118 Stuck Inside

Agni came into the house as if she was a wild elephant on the run from the circus. "Olivia!!! Your Master is home! Where are you, you, you, you c*nt!" She roared into the house. "Is that the type of language a lovely, young lady should be using?" A jolly voice called out from above. Agni bared her teeth and looked up towards the owner of the voice.

The murder she had in her eyes suddenly extinguished, her jaw slacked in horror and sweat started to collect on her temples as she looked at Officer Reenie's smiling face. To the left of him was a line up of men, who hung their heads low as the descended the stairs. "Officer Reenie... what do I owe the honour of you visiting my home?" Agni asked awkwardly as she started to smooth her hair down.

Officer Rennie placed an elbow on the railing and propped his head up as he lazily sipped his tea. "Madam have you forgotten our conversation yesterday at the celebration of life service for your late husband? You asked me to come and see Olivia's progress with things." A vein appears above of Agni's left eye as she tried her best to hold her angelic demeanor. "Oh... I don't recall this conversation, I do apologize."

Officer Rennie waved away the apology and looked back down at Agni's forced smile. "My dear it seemed you were rather intoxicated. I tried to talk you out of me visiting but you grabbed my arm and insisted that I look at Olivia for who she was. You wouldn't take no for an answer and then I remembered that you are pregnant! So I took your drink away and made you promise to see a doctor in the morning if I agreed to your request." Agni's smile dropped and she moved her gaze toward Olivia.

"So what did the doctor say? Is your child okay?" He asked innocently. Agni gave Olivia one icy cold glare causing her to involuntarily shiver before she fixed her gaze and looked at Officer Reenie properly. "No harm has fallen the child." She answered flatly then turned her gaze back to Olivia.

"Olivia did Officer Reenie see you in an unrefined manner?" Agni asked sweetly but the underlying contempt could still be heard. Olivia shook her head. "I'm sorry mother, I was in my cleaning clothes when he came knocking on the door." Agni was ready to explode but she swallowed back her words and started to smile instead. "That's ok dear, I know how committed you are in maintaining the house. How can anyone get upset over something like that?"

"That's right no one can get upset over some cleaning clothes... Anyways these fine gentlemen have installed the cameras upstairs, I will be following them downstairs to make sure everything has been installed properly." Officer Reenie said as he started to move towards the stairs. "Oh I wouldn't want to trouble you." Agni started to protest but Officer Reenie wasn't going to let her have her way.

"It's no problem! I will trust that you have spoken with Chief Wilhelm and will even allow us to watch the surveillance feed." He said nonchalantly. Agni paled as Officer Reenie descended the stairs.

"Why would..." Agni started to say but Officer Reenie had already reached the landing. He happily went up to Agni and place a firm hand onto her shoulder.

"You my dear have gone above and beyond to prove your daughter Innocence! What a great way to show the people and the court that she is not the person she is painted to be by the media and nasty rumours! I mean... she is... cough... still under house arrest for the possible murder of your late husband and she has that ugly law suit pending because of those men but you! Being the wonderful mother that you are, proving your conviction by setting this all up, it just... sob... moving! Honestly it brings a tear to my eye."

Angi was dumbfounded, she had no words to say as she stood there with her jaw slacked. Officer Rennie pulled out his handkerchief and blotted his tear away. "Well enough of that!" He shouted as he slapped Agni's back. "I need to get back to supervising those fine fellows, so I will give you ladies time to talk." He said as he started to walk away.

Agni gritted her teeth, she couldn't believe that Officer Reenie's timing was coincidental. She turned her menacing gaze towards Olivia, who was still standing at the top floor, looking down on her. "Get down here." She hissed. Olivia internally groaned as she moved away from the railing and towards the stairs. Each step feeling heavier then the last until she made it to the bottom of the steps.

She gave her a sly smirk and moved forwards. She raised her hand up into the air and Olivia flinched. She closed her eyes waiting for Agni's punishment but nothing came. Instead she felt Agni's hand gently placed onto her cheek, she dared to open her eyes and saw that Agni had moved beside her ear. "Do you know how your Cheshire cat is doing?" Olivia tensed up as a pair of copper eyes and wide smile flashed in her mind.

Sweat started to collect on her forehead, it was the one person she didn't have the nerve to ask about but now she was going to find out. "Mr. Cheshire seems to have had played a little too hard for his own good and is now sleeping his life away." She said as she watched Olivia from the corner of her eye.

"Don't touch him!" Olivia hissed as she clenched her fists. Agni placed a kiss onto Olivia's cheek. "Seems like my little kitty still has a temper but you know what? I don't care anymore." Agni said as she straightened up her back. She faced Olivia head on and crossed her arms. "I may have surveillance cameras going up but there is no audio and honestly there are more pressing matters that I need to attend to." She said nonchalantly before she started to walk away.

Olivia stood her ground and tried to drill a hole in the back of Agni's head with her glare. "I thought torturing me was the highlight of your day." Agni stopped in her tracks and turned to face her. She gave her a gentle smile. "I'm sorry sweetie but mommy has no time to play with you.... Now I will going into my study, oops I'm sorry I mean my late husband's study. Please call me when dinner is ready."

Olivia could only clench her hands into fists as she watched Agni walk away. Once Agni was out of her sight she turned and walked into the kitchen to prepare dinner. She needed to preoccupy her mind.

....

It was peaceful, the sun was shining brightly and there was a gentle breeze in the air that carried the smell of summer. I couldn't help but stretch my arms out and crack my back.

