Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 51.2

Wayne had calculated the rate of wear and tear on purpose, knowing that young wizards had limited budgets and couldn't spend too much on maps. If he hadn't considered that, he would have designed the maps as consumables that would break every month.

Wayne handled the distribution, Cho collected the money, and Hermione maintained the accounts. The three of them busied themselves for over an hour until finally, no one else came to buy maps.

"Quick, let's count how much we've made!"

Hermione's face flushed with excitement as she replied, "I've been calculating! We made a total of 120 Galleons and 650 Sickles!"

"Wayne, you're amazing! Earning so much in just an afternoon!" Cho looked at him in admiration; her allowance for an entire year was only twenty Galleons, and her parents' combined monthly earnings barely came close to that amount.

Wayne earned in a day what she would spend on living at Hogwarts for a year.

"That's not how the accounts work," Wayne shook his head, not as jubilant as the two girls. "I've been working on this for a week. The material costs money too, and most importantly, fewer people will be buying our maps in the future."

"You're right," Hermione realized, but she was still very happy. She glanced at the accounts, then excitedly added, "Those Slytherins haven't bought much yet; they really have a lot of money."

Of the maps sold, only six were purchased by Slytherins. However, without exception, the only ones who bought the premium versions were them, apart from two people—Harry and Neville.

Having made so much money from the purebloods, Hermione surprisingly felt they weren't so terrible after all. For the wealthy pureblood families, money wasn't a problem; what they pursued was standing out and being different.

"Come on, money time!" Wayne waved his hand, leading the two young witches into an abandoned classroom. Over a hundred Galleons and several hundred Sickles were scattered across the table, glittering and dazzling to their eyes.

"Let's convert the 650 Sickles into 40 Galleons; it'll make calculating easier. That brings the total to 160 Galleons. Here, each of you gets 24 coins; keep it safe."

Wayne quickly calculated and pushed a small handful of gold coins toward the two witches.

"Is it really okay to take so much?" Cho hesitated, "I didn't really help much."

"This is what we agreed on; no backing out now," Wayne insisted, not allowing for any rebuttal, and stuffed the money into their pockets.

"From now on, there will be more products available, and I will need your help at that time. I can't manage everything on my own. Wayne genuinely doesn't care about that little money; his points are calculated based on the item's selling price. As long as the little wizard spends one Galleon, five points are instantly credited.

Seeing his firm attitude, Cho and Hermione exchanged glances and could only respond helplessly.

In the Slytherin common room, first-year student Blaise Zabini was showing off the map he had just bought.

"Did you see this? This map can show Filch's location. What's that idiot doing wandering around the third floor, like a headless chicken?"

A group of students gathered around him, finding it amusing as well.

"Zabini, where did you get this?"

"I bought it from Lawrence," Zabini said, lifting his chin proudly, "It's not expensive—only ten Galleons."

"That's really cheap," others around him nodded in agreement.

Who knows how many were sincere in their admiration or merely pretending? Even if they genuinely thought it was expensive, they couldn't show it; they had to uphold the honor of pure-bloods.

"Hmph."

Watching Zabini being surrounded by people, Malfoy felt a mix of envy and resentment, letting out a disdainful snort. This kind of attention should have been reserved for him. He, Malfoy, was a first-year prefect.

"What's the big deal? It's just a bit of money," Malfoy mumbled under his breath. "That Lawrence again."

Unlike his pure, irrational hatred for Harry, Malfoy's feelings for Wayne were purely ones of contempt and jealousy. Coming from a mudblood background, he was somehow smarter than Malfoy, a pure-blood, and constantly praised by the professors. Now he had this ridiculous map and had once again become the focus of discussion among the students. Even a scion of the Malfoy family did not receive such attention.

"Let's go!"

Malfoy stood up angrily.

Crabbe asked blankly, "Where to?"

"Let's go find Lawrence and buy a map!"

The Slytherin common room is also located in the basement like Hufflepuff's but is closer to the Black Lake. To reach Hufflepuff's common room, they first have to go to the Great Hall and then down again.

Hoping to purchase a map before curfew, Malfoy knew he had to act quickly. Although he didn't want to give Wayne any money, he felt he had to have what others had.

Otherwise, people might think the Malfoy family was declining.

He found a Hufflepuff student and asked him to call Wayne out, while Malfoy waited with his two lackeys.

At the bank, Wayne soon came out. He was chatting with Cedric in the common room, and Cedric was very interested in the revealing charm on the map; it was significantly different from what he had learned.

Wayne had even found an improved version from the restricted section of the library and didn't hold back, teaching the spell to Cedric.

"Malfoy, did you need something?"

"Hmm."

Malfoy still had that irritating attitude, lifting his chin, but unfortunately, he was shorter than Wayne and could only look up at him. "Do you still have that map for sale? I want a copy—the most expensive one."

"The promax version?"

Malfoy waved his hand impatiently, "The one that can mark Filch's location. Hurry up."

"Okay, of course, just wait for me to get it."

Wayne replied, darting back into the common room for the map. Five minutes later, he returned.

Seeing the map, Malfoy didn't want to talk much with Wayne, just handed over the money and prepared to leave.

Just then, he heard Wayne's scoff from behind him.

"Well, the Malfoy family isn't all that, are they? Just resorting to using the same things as everyone else.""
