Chapter 80: Shocking week.

A week passes by since Ryan had 'miraculously' survived the nuclear explosion. In his research lab at his penthouse, he is experimenting with the reward he gets from the quests. 

"Eezo, also known as element zero." Ryan takes out a piece of glimmering blue rock from his inventory space. He is wearing goggles and gloves. The space near the lab is sealed by him so that no one can interfere with his work. 

"I really don't expect the reward is this." He puts the fist-size blue rock into a cylindrical container connected to a power source. 

*Zzzt* He injected a positive charge into the blue rock. "Observable dark matter or dark energy is released and injected with positive energy." After he makes an observation, he manipulates the dark energy by pulling a lever. 

A blue halo lights up the surroundings. The material around the room starts to float around before it stops. 

"Manipulation of dark energy created a Mass Effect Field that can increase or decrease the mass content of space-time."

He can do a lot of things with the element. In manufacturing, low-mass fields permit the creation of evenly-blended alloys, while high mass compaction creates dense, sturdy construction materials. 

In space, low-mass fields allow FTL(faster than light) travel and inexpensive surface-to-orbit transit. High-mass fields create artificial gravity and push space debris away from starships.

"Too bad I only have a little of it." He only has 10 kg of the element. It is very rare even in its own universe. He put his experiment to a halt. He got another reward, which is a hard drive. 

He took it out and plugged it into his computer. "Even if it's the 100th time I plugged it in, it is very beautiful." He reads the knowledge contained on the hard drive. 

It comes from an advanced universe. Mass Effect Game. The world is set in the Milky Way galaxy in the late 22nd century. It's the year 2183, shortly after humans have made their first contact with alien races. 

The hard drive contains the technological advancement that society made till then. There are weapons blueprints, vehicle blueprints, space station blueprints, and some Salarian scientist knowledge. 

"Salarian is the researcher race in the story if I am not mistaken." Ryan mumbles. The reward is extremely rich for a lower-level civilization. 

"Marvel Universe technology can catch up, but they are focused on heroes or villains. This is a civilization that grows without superpowers. Just basic human scientific effort that didn't stop till we understood the universe." 

He is very excited to get the reward. He had been holed up in his lab for a few days. But first, he needs to settle a few things outside. 

" Damn, whenever I think about my meeting with Fury. It still makes me mad," While he was reading the hard drive, suddenly his mood soured. He is reading a description about operatives titled Fury. That bald head suddenly appeared on his head.

*Beep* Ryan is scanned all over before he can get into the SUV with Fury. He had come out from Stark's place after slapping him. Nowadays, Tony is living in New York. 

The plan to build the Stark building is already in motion. Ryan had a headache about this. The building is 5 blocks away from his Knight Industry building. 

"Sorry about that. Just a procedure. "Fury said. They had to scan if Ryan got infused with radiation. After all, he is at the epicenter of the nuclear bomb.

The team of agents makes way for him after they finish scanning him. "He's clean," the agent reported.

"Of course I'm clean. Don't pretend to check up on me to gain points. I already know you have taken my submarine away." Ryan mocked. 

Shield is already bringing the submarine somewhere else to check how exactly someone survives a nuclear explosion. An agent and a genius engineer by the name of Leopold James Fitz are studying the submarine. 

"It is an unregistered technology. We are seizing it for a while," Fury told the truth. Shield desperately needs the technology. The small submarine can be used for many stealth missions and can withstand great pressure. 

He knows the man in front of him has cast aspersions on his organization. If he keeps trying to manipulate or steer the conversation away, there is a high chance Ryan will leave. 

Fury is giving Ryan a ride to the parliament building. "How do you know about the second bomb?" Fury asks.

"Why? Suspecting me now?" Ryan said with a grin. Although Shield is grateful that he had carried the nuclear bomb out of the city, once the fog settled, they returned to their normal self. 

"It does make a person wonder. There isn't any hint. Nor did Asano tell the world about it. So how did you know it?" Fury told a lie. 

From Natasha's recording, they had watched the situation on the locked floor. The analyst finally found the hints. Asano is greatly obsessive and compulsive. The time of the bomb, the justification for his revenge, the military generals, and his invitations. All of it was analyzed.

 Fury thinks it is normal to worry about a second bomb. However, it is because he is an extremely suspicious person. How about Ryan and in a short amount of time? This is not a normal conversation, this is an interrogation.

"You think I have connections to Asano? Then you are a bigger fool than I thought, Fury. Let me give you my question instead. How could an organization, that prided itself in the protection of the world, couldn't notice a bomb right under their noses?"

"You checked the building before. So why couldn't you find the bomb? It is suspicious to think about, " Ryan doesn't cover the disdain in his voice. He did a nice thing, and he got fires underneath his feet because of it.

"Like I said before. This is just a procedure," Fury explains. However, Ryan's defensiveness in answering the questions got his suspicion deeper. The kid is the only one who benefits from the incident if he thinks about it. 

Ryan is looking at Fury in disbelief. He can guess what the guy is thinking. 'I am hinting to you about a problem in your organization, and you want to suspect me? That's it. I'm done trying to help you.' He is done being polite.

