A father's worries! POV No. 1

Septimus Aethelred's POV

(MC's father)

It is said, the greatest joy of a man's life, is when he sees his son and legacy become capable and competent enough. But it is truly, when you see your son's potential to surpass you, your forefathers and become a legend to be immortalized.

And yet, the turning point of his son's life, when he had his closest brush with death, when the Werewolf was going to kill him, and he was saved by a Lethifold of all things was a thought of nightmare, that haunted him and the love of his life.

It was an astounding sight to see the unkillable creature stand guard on his son, and it was unbearable to see his wife become lifeless with grief and despair.

But as soon as he and his wife neared their son, it seemed something truly worthy of a legend had taken place. The Lethifold didn't harm his son, and apart from a coldness seeping in on his son's right arm, he was unmarred and untouched.

The werewolf didn't manage to hurt his son, and the Lethifold protected him from his assured death.

When he heard the news of his son waking up, he flooed to the Hospital with haste, with him hot on the tails of his sprinting wife, who used her alluring grace and speed, from her years as a Hitwizard, to race the busy halls of the hospital to see her son.

He was sure, his wife would have stayed by his son's side for the entire night, but seeing her ragged looks, the healer who took charge of his son, who was also a classmate and a dear friend of his wife, had forced her to go home and rest.

They both had sleepless nights, even after hearing that their son wasn't scratched by the werewolf, and he only had a lingering frost bite on his right arm, where the Lethifold wrapped around him.

It seemed his son knew the danger of the two creatures, and their XXXXX status, and fainted in shock.

His attention was drawn to the present by an indignant squeak from his son, when he was fiercely embraced in his mother's arms. He seemed to ask wordlessly for his help, but he knew how fierce his wife was, with anything related to his son.

She is an Italian by descent, the blood of Venetian Nobles and royal heritage flows through her veins. Just as the Blood of the Old English Kings runs through his. And this amalgamation of noble bloodlines had made their son supernaturally gifted.

He was a gorgeous boy, by birth. He was intelligent and smart from the word go. But as he aged, his beauty and charm seemed to embolden his wife's beliefs, that their son had gotten the very best genes they had to offer.

He wanted to have two children, one to inherit his family, and the other to inherit hers. But they had decided to not have any more children, when their son had shown his abnormal magical potential at age three, when he threw a boulder, ten metres wide around its centre, into the woods, when a small Ashwinder snake was stuck under the soil and couldn't slither its way out.

Their son was unnaturally kind to all animals, and the Bicorns they bred in the backyard as a hobby, seem to take a liking to his boy.

Bicorns were known to be territorial towards other creatures and downright aggressive with wizards. They were barely kept calm with the groundskeeper, who had raised this herd from their birth. But the Bicorns would be extremely submissive to his son, and allow him to ride them.

One day, he returned with his wife on a dinner date, and found his son squealing in delightful glee, as a Bicorn raced across the field, with his son held firmly in the horns.

It was a sight of fright, and if not for the groundskeeper watching like a hawk, biting his nails, he would have killed the Bicorn for trying to kill his son.

After the Boulder incident, they had also started rearing Ashwinders, a den of them found under the hole which the Boulder blocked, and he soon learnt something new. Ashwinders were also quite friendly and cordial to his son! They acted like sentient beings, instead of beasts and creatures, and he had decided to investigate this phenomenon thoroughly.

He was working as an Unspeakable, in the Department of Mysteries, and this allowed him to investigate, if Magical Creatures gained sentience due to some external factors.

But as his thoughts drifted away, he followed wordlessly as they reached home. He had to find if there was any correlation to the Lethifold's actions, and the mystery surrounding his unnaturally gifted son.