I lazily laid my back down onto the plush grass, hoping to catch a glimpse of a fluffy cloud. No luck, the sky was clear and a great shade of blue. I roll my eyes as I sigh. Even if I saw a cloud what would I do with it? Nothing, a cloud was a cloud and I couldn't pull it from the sky to sleep on it, so it was useless.... but I had a nagging feeling that the world actually had more beauty to it.

It wasn't just a place that I could lazily idle my days away. I roll onto my stomach and shove my face into the grass. It may be peaceful but it was boring, the world never changed... well that's not true it changed against my will. For an undetermined amount of time, my world would shift to something surreal and it only happened when I heard sweet whispers, causing my heart to stir.

I longed to hear the words the voice tried to say but the voice could only use muffled sounds. If I could, I would listen to the sounds all day and sit as the scenery changed to whatever the tone of the voice took on. If it sounded sad, my world changed to a rainy, busy, city street. People would walk by as I sat in a corner, rain water would run down my face. No one wants to look or speak to me, I'm lonely and I don't like the voice feeling this way either but there were people, there was something different and I could touch someone if I wanted to.

When the voice is happy, I am sitting inside a cozy wooden house. A fire is roaring, hot chocolate is on the table, a cozy blanket is on the sofa. I look outside and see that it's a winter wonderland but my heart aches, I want to hold onto something, feel someone's warmth despite how cozy the place is but I feel too comfortable to complain.

When the voice is angry, I find myself roaming through some dark woods. I can't help but feel it's all my fault. I want out, I need to get out but I'm lost... I don't what to do, it affects my heart, my temperament and I am determined to get out. I have tried running but can never keep my footing so I fall. The angry voice doesn't stay long and soon it turns sad. Even though my heart is tormented daily, I miss the voice when it's not talking.

Silence brings the summer, silence brings peace, silence is.... unsettling. There is also one more thing that happens and I'm not sure what causes it but it's a strange phenomenon.

Though there is no voice, there are times that my blue sky turns dark. My hand feels hot, sometimes my chest, there was even a time it was my cheek and I'm standing before a lake. Fireworks are shooting upwards and light up the sky. I love the scenery, I love the feeling, my heart doesn't ache and I am truly happy.

I could live forever watching the night sky but it's a fleeting moment. Then I feel worse off. Lately it has only been summer and I'm sick of it. I'm sick of not hear the voice, I want to meet the person who talks to me, I want to hear their words clearly and not muffled sounds anymore. I can't take it anymore and let my rage take over.

I sit up and start pounding the grass. My fists are hurting and I don't care, sweat is starting roll down my face as I grit my teeth. This is not enough! I stand up and look around, I bring my hand up to my hair and start to make it messy. I feel it fall forward and cover my face. A primal urge takes over as my blood boils. I look around savagely, nothing is around just an endless sea of green.

F*ck it! I start running, I pump my arms as I just run. I can't stop, I won't stop! I don't know how long I ran for but I noticed I was nearing something. I start to pick up the pace, my lungs are starting to hurt, my heart is feeling odd. There are odd voices starting to whisper into my ear. I swipe the sound away. I don't care! I don't care! I don't care!

I am reaching the edge! It's finally a different colour! A white brick wall! I need to reach it but suddenly my body feels like it's pulsing. It hurts too much but I want to move on! It pulses even more so I grab my chest. I clench at the white shirt I'm wearing and pull. I want to dig out my heart but my body pulses again. It feels like I'm on fire. Help!

"Edmond!"

Huh? everything calms down. The heat is gone, my heart is calm, and I blink, unsure of what happened. "Edmond!" I heard it again, I feel a warmth from the bottom of my heart and my body becomes light. I stand up. I heard the voice, a female voice, I become hysterical! I can feel the greed from my bones, I want to see you!

I look around, a sea of grass behind me, a white wall infront. The choice is obvious, I need to escape this hell hole and see you! I ran to the wall, my steps are light and fast. I reached it in no time flat.

I grin as I look at the wall. "Edmond?" That's it, my conviction is set! I raise my arms, clench my hands and one swift movement I bring down all the strength I have and hit the wall with my two fists. It shattered like glass the wall came raining down.

The pieces seemed to infect my world as everything starts to turn black. The sky is dark, the grass is black, the breeze is gone and trees started to sprout behind me. I look around and notice that the forest looks like the one I would wonder around, I look up and see a full moon, soft music is being played but hell I know what type of music it is. A lake was starting to form in front of me and I take a few steps back.

As I do the trees roots lift up and try to trap me. I jump forward causing the one root to just miss me. I decided to walk towards the music, I didn't want to be caught by the trees and end up in the forest but the lake didn't look that inviting either.

As I walk to closer the music gets louder. Is it a guitar? Again I shrug, who the f*ck cares as long as the player can tell me how to get out I will be a happy duck. I see little lights first and feel excited, not sure why but I start to run.

The lights are bugs... fine but there is a strange lady sitting on the ground playing what looks like an upside down, large ping pong paddle... no maybe... what yes a teardrop! Made of wood! I'm a genius! An extra, extra, extra... extra large wooden teardrop with a skin a** long stick attached to it and a baby stick that went across it at the top to make the letter 't'.

I took another step closer, Ha! I was right! Guitar strings, so guitar strings means it's a wooden teardrop guitar. The lady playing it seems to be ignoring me... rude. I step a little closer and brought my face in front of hers. "Nice guitar." I say and it causes her to miss a note.

Her concentration is gone, she opens her eyes and I couldn't help but fall backwards. Her eyes were dark but carried the galaxy within them. Her blood red lips parted slightly as she sneered. Her delicate eyebrows knitted together and I could see a vein starting to pulse right under her left eye.

"Unbelievable." Was all she said and I could feel myself changing.
