In the Cannes Mountains, a few startled geese flew out of the forest, bringing with them a flock of birds that didn't know what was going on. The sky suddenly turned dark.
The Cannes Mountains were famous for their strange rocks and cypresses. Today, a stranger had arrived.
A few hundred meters below the mountain stream, a heavily armoured knight was dragging a bloodied bristle-fanged horse along a narrow path.
"I've finally taken care of this thing!" Locke held his waist and panted. Behind him was a red-skinned wild boar that was nearly three meters long. On both sides of the wild boar's lower jaw, there were half-meter-long green fangs that glinted coldly.
Locke's boot stepped on the bristle-fanged's nose, but it didn't move at all. Only then was Locke sure that it was dead.
He pulled out a dagger from his boot and prepared to cut off the green fangs that represented that he had completed his mission.
Clang! The fangs weren't cut off, but there was a small dent in his dagger.
Locke hurriedly put away his dagger. This dagger had been with him for several years, and the linen cloth wrapped around it was given to him by his sister. Locke wondered if he should find a good blacksmith to reinforce the dagger when he returned to Princeton.
He swung the longsword hanging from his waist and slashed from top to bottom. The two green fangs finally fell to the ground with a dull thud.
He looked at his longsword in satisfaction and sheathed it.
This longsword was a gift from Billie. She came from a rich family, and to thank Locke for saving her, she gave him a longsword that could cut through iron like mud. Locke didn't know what material it was made of, but he could feel that it was much better than the bright yellow longsword he had before.
As for the original sword, Locke gave it to Laffey.
Almost all of the value of the bristle-fanged was concentrated in its pair of fangs. It could be used for weapons and armours used by knights, as well as materials for casters' experiments. This was also one of the proofs that Locke had completed his mission.
After throwing the pair of fangs into his spatial ring, Locke looked at the huge carcass in front of him and pondered for a while. Then, he started to peel off the bristle-fanged's fur with his longsword.
No one knew better than him how hard this wild boar's skin was. It would be a good idea to peel it off and bring it back to make a few sets of soft armor.
Apart from the pigskin, Locke also removed a few pieces of pork ribs. He wanted to bring them back to improve his meals or give them to Angie as rations. There was still a lot of space in his spatial ring, so it was enough to store them.
The spatial ring belonged to Angelina. She was so disgusted by it that she didn't want to use it anymore because it contained more than ten heads during the last mission. Anyway, she had a pearl with a bigger space, so she gave it to him.
It was a woman's ring, so he didn't wear it. He usually kept it in his pocket.
When everything was done, Locke stomped his feet. His iron boots made contact with the hard ground, producing a loud thud that echoed far away.
In this quiet mountain stream, there was nothing but him and the low-level magical beast's corpse.
With heavy steps, Locke walked towards the place where the horses were parked outside the mountain stream.
"Should I change into a new set of armour?" Locke pondered as he walked. The scales on his back had all been torn apart during the battle with the ghost. The armour he was wearing now was the heavy armour he had taken from Glace's treasury in Audis.
As a mid-rank Knecht, the heavy armour reduced his agility by a lot, but its defensive capabilities were improved by several levels.
The heavy armour played a huge role in him fighting the bristle-fanged beast for so long and killing it in the end.
"Let's talk about it when we get back." Locke shook his head. Although the heavy armour was good, it didn't match his impetus. The extra agility that Falconim gave him was offset by the heavy burden of the heavy armour.
A month later, Locke chased after a man in black by the riverside in Siegel.
"You sure have guts to commit murder so close to Amat City!" Locke wasn't worried at all as he chased after them.
Emmett City was one of the ten thousand cities in Aomar, and its lord was a Ritter. Siegel was only two days away from Emmett City, yet there were still bandits who dared to commit crimes here. Locke was rather curious about that.
The man in black ignored Locke's mockery and continued to run. However, no matter how hard he tried, the distance between them was still shrinking.
Seeing that the man in black didn't say anything, Locke lost interest in fooling around. He kicked the ground with his right leg and increased his speed by thirty percent. The man's head was his mission target this time.
Two days later, Locke brought the man's head to Emmat City's security office.
A letter that was acknowledged by Emmat City's security office was added to Locke's mission book.
With this, the mission to capture the Flowing Wind Bandit Swordsman could be considered completed.
After thanking the officer from the security office, Locke strolled around Emmat City.
Although the time limit for his mission was only a month, he still had half a month left, which was more than enough for him to rush back to Princeton.
The more missions he participated in, the more he experienced the thrill of completing them.
No wonder the senior knights rarely showed up in the academy; they were all out on missions. Locke had just found out that the missions received in the mission hall could be converted into credits based on the difficulty of the mission. Apart from a few compulsory courses, Locke could easily earn the remaining hundred or so credits for the semester through missions.
This was also the main training method for the knights in Perseverance Academy who were in their third year and above. After all, normal academy training wouldn't be of much help to them once they became a mid-rank Knecht. Only dangerous missions like these could slightly loosen their bottleneck.
After wandering around for two days and buying some souvenirs for his women, Locke set off on his journey back to the imperial capital.
The journey was still so long that he had to ride for a week to get back to the imperial capital.
The Missia Continent? Locke recalled what was recorded in the black caster's notebook. The Aomar Empire was the most powerful country on the Missia Continent, so the continent they were on should be called the Missia Continent.
The Three Western Isles? Based on what the black caster said, the Missia Continent was one of the islands?
Locke shuddered. He couldn't imagine how an entire continent could be called an island by an outsider.
Locke remembered that the black caster was from the Magus Continent. Did the Magus Continent have anything to do with wizards? From the introduction in Arcane Journal, Locke knew that wizards were the ancestors of all casters or elemental users.
