Hel and the Emerald Sky City

this is a fantasy soulmates romance set in an Urban setting with lots of deeply traumatic backstories and many deaths on the way, in a magical ancient academy, and with one of the main plots being revenge. there are countless types of mythical creatures and all coexisting in our very world. ||| two new chapters per day at 10:30 and 22:30! ||| Torture is all I’ve known for two thousand years. Not because I’m the one causing it, which ain’t the case, but because since the old reptile, Dragon Queen Meredith Bloom and her daughter in law, Crowned Princess Philippa Bloom kidnapped me from my mother when I was 7 years old, and killed her in front of me, I’ve been treated like a material she absolutely despised but wanted to make a weapon with. All because I’m the bastard daughter of the Crowned Prince Russell Frederick Bloom, the “holy-golden-dragon” with my mom, a black dragon extremely powerful who worked directly with the Dragon Queen and King as the Royal blacksmith and stylist. Which baffles me even more is that mother and Russell were mates, but as dear grandma there didn’t want a black dragon to mate with her precious golden son, she terrorized my mom when she learned of their affair and made sure her son married a female golden dragon of high birth right away. That’s where Philippa Pepper Wreathers-Bloom comes into the picture. She got engaged to my birth father before mother could even have me, and as soon as she had me on the territory now known as New Zealand, she ran away to her family’s original territory on the Himalaya Mountain Range. Which is where she made her lair and raised me for 7 years, in physical age. That is, until dear grandma came and ended our short-lived happiness. Aye, key detail. Mom and dad were both dragons, of different founding clans but both dragons, nevertheless, I came out weird and I’m not a dragon at all, I’m something else entirely, though still in the reptile family. Which is another reason why Meredith tortured the shite out of me. If there was something she despises more than having a bastard in her perfect Royal bloodline, is having a bastard who’s an error in the system (not my choice of words, hers), something that’s only been heard in legends of the long gone old world. What are you then, Hel? I’m a serpent. But not just a serpent, I’m a gigantic black serpent with emerald scales here and there (which Meredith is to blame for), long and wide bat-like wings, with sapphire eyes, and silver sharp fangs full of a very lethal poison.

XXIV ||| Legend This, Legend That

But they all stayed silent, which was very surprising.

"I'll put a song while you kids decide if you're up to it or if you're only brave when you your little leader with you," then to provoke them even more, I opened Spotify on the playlist Cosmos made for me and put Monster by Irene and Seulgi from Red Velvet to play. "Isn't this the perfect song that sums up how you see me?" I played with them.

"How old are you?" The blonde girl asked, taking a step closer.

["She's the lion shifter!"] I know.

"Older than you," I tilted my head to the side, summoning one of my twin daggers in my right hand. "So, what's going to be, little lion?"

"How do you know what I am?" She glared at me.

I pointed to Jack, "Jack tells me everyone's races," and he nodded. "Who's the oldest kid in Belladonna?"

"My brother!" River hissed, and I glared at him. "He's 975 years old," hah. Fucking fate, how I hate fate.

"Then it's definitely me, because I'm older than that," I winked. "Ah, Lix, you like bows and arrows, right?" If they are going to waste my time, I'm going to ignore them.

Felix who was holding on my shirt, nodded, "You saw my lair."

"I did, indeed," turning slightly to him, I touched the upper left side of my ribs and summoned the emerald bow with twelve arrows that was tattooed right on that spot. "Now you have a fan and a bow with arrows. Unique edition," I winked charmingly.

All of them gasped, "Hel… you don't… you don't need to…"

I rolled my eyes, "I can't deal with emerald, Lix. Take it. I'm more into obsidian, ruby, and diamond."

"That… that's a Shay Miralanthor weapon!" Yumi gasped.

Slowly, I turned to her, a lethal gleam on my eyes, "And?"

"How do you have it?" She sneered as if I had stolen them.

Frowning, I used my telekinesis to strangle her softly, taking her off the ground, "Are you suggesting I stole my ancestor's weapon when it was given to me as my inheritance, seraphim?"

"Yumi!" They all gasped.

"I… I'm not saying… that…" She gasped, hands on her neck.

Rolling my eyes, I let go of her and she fell on Danielle's arms. "My love," the navy blue haired girl cried and glared at me. "It's impossible to believe what you say, new girl, when you look like you're lying."

