Chapter 2

While the commotion had been going on with dead bodies and injured people filling the place, a young man managed to escape to the Castle gates and inform the king about what was happening. Without any time to waste, the king told the guards to inform the werewolf hunters and when news came that the werewolves had been tamed, the King and Queen along with their comrades set out to the market square to see what happened.

The king just stared into space when he saw the damage that had been caused because of the werewolf attack. His wife who too was as dumbfounded as him came to his side to hold his arm as if telling him to calm down.

He couldn't calm down with this situation at hand.

"My lord!" A man ran up to him with teary eyes and a broken hand with blood gushing out and he knelt before him, bowing deeply. The King acknowledged his greetings telling him to stand up.

"My wife.....my children.....my entire family is gone!" He burst into tears while saying so since he could no longer control the emotions that passed through him. The King was completely speechless not knowing how to comfort the broken man. He could imagine what it was like in his mind to lose his family. He bent down to pick the man up and comfort him before he instructed his guardsmen to take care of him and other people who had lost their loved ones.

"Telma" he called a guard.

"Yes, your majesty" he bowed.

"Dispose of all the bodies that are lifeless and make sure to take care of the injured." He commanded and the guard bowed in obedience.

The King and his chieftain worked down the bush with four hefty guardsmen on their sides, and his wife behind them while they discussed the problem and how to solve it. His wife stayed behind them because she was not supposed to involve herself in matters concerning the court when she heard the voice of a crying baby from afar. Though the men couldn't hear because they didn't have good hearing like the women could, she could sense that a child was in this bush or maybe something more...? She stopped in her movement and the guards behind her too stopped, making the guards beside the king and his chieftain stop and the king noticed.

"What is the problem?" The king questioned and they all gazed at the woman.

"I think there is someone here" and the guards prepared themselves as if ready to fight when they heard her say "A child.."

"How are you sure?" This time it was the chieftain man who asked the question and they saw the Queen lead them to the place she heard the sound from.

After a short while, they got close to the place and saw another dead body lying cold on the ground...the body was almost unrecognizable and with the way she had been butchered, they could tell it was a werewolf's doing.

The hefty men who had let down their guard a little before tightened it more now as if there might still be a werewolf lurking around. But the woman who was well aware there was no werewolf in the surroundings and it was just a baby's voice present continued moving towards the place until she saw a round-shaped leaf-like structure and immediately raised it to see the baby crying. There was a mild injury beside the baby's head caused by the force at which she had fallen.

The Queen immediately picked the baby up from where she lay and stroked the baby's head calmly, trying to lessen the baby's cries. She looked back to see her husband and the rest who were staring at her, astonished at how she found the baby.

They immediately left the bush after ordering the guards to pack up the body that was found and after some more few words with the magistrate of the district...they left in their carriages....
