were on the wall earlier." Luke took a sip of water and then said seriously, "That kind of stuff doesn't count for much in the way of honour or heritage."

As he said this, Professor McGonagall clearly sensed the pride and nobility in Luke, and even felt his contempt for the existing aristocratic traditions.

Professor McGonagall didn't say anything more though, just nodded and went back to eating. Luke did not continue to say anything either, and likewise continued to eat.

Sunlight poured over the vase of flowers on the table, and the sunflowers held their heads proudly high, reflecting the golden sunlight.

Finishing his fried rice in one gulp, Professor McGonagall took a satisfying sip of his water. Then to Luke, who had also finished eating, he said, "Come on, I'll take you to Diagon Alley and buy some of the things you need."

Luke smiled and nodded, "Yes, Professor."

Professor McGonagall looked around and then was ready to walk towards the fireplace.

"No, Professor." Luke spoke up to stop, "My fireplace is not linked to the flyway network."

If it was indeed linked to the flyway network then Luke wouldn't have asked the professor for help, after all, despite looking like a child, he couldn't actually be too old to even buy a thing.

Professor McGonagall nodded, she had also sensed on the way here that there were some restrictions on phantom shifting all over the place, so it must be that the Knight Bus wouldn't come here either.

But while such restrictions existed, they were still not difficult for a wizard of Professor McGonagall's level to break through.

But then, it was no wonder that the boy had asked for his teacher's help. After all, it was from here to Diagon Alley. It was still a bit tough for a child.

The most important thing that Professor McGonagall didn't know was that Luke was most worried because he didn't know exactly where the Cauldron Bar was located, it was just a 'whoosh' in the movie, and it was a real worry to find it. After all, at this point in time, someone would definitely be leading the way, and there was no need to bother looking for it himself.

"Come over to me, then. I hope you can handle that feeling."

When Luke heard that, he also knew that Professor McGonagall was going to take him with her in a phantom shift. At the bottom of his heart he was a little expectant and a little worried. After all, the depiction of this magic in the original was nothing short of wonderful.

But he walked over anyway. Having endured all three knees, there was no sense in going wrong on this last shiver.

Professor McGonagall could see Luke's apprehension and smiled in relief, "No, son, it's not that awful. You won't enjoy the sensation, but trust me, it's convenient enough."

Luke smiled back at that and nodded, the uneasy look on his face cutting down considerably. Taking the initiative, he grabbed Professor McGonagall's cuff.

Professor McGonagall smiled, then waved her wand gently with her other hand.

  ". (Phantom Shift.)"

With a crisp popping sound, Professor McGonagall and Luke disappeared from the area.

Luke just felt like he had been shoved into something, the deep darkness and suffocating squeeze was sickening.

But it was still within acceptable limits. What's more, the sensation didn't last long. Almost the next instant he felt relief and light appeared before his eyes again.

  "We're here, son, Diagon Alley."

Professor McGonagall's voice rang in Luke's ears, and together with it came the cacophony of human voices. Luke opened his eyes and let out a long sigh of relief as he looked at the small, but crowded and slightly overcrowded street in front of him.

He had finally arrived, the real wizard's world.