"And the Miralanthor disappeared twenty centuries ago!" This time it was Savannah who exclaimed it, covering the couple from me.

I looked at my ring than at her again, bored, "I told you I'm old!"

River scoffed bitterly, "You can't be two thousand years old!" Oh, but I am. "You wouldn't look like a 17-year-old if that was the case."

"How would you know?" Grinning I played with the dagger again. "Maybe I am that old. Maybe I only look 17 because I've been drinking the blood of two thousand virgins to stay young, while I don't find my way to go through the fountain of youth!"

He clenched his jaw, "That doesn't exist. It's a legend."

And so is my kind. "Oh, but it does. It's in Las Vegas, in the US. Funny, uh? But to get to the portal that takes you to the fountain of youth, you have to go through some extremely difficult said-to-be impossible trials and also go through the minotaur that guards the maze where those trials take place. No one made it out alive so far," the words came out of my lips automatically.

When I was done, I found myself as shocked as them.

["How did you know this?"] Jack gasped.

I blinked hard, my vision blurry. I have no idea. I must have read something about it while in the crypt, and I forgot. Weird.

["It's the second time this happens, Hel!"]

I know, Jack. But it's not my fault if I don't remember.

"How do you know that?" Both Felix and Priya asked me.

I have no idea. "I'm that knowledgeable!"

"You are full of shite," River pretty much spoke my thoughts out loud. "It is a legend."

"This is a legend. That's a legend. Legend this, legend that," scoff. "You people really have a habit of calling everything you don't know or find hard to believe a legend, uh? I'm really feed off with that. If you went after it, you would know I'm not lying," I mean, I don't think I made that up, I can feel the truth in my words.

"Are you being for real?" The attractive dark-skinned wolf shifter who dates the lion shifter asked me. "You are telling the truth?"

Taking a deep breath, I put my dagger and stared at him, "What's your name, wolf?" Let's be a bit reasonable, shall we?

He clenched his jaw, "Noah Solarin!"

"Oh, that's a pretty name. Look, wolf, no matter what distorted idea you all may have of me, I have zero reason to lie. In truth, I'm honest, so honest that it makes me sound rude. But just because you refuse to believe my words, it doesn't make a liar," in a instant, I made my daggers vanish. "You can't expect me to stay still and shut if you provoke me. That ain't going to happen, wolf."

"It's not our fault if you have anger issues and is easily provoked," the kraken girl with the tattoo on the side of the face hissed.

"Indeed, not your fault. But you will have to deal with it because I ain't going to change until I destroy the one who's to blame for me being like this," licking my bottom lip, I grinned ferociously, fangs flashing.

"Is Cosmos Duncan your father?" Dorothy, the redhead succubus asked, jaw clenching. "Are you Felix-Gabriel's cousin?"

"He technically adopted me ten years ago and raised me. So, you can say he's my foster father," I turned to Felix. "Does that makes me and you foster cousins?"

He beamed, "Can I call you cousin, then?"

"Nah, Hel sounds better." I turned to the succubus. "Have you all decided if we'll fight, or can I go? I don't enjoy wasting my time doing mundane stuff like you. So, if you want to fight, I will. If not, stop wasting my time!"

"Is time magic your special ability?" Priya asked me.

Sigh, "It's one of my special abilities. I have a bunch of them. And apparently I'm still awakening some. Quite annoying, I should say. But you can ask the two fangs with you, they had a taste of my time magic."

They both hissed at me, "You messed with us!" River exclaimed.

"No. Cotton candy baby blue hair messed with me, for the 2nd time. Then gothic red lipstick hot chick came and messed with me even further. I do not start fight, but I do not run from them, how many times will I have to repeat that?" I looked at each of them for a second, memorizing their faces. "As you clearly backed off from our possible fight, I'll be going."

"What are you?" Dimitry asked.

"You wouldn't believe it even if I told you. You would call it a lie and say it's a legend," I grinned. "So, I will not lose my time dwelling on that. When the time comes, you will know and I'll prove to you all that I'm not lost in the legends of the old world. I'm an anomaly, but one that's was born to shake this world."

"What are you trying to avenge?" Savannah pressed.

"My mom's death. Aye saying it like that make it sound kind of ambiguous, does it not? After all, it wasn't a simple death, neither was it natural or caused by a fair confrontation. She was ambushed and murdered by two strong individuals together."

River scoffed, "How do you know that? You might be lying to get us to fall for your shite."
