9_Quite Cute
Li Yao was having a gathering at a restaurant near the famous high-end club, Vola. She was just taking a walk to digest the food she took just now.
It was Assistant Attorney Ye's birthday and she had invited everyone from the second division office to come celebrate her birthday at the restaurant. She was very well-liked in the office and everyone had a merry chat over dinner.
Li Yao excused herself to take a short walk outside as the surrounding had become stuffy for her to handle. She was always not good with people, that was why she avoided them at all cost.
But becoming a lawyer made her realize that she needed to change. Lawyers were socially adaptable people who dealt with many clients on a daily basis. And over the past months, she could see that she was gradually becoming better at socializing. That was why she decided to join the gathering to further socialize with her co-workers. As a shining star of the second division, Li Yao of course, had many admirers. But it was a double edge sword, she also had people envious of her luck and hard work. Like those two bitches who pestered her in the office before.
But she never cared about that as they were many people who saw her diligence and came to acknowledge her in their own accord.
As Li Yao was walking along the street, she saw a man with his back on the luxurious car that she only saw in television. She came to recognize him as the same man she saw by the roadside. The fallen angel guy!
And why was he always standing near the road everytime she saw him?
And the way he dressed obviously could tell people that he really couldn't stand the cold. He was wearing two thick blue pullovers over a white sweater with his hands scraping against each other to provide artificial warmth.
Somehow.. he looked very innocent.
As her vision was stuck on the man, she saw him staggering to the middle of the road. What?!
Where was he going?
"Hey, watch out!" Li Yao ran to his side as she saw that a car nearly hit the man.
She held out her hand and pulled him to the side in one swift motion.
'That was dangerous!' she screamed inwardly.
"Are you alright?" she asked him. But he remained silent.
Mu Lihai was standing there, just staring at the woman's delicate and beautiful face. He couldn't believe his eyes, this woman seemed fragile yet her grip was strong. He kept his eyes on her for a long time.
"God.. It's dangerous, the car almost got you!" a man ran to his side as he muttered curses under his breath.
"Thank you for pulling him to the side. I never thought that he couldn't stay in place when drunk. I'm so sorry about it, miss." Zhu Kang faced the woman before him as he thanked her.
Mu Lihai's intense gaze broke when he heard Zhu Kang's words.
"It's not that I can't stay put. I just don't want to be near the car.." Mu Lihai muttered in a low voice that nobody could hear if they weren't paying attention.
"Gosh.. I think that I need to always stay vigilant and just be your subordinate at all times! Now young master, let's go!" Zhu Kang dragged the tipsy Mu Lihai to the car and closed the door.
When they went away, Li Yao also broke from her reverie and she could feel her cheeks reddened instantly.
What was that?
He stared at her as if he wanted to devour her whole. He looked at her as if he was looking for something in her eyes. That intense gaze was so electrifying that Li Yao couldn't help but stand there in silence even though the other man was apologizing to her.
'Who is he..?' she found herself getting curious towards a stranger for the first time in six years.
'And why didn't he want to stay near the car..?' she recalled back his words when he was mumbling by himself.
Remembering his slightly flushed face due to alcohol, Li Yao had a strange thought that the man was actually quite cute.
"Huh?" what was she thinking?
Was she crazy?!
Oh goodness! Li Yao actually thought that a stanger was cute! A stanger! A man! Cute!
She wanted to facepalm herself so bad.

The next day, Li Yao was getting ready with her reports as she was going to meet her first client in the cafe nearby.
"You look prepared." a man's voice was heard from behind her.
Li Yao turned around to see Head Attorney Wang standing just behind her swivel chair.
"Head Attorney Wang, what can I help you with?" she tried to sound professional but he could hear her almost stuttering voice because of the surprise. He did suddenly appear from behind her after all.
"Come in my office after you finish your meeting. We have something to discuss." he smiled at her to which she nodded softly.
'What's the occasion?' she thought to herself.
