The month following Mallory's declaration was one of absolute delight. The days came and went without a single mishap. The pair of Mallory and Stella had quickly become close as they kept taking small steps in getting to know each other.
On the other hand Valerie had quickly came to regret her words on that day as Mallory had not yet dropped the topic. Despite the various excuses sent Mallory's way it was very clearly that she had no intention of dropping the topic.
Not even the pleads to Stella aided Valerie. Actually her pleas made the ordeal even worse as Stella was now also very invested in her private life. Mallory had been serving as a pseudo maternal figure to her but now had evolved into having a pair of overprotective mothers who wouldn't let her do anything without bubble wrapping her whole path while also covering her in protective gear.
Despite Valerie's excessive complaining as well as the utter exhaustion form the situation part of her thoroughly enjoyed it. Life in her little household just became so much brighter. The early years after the fire had left them both in a dark place.
With time those dark years got slowly brighter thanks to Mallory as she fought her way trough the dark clouds all the while dragging Valerie by the hand. There was no exact moment or memory attached to it but at some point Mallory became Valerie's beacon after their parent's passing.
Despite the joy Mallory brought to Valerie it wasn't always symbiotic. Mallory as a child was always so bright despite her appearance but after their parent's death Valerie had thought Mallory had lost her personal light for good.
The warm smiles Valerie gave were hollow and only gave warmth to Valerie but it was all she needed back then. To Valerie Mallory was her sun but deep down that sun was dim and down. However that inner spark as grown by leaps and bounds by a rather unique catalyst, Stella.
From a distance the ragged and worn figure of the tomboyish Mallory contrasted the porcelain doll like features of the designer Stella in a way that seemed comical. However the smiles and shared giggles of the pair radiated warmth that was divine in nature or at least that what Valerie thought and if anyone would deny that to her face they would from then on be referred to as insane.
Sorry for the shortr chapter as well as the missed chapter yesterday. Recently it been harder to figure out ways to organically progress the story. This is a first for me but I think with time the story will evolve and progress in a satisfying way.
The next chapter will be a bit different though as I am also hoping to incorperate a little bit more of Stella and her story moving forward.
Thanks for all the support and love it means alot!
