Housewarming Party

The three friends were chatting about nothing in particular. reminiscing in their childhood, Claire was Alysa's childhood friend; they went to same primary and middle school. Because of her father's transfer, Claire left city S to Shentria city. Even when Claire moved to different city, her relationship with Alysa did not change much. Both the friends managed to protect their friendship. Though there were days and months they couldn't communicate with each other.

So naturally, Alysa visited Shentria few times to meet Claire. As for Ashley, she had visited only once.

Alysa met Ashley in university at the first day orientation. Even though they were in different department. Alysa made sure to make Ashley her friend. Ashley was really grateful for the fact that Alysa was there in her uni days.

As for Ashley and Claire. the lateral liked Ashley even before meeting her personally. On the day of their first semester exam at uni. Claire called Alysa to wish her luck when she accidentally heard Ashley's voice in the background. From that exact moment, Claire is hell bent on making Ashley speak in her podcasts. Poor girl is still trying to convince Ashley. The first time they both met was when Claire came to S city to visit Alysa.

As for moving together, it was a long story.

"Isn't it funny, we fulfilled our childhood wish of living together."Claire exclaimed. Alysa slightly smiled "who would have thought the things we say in the spur of a moment would come true."

"So, you both planned this in childhood?" Ashley asked as she took a sip from her beer can.

Claire said "it was not a plan. one day i was crying because of my annoying brother and didn't wanted to go home. Alysa comforted me saying that we will live together once we become big and asked me to tolerate my brother until then."

The three laughed .

"who knew saying that would make me live with you now." Alysa said with exaggerated sigh. "hey, what do you mean by that. shouldn't you be responsible for your words? moreover, you should be happy that i agreed to live with you ditching my boyfriend. I should be the one sighing." Claire said glaring at Alysa while the other two laughed seeing how Claire gets easily worked up.

"Okay okay ... calm down darling. i will take responsibility for you." Alysa said as she blew a kiss to Claire.

"You flirt, stop flirting with your friend." Ashley threw a pillow at Alysa.

"But why did you suddenly get transferred? That to, right after getting promoted!" Ashley suddenly brought the reason which prompted to their re-location to another city.

Alysa also wondered the same thing when she first heard about her transfer to Shentria city. It was just a month ago she got promoted as team lead. Getting transferred right after the promotion felt very absurd. "Even I had the same doubts. but the manager said that the one who should be transferred took maternal leave. And next capable candidate was me! nevertheless, they also increased my paycheck, so who cares anyway." Alysa shrugged even though the dots didn't add up, she was not the one to let a trivial thing get to her head.

" Who cares about the reason since we are together now" Claire said happily.

" What about you? your boss did not question anything and simply approved your transfer request." Claire asked as she found this strange than Alysa's situation.

" yes, since I have mostly been on hybrid system. Also we recently started a branch here. he wanted more people. So he easily agreed. Just that, once in awhile i have to visit the s city branch to report."

" Are you sure he agreed because of his business in the city and not because he had something for you?" Claire asked wiggling her brows.

Ashley rolled her eyes," if he had a thing for me, why would he transfer me to another city when he can make me stay within his eye-sight." Ashley said as she flicked Claire's forehead.

"hey, who knows. he may also come to you." Claire defended herself as she rubbed her forehead.

"Actually, I thought you won't be interested in coming here. speak more about asking your mother for permission." Alysa suddenly brought up the topic which was bugging her for a long time. To be fair, even Ashley didn't think she will come here, when Alysa called to inform about her transfer and asked her if she was interested to move in with them. She just said yes surprising herself and Alysa.

" I just wanted a change. City S was getting boring for me." Ashley went with one of the easy reason.

"Then, how about your boyfriend? how did he react when you said you are gonna live with us and not him?" Ashley changed the topic bringing Claire into spot light.

Alysa didn't miss the subtle change in her friend's expression and seeing how Ashley wanted to change the topic, she didn't want to probe any further. Even though, they both were in the same city. After graduation, they went on their lives. applying for jobs and getting busy, so it was only once in a while they would catch up. It was difficult to know everything going on in each other lives until and unless the other wanted to discuss.

" Well, it's not like we are staying countries apart. He just agreed when i said it's my childhood dream." Claire said proudly for having an understanding boyfriend.

They chatted a little while before going to bed. since Tomorrow will be their first day in company. They went to sleep early.
