Divorce (2)

Ch-45

"Divorce that bad omen," Mahalakshmi said.

Saranya dropped the glass in her hand when she heard her mother's words. She never expected her mother would say something like this. Harish Chandra's head whipped to his wife's side when he heard. He was beyond shocked. He looked at Rahul to see his reaction. He could see that his son was still in his position.

Rahul never expected his mother would go to this extent. She tortured laya to this extent and now… she wasn't satisfied with it. Now… she won't ruin her life. Telugu states that too in India, a divorced woman was seen as a sinner in society. Does she consider her life after divorce?

Rahul was so shocked that he stilled in his position for a few minutes. Raising his head, he looked at his mother. He wanted to search for his loving mother in her face. He wondered where she went but he didn't find her.

"Mom, are you sure?" he asked.

"Yes, I am sure. Divorce her," she said.

"Why do you want me to divorce her?" he asked.

"I don't like her!" she said. Maha Lakshmi was annoyed with Laya. She wanted to point at every point of work she did. But she was doing her work flawlessly. And her husband, her son, and her daughter were on Laya's side. Everyone was blaming her. What did she do to her? She just let her taste the medicine once she tasted it. And it's her fault for not getting pregnant in a month. How dare she disobey her orders? She deserves that. She wasn't regretful of her actions, instead, she was sure that Laya was at fault.

"Mom, are you getting it? If she is divorced then her life would be ruined," he said.

"I don't care," Maha Lakshmi replied.

Rahul sighed. He can't go against her right now. If he does, she would hurt Laya further. Holding his head, he sighed. Harish Chandra and Saranya were curious about Rahul's decision. They wanted him to say no to Maha Lakshmi.

"I will think of it, mom. You go and rest," he said.

Saranya and Harish Chandra were shocked at his decision. Saranya got up from her seat to leave.

Suddenly, a vase fell down and rolled from the steps. Everyone turned their head towards the direction. Rahul was worried that it was Laya but to his luck, it was a cat. They all heaved a sigh of relief knowing that it wasn't Laya.

"Why are there cats roaming in the house?" Rahul asked, feeling a bad sign.

"That bad omen is raising these stray cats," Maha Lakshmi said with a disgusted expression.

"I tried to chase them away. But they aren't going. Just like that bad omen even these cats are a bad omen," she said as she clicked her tongue. Rahul nodded saying nothing.

Saranya just stormed out of the dining hall. Harish Chandra washed his hand even without finishing his food.

Rahul knew he became a villain in the eyes of his father and sister. But to give freedom to Laya he needs to be one.

Maha Lakshmi left the dining hall proudly. She went upstairs. She wanted to boast to Laya that her son agreed to divorce Laya. But she knew… Laya already knew it. When everyone was watching the cat jumping away… she saw Laya's frill which disappeared in an instant. She smirked in her mind.

Making her way upstairs, she directly entered Rahul's room.

Rahul felt too frustrated and this house was too suffocating for him. Getting up from his seat, he walked to the back garden. The chilling breeze, the silent environment made him feel refreshed. He felt relaxed not knowing the storms that were swirling in his house.
