Chapter 42 Zeroed in on her

Tang Ning suddenly remembered the days of their prom party in high school. She had been excited about attending prom with Feng Shufen but it all ended in vain when she messed up things between them.

But it is okay now, she thought. She moved on and right now, her heart was beating for some one else. Speaking of him, she wondered if Jing Yue was going to come. Deep inside her heart, she wished for him to come so that he could see how good she looked.

She walked away from the mirror, satisfied with how she looked and she left the room.

Walking to the back of the house where the party was, people were already seated and her eyes searched for Jing Yue but she failed to see him. Disappointed, she placed her gift amongst the heap at the table and she got a seat at the back, as she watched the kids who were running around the whole place. Later when she got bored, she got her phone and started texting with Daiyu. Brief speeches followed and soon, the food was served.

As she sat down with her food, Yin Chen came to join her. "I noticed you were lonely," she said. "Honestly yes," she replied. "Let me hope the job is not difficult for you," said Yin Chen. "Not at all I love it." "That's true. The twins are lovely and Jing Yue is not a bad person," said Yin Chen and she nodded. "DidI tell you that you looked beautiful?" she suddenly asked. "I guess so. Thank you," she replied and they continued with their food.

After some time, Tang Ning asked," Are you related to Ms Jin Fei?" "Not really. I was the young master's nanny since he was a little baby and I watched him grow up," she said proudly. "Mr Jin Liwei?" she asked and she nodded. Before they could talk more, Yin Chen said," Oh! Jing Yue is here."

Tang Ning immediately turned to look in the direction and she caught sight of him approaching with a big gift bag. She realized that he had just gotten a new hair cut and she couldn't deny that he looked so handsome. As she was still looking at him, she caught sight of the four kids who had run to him. She then tore her gaze away from him and she looked back at the food.

After the food, she checked to see him speaking to Mr Jin Liwei.

As the two were still discussing about business, Jin Liwei suddenly said,"You didn't tell me what happened next. Did you finally tell her?" asked Jin Liwei as the two men had decided to step aside. "Yes I did," Jing Yue replied casually, as his eyes were taking in the guests at the party.

"And?" he probed further. "We didn't get to have a complete conversation because we got interrupted," he replied.

As his eyes continued to wander around, they landed on the girl in a pink dress. His eyes zeroed in on her. He looked at her slender neck and smooth shoulders and he couldn't help but swallow hard.

Even though he was seeing her face from the side, he could tell that she looked so beautiful.

Jin Liwei who saw his friend's eyes glued somewhere followed his line of sight to see what he was looking at. "Who is it?" he asked. Looking at him, Jing Yue asked," Who?"

"The one you're looking at," he said. "No one. I was looking at Yin Chen and I realized that I hadn't greeted her yet," he said and both men looked over again.

At the same time, Tang Ning turned to look in the direction and she found the two men staring at her. She looked away immediately and cursed under her breath, feeling uncomfortable in her seat. Were they discussing about her?

A while later, she looked back in an attempt to check whether they were still looking at her. She saw them talking again, where it was only Jing Yue who was looking at her. Their eyes met and no one broke their gaze, until Jin Fei walked to where the men were.

"You finally came," she told Jing Yue. Jin Liwei wrapped his hand around his wife's waist and he pulled her closer to him. "Yes. Although I was a bit late, I made it," he replied. "Well, better late than never," she said and he nodded.

A while later, Li Fei glanced in the direction where Yin Chen was and when she saw Tang Ning, she said," Jing Yue, your nanny is beautiful. Did you know that?" "Who?" he asked. "The twins' nanny I meant, and she's such a darling. I would have taken her as a model for my fashion brand but the poor thing is shy," she said looking in the direction where both men looked yet at the same time, Tang Ning turned to see the three of them staring at her. She wondered what the three were talking about because it was obvious that it was about her.

A long while later when the party was almost coming to an end, Tang Ning was again abandoned as she sat staring around. Feeling someone's gaze on her, she looked around and saw Jing Yue speaking to some elders although his eyes constantly turned to look at her. As she was still looking at him, a certain man walked to where she was and touched the chair besides her then asked," Is this seat occupied?" She shook her head and said," I don't think so." "Alright," he said and he took a seat next to her. Getting her phone, she heard him say," You look so beautiful."

"Thank you," she replied as she switched her attention to her phone. "Uh, may I know your name?" he asked. Not wanting to be rude to him as he might be a relative, she said," Tang Ning."

"Such a beautiful name, just like the owner," he complimented and she decided not to talk to him again.

As Jing Yue was speaking to Jin Liwei's parents, his eyes were fixated on the spot where Tang Ning was in company of another man. He could see how he lustfully looked at her bare skin. Her neck and shoulders. His jaws clenched when he realized the words he was saying to her. Although he couldn't hear him, he could read the movement of the man's lips.
