It was late in the evening after we returned from a small stroll around his estate.

It was wonderful, covered by a wide silent sky and greenery that outlasted its beauty. It was peaceful.

"You don't mind sharing the room or shall I arrange your stuff in another room?" He inquired the moment I stepped out of the bathroom, I looked at my reflection in the mirror and my face was flushed with exhaustion. It was quite obvious the road trip didn't work out for me well, my period appeared announced was the cherry on top.

"I don't mind sharing the room." I shrugged.

"Do you feel any better?" He asked again, once I had dumped myself on the bed. I was suddenly hit by a minor fever, and I refused to go back when he suggested it. Now I regret my decision because I haven't been able to enjoy anything because of these ridiculous cramps.

"A little." I sighed groaning into my hands, covering my face.

I felt the bed dip, He sat down beside me, his calloused fingers brushing my sides, the curve of my waist, caressing the firmness of my skin under the shorts I wore.

"I've spoiled our day haven't I?" I sulk, sitting up on the bed with weary eyes and a heavy head. Before he could respond his phone rang, he avoided looking at it as he gave me attention.

"No, you haven't." He whispered, softly brushing my hair. His phone rang again, and he clenched his jaw picking it up. His eyes burned holes in the screen, as his grip on the poor phone tightened. Shaking his head he looked back at me, I forced a smile.

"Thank you, Aaren for being understanding all the time." My low whisper made his lips twitch as he gave a slight nod.

"I have to be understanding towards my girl." He responds, and I find myself melting into his striking eyes. They were a mixture of earth and ocean, luring you into their charm.

"That you do." I smiled and he moved closer, his hands reaching up to roam across my arms.

"How innocent, how flawless." He mutters huskily leaning down to smooch my skin, as the familiar goosebumps erupted on my skin.

"This flawless skin of yours would be covered in bruises of my desire, once you're mine." He glanced up at me through his lashes. They held a tempting promise, one I couldn't resist.

It was when the phone rang again he stood up abruptly.

"Damn it what?" He growled into the phone. He listened carefully to whatever was being said on the other side, his jaw still clenched.

"I'm coming." He hissed under his breath, forcibly muttering uninterested replies to the person who called.

He sighed deeply once he ended the call and stared at me longingly, lost in his indecipherable thoughts. That look made me uncertain.

"Erm, was it a work call?" I asked deliberately and he nodded biting his lip.

"I'll guess we'll have to cancel this weekend, you're sick too." Saying he pointed out and I sighed silently agreeing. Turns out it was a business emergency he had to attend to. But I won't say I was satisfied with having him gone. His work was demanding, and some parts of me didn't seem content.

"We'll make it better next time, love." He sat across from me, running a hand down my jaw to my neck sensually. His mere touch left a burning sensation on my skin and throbbing in my lower regions. I had to remind myself to not clench my legs.

He stared into my eyes, his gaze dangerously heated as he sucked in a breath.

"You are beautiful Avery, God damn beautiful." He groaned before crashing his lips to mine, his hands cradling my neck just enough harshly for me to not get comfortable.

I didn't realise when I ended up straddling him, but the intimacy was corrupting my boundaries. I can't say how long I can hold myself with this hunk.

Two hours later, I was in front of my home and he was gone since we took different cars, him to the airport and I with my father's security guards. I slept through the whole ride back home which explained I felt a little better.

"Ally?" Gloria who was passing by the hallway to the stairs stopped midway through scanning my posture.

"I thought you were on a weekend getaway with your boyfriend." She frowned and I sighed not wanting her to taunt me about how it was all spoiled now.

"He's not my boyfriend," I answer by pushing past her.

"Wait what happened?" She was genuinely concerned and I narrowed my eyes at her. She looked like she was crying, her eyes were red her face was puffy.

"I can ask you the same," I mumbled suspiciously. She hung her head fidgeting with her fingers.

"I'll tell you later." She declared hurriedly leaving my sight. I stared at her retreating back shocked at her weird behaviour.

Rolling my eyes I ambled back to my bedroom, thankful about the fact that everyone else was asleep. And the twins are at their apartment, God those guys stay up all night long, I wonder how they don't get weak.

The next morning I didn't have it in me to get up from my bed, and it was better since I didn't have to answer all the questions. Something felt down, and I was gloomy about it.

I picked up my phone, and there were texts from Tahi, Amelia and Aaren. His one said.

I think of you first thing in the morning.

I blushed red recalling our intense make-out last night. I typed, then sighed by deleting it. He might be busy, and my text will only demand time, which he barely has.

The knock on my door grabbed my attention and I murmured to come in.

"Mom?" I was surprised to see her home this late. She's usually at her office at this hour. She cleared her throat and smiled sitting across from me.

"How do you feel now, Aaren informed me you were sick." She asks to check out my fever, I blinked at her wondering how the sun rose from the West today.

She entwined our hands staring at it intensely before sighing deeply and smiling honestly.

"It's gone mum, I feel better now." I squeezed her hand. She smiled pressing a kiss to my temple, I never realised how much I needed her attention and love unless of course I am blessed once a year with it.

"So what do you think about him?" she asks making my heart flutter at his mention.

"Uh, he's a nice guy." I smiled and she chuckled shaking her head.

"All first make you blush like that. But not always the firsts are last." She mumbles making me frown.

"I don't understand." I trailed off eyeing her.

"It's nothing sweetheart, forget it. So I was thinking about something." Brushing off the previous issue, she asserts. I wasn't going to pry and spoil her good display of affection.

"Yeah?" I raised a brow at her.

"If you like him, why wait? Let's get you guys engaged." She proposed and I gape at her dumbfounded.

"This soon?" I screeched at her. My throat was dry and it made me cough.

"Yeah, why?" She grimaced and I sighed not in the mood to have a round of argument with anyone.

"Because mum I want to get to know him more." I reasoned.

"That can happen while you're engaged too." She says. I laughed when I saw her pouting.

"I mean, it can." I shrugged. I didn't have an issue with getting engaged but still, it's a big step right?

"Then what's the trouble, think about it. I'll send you soup you'll feel better." She laughs patting my hand as she stands up from my bed. I smiled at her and she strode out of the door.

My phone dinged, and I peeked at it to get startled for the second time today. Why are people being weird all of a sudden?

My cousin, who most definitely doesn't care about my existence was calling me. I frowned by ignoring it but it rang again. Frustratingly, I pressed the mute switch not wanting to hear whatever she had to say. She's probably interested in the latest rumours about my yet none existent wedding.

Yep, There could not be any more reason. Just when I thought she had stopped calling. She dropped a text.

I need to talk to you about something extremely important, Avery.

I banged my head on the headboard feeling it hammer with a merciless throb once again. I don't want to deal with any stupid shit right now.
