12. LOOKING FOR A JOB

At Samuel's house, While they were watching the movie he chose, she could feel his eyes on her, watching her every movement.

He has never looked at her that way before or stared at her for so long to the extent of her feeling uncomfortable and conscious of his eyes on her.

He had looked at her, the way her first love had done in her past, which she knew is too risky for both of them.

It damped her mood and also made her think of memories from the past.

She couldn't stay an extra minute when the memories came flowing into her head, at least she stayed till noon and left.

<FLASHBACK >

A boy and a girl walking along the road, holding hands, smiling, and talking.

The guy was putting on deep red trousers, a white top, mixed colors of white and red sneakers, a small diamond earring on his right ear, diamond rings on his left hand.

The girl wore a white jumpsuit, red shoes (wedge), diamond earrings, necklace, and diamond bracelets and carried a red diamond-laced bag.

Looking at them without anyone telling you, You can see they are from a wealthy home.

Even their clothes radiate wealthiness.

At the back, they were followed by security, who were driving slowly.

The couple stopped walking, the guy held the girl gently, dragging her closer to him, hands on her waist while the girl smiled, placing her left hand on his left shoulder, moved the other hand into his hair.

They kissed.

<BACK TO PRESENT>

She went from place to place, looking for vacancies for any position as long as they are paying well, she will accept it but no good result.

Tiredly, She walked to a nearby chair along the roadside to rest a bit before she will continue searching for a job.

She was tired of staying at home, with nothing to do, to help the family.

She thought of going back home to take her certificate but kicked against it, thinking no job will warrant her bringing it along.

Yvonne thought to herself, "I wished I stayed but I couldn't. All those things hurt badly... Dad, you left us alone in this world too."

A tear rolls down Yvonne's face then another and another until she began to sob uncontrollably and shake violently.

Realizing where she was, she quickly cleaned her tears.

Yvonne thought aloud, "When?... When would I get over you??"

Yvonne was still in tears, remembering her past.

When she felt someone's presence around her, she wanted to check the person but the person spoke to her before she could turn.

"Excuse me... Hello." The person said, he removed his faze cap.

Yvonne turned and looked up to meet the eyes of a male stranger, "He's cute...no...no... I mean he's handsome." She thought to herself.

He was dressed in black faded jeans, a white T-shirt, a faze cap matching it with black sneakers, you could still guess from his dressing that he's from a well-to-do family.

His hair was styled to the back cutely, leaving some scattered at the front.

He smirked at her, "Are you done?"

"Done with what if I may ask?" She asked him, looking confused.

"You may not ask princess." He smiled at her.

She laughed briefly, "Nickname already?"

He sat down beside her, smiling, "Get used to it."

He has a one-sided dimple and a shining set of bright white teeth.

He faced her with a serious expression, "What is a pretty girl as f**k as you doing here crying?"

"Don't use the F-word," She said with a glare at him.

He winks at her, "Babe... Manage it as instructed."

"I can manage the nickname but not the F-word." She scoffed.

"Well... Manage both princess."

"No no I don't want to hear it,"

He groans, "Ah... You are boring," making a funny face.

"If you say so." Smiling at him.

He became serious again, "Back to my question?"

Pretending to think, "Hmmm... Am acting."

He looks around before looking back at her knowing she's lying, "Acting? with no one to record,"

"I mean to say I was practicing how to cry,"

"Jeez..." He laughed, "You are funny, Am Justin, you are??"

"Guess... cos I can't remember," Pretending to think of her name.

Justin, with a confused expression, "You don't remember your name?"

"Yea... Or call me Justina."

He wiggled his eyes at her, "You have to marry me to bear that princess."

She rolled her eyes at him, "I did not say, Mrs. Justin... I said, Justina."

Justin smirks at her, "The same... Never knew you would want to get married to me this quick but princess let's get to know each other first."

She scoffs at him, "Seriously? How are both r same thing?"

"Both have Justin in it princess." Winking at her. She raised her eyebrows at him before looking away.

Pleading, "Princess, tell me your name please,"

"Am Yvonne." After he tried to form a puppy face for her, unsuccessfully.

"Cute name, Yvonne." He kept repeating her name continuously

"Thanks, I need to get going like now." She stood up.

"Where to actually?" He stood up as well.

"Hmmm they call it strolling, Mr." Looking from him to another direction.

Justin looked at his wristwatch, "Huh working hours resumed. I would have strolled with you."

"You went to the office with these?" Pointing at what he was putting on in disbelieve.

"I am the boss princess. I came out to get something." He stretched his body.

"Okay... bye." Yvonne faced the other direction, opposite the one she came out from.

Justin stops her, "Your phone number?"

Without turning to look at him, "Hmmm..." Pretending to think, "When next we meet Mr. Justin." She went away.

Justin thought, "Seriously..."

He called after her, "Bye princess." Waving at her, "At least wave back." He shouted across the street.

She turned back to see him waving, she waved back at him, turned, and continued walking without looking back.

She moved from one restaurant to another, from eateries to eateries in search of a job and still no job. Feeling tired and thirsty, She stopped by a restaurant to eat and rest.

After eating, she walked out of the restaurant to go home.

She walked for about10 minutes before she noticed the vacancy signboard "Waitress needed."

She quickly jots down the address so as not to get lost.

30 minutes later, she got there and went inside.

She looked around and was impressed with what she saw and noticed a girl at the counter so she went toward her.

She tapped the high counter in front of her to get the girl's attention, "Excuse me?" The girl looked up. "Good afternoon."

"Afternoon. How may I help you?"

"I saw a vacancy in need of a waitress... so I came to..."

The girl interrupted her. "Am Linda... Yeah." Checking her out, "Interested?"

"Am Yvonne... Am interested." Holding her hands up pleadingly.

Linda smiles at her. "You are pretty."

Yvonne smiled back at her, "Thanks... You are prettier... When am I starting? Today?" She asks excitedly.

Linda coughed out, trying not to laugh at Yvonne's excitement, "I am not the manager and she's also not in and I don't think you can wait for her... Come back tomorrow morning around 8 am."

Yvonne thanked her and turned to leave.

Linda called her back, "Wait..." She checked through the files arranged by her left and brought out an application form. "You should fill this form and bring it along when coming tomorrow." Yvonne collected it, thanked her, and left.

She walked out of the place, happy and contented.

Yvonne smiled widely, folded the form neatly, and kept it in her purse before leaving for home to share the news with her family.