"Let me get something straight to you, Fury. You weren't the one who saved the country. I did. You are the guy who couldn't even keep a couple of fighters away in your home country to make way for me to defuse the bomb. I wouldn't even have to bring the bomb to the ocean if you did your job," Ryan argued. 

Not to mention that Ryan had given Shield some credit for the incident. Without Natasha, who is a Shield agent, dismantling the New York bomb. They will be in serious trouble right now. 

And she can only do that because Ryan gives her the napkin with the techniques. Some researcher in Shield is studying the techniques Ryan doodled on the napkin. But it will take them months to digest the calculations.

"Stop the car," Ryan said to the agent driving it.

"Sir, your order?" The agent asks Fury.

"...Stop it." Fury complied with the request. No one knows what he is thinking right now. Outside, Hiddle had been following the SUV. Ryan walks out of the car and enters Hiddle's vehicle. 

"Such a hassle," Ryan complained to Hiddle.

"Want me to do something about them, Young Master?" Hiddle asks. To be making Ryan complain out loud, Shield must be getting on his nerves. 

"Yes. Get them away from me." Ryan said, surprising Hiddle. The old man wanted to do something about it for a long time since Shield had been monitoring their family. But Ryan always gives them another chance. Now, things have changed.

"You can leave it all to me," Hiddle said, not disguising his bloodthirst. Fury had made an extremely bad move today.

In the Parliament buildings, Ryan met with the President of the United States and got a standing ovation from the reporters once he made an appearance at the press conference.

"God has shown us his miracle today," That's basically what the president said. His long speech makes Ryan dizzy.

"For your brave heroism, the country is bestowing you with this medal that is only given to the blablabla" The President pins a golden medal onto his green suit. He is still wearing the same type of suit he wore yesterday. 

The ceremony is broadcasted to the entire country. A man who is wearing a blue, skintight suit and studying the blueprints for Starks Industry had an intrigued expression on his face. His focus is on the medal. 

"That is mine." Spymaster said. He had another target to acquire on his trip to New York. But first, he needs to finish stealing his target at Stark's storage. 

Ryan is very tired. The ceremony is cut short. The reporters are greatly dissatisfied. They have not yet the full story of the incident. They are promised answers later on, as Ryan explains he just got out of the ocean.

Backstage, the President is thanking him personally. "Is there anything we can do to return the favor?" 

"Yes. You can get me my submarine back from Shield." Ryan said.

He shared a video of him carrying the bomb to the ocean. Mythic is teasing him because of another thing. 

School districts near Asano's building and Washington are sending children to meet him at Knight Industry to thank him. At that time, he was greatly surprised that he behaved unexpectedly. 

"Ryan, even if you're covering your face, your ears are still red" Gwen teases. Seeing the kids' innocent faces, Ryan put his hand over his face to cover up his embarrassment in playing the hero.

His blood rushes to his face, making it reddish. Even his ears are red. He hides behind Gwen to cover up his embarrassment. The kids are singing for him to thank him. Most children there are under 10 years old. 

"Please. No more. This is too embarrassing." He begged Gwen. She is the one who allowed the kids to enter. This is her revenge on him. Even if it is fake death, she didn't want him to do this type of thing alone. 

"Next time. Bring me!" Gwen scolded. She didn't want him to handle the burden alone. 

His red face is captured by a reporter and is viral worldwide. Mythic knows about this and won't stop teasing him about it. 

VampireKid: Are you going to become an Avenger? But your name is Hydra. 

RedWidow: Hydra is Shield right? Be careful with them. 

Mephisto: Agent Hydra. The Newest Member of the Avenger! 

Hydra: I am not becoming an Avenger. I f*cking hate Nick Fury right now. 

Nick Fury had taken the brunt of things after his interrogation of Ryan. First, he got admonished by the President. Shield isn't under a certain country, but instead the World Security Council. 

However, he maintained a certain relationship with the White House, especially in matters related to the United States. 

Honestly, the interrogation occurred after he met with Alexander Pierce, his mentor who cast some suspicion on Ryan. Pierce had been making observations that look like Ryan is the one who planned the whole thing. 

As the fighter jet is blown by Ryan, he gets suspected of sending the jets too. It's all Ryan's insidious plot to make him a hero to the world. That is what Pierce planted in Nick Fury's head. 

With Hiddle on the clock, Shield is having a really bad time right now. At first, the submarine was taken back in less than 12 hours. Their reach, not only on Ryan but all of Brooklyn is broken rapidly and growing. 

"Knight is pretty mad." Nick Fury sighs. He read the report of the sub. It is really a miracle that he survived. 

"He didn't stay at the ocean for 24 hours on purpose, but he had to do it. To repair the sub before he can get back on the surface, " Agent Fitz reported this to his superior. He couldn't study the tech of the sub before it was taken away. 

Nick is now trying to fix the relationship with Ryan. But even Stark wouldn't help him with that. He is pretty helpless in this situation.

"Bring Romanov and Coulson in. I have a task for them," Fury ordered his subordinates. He picked them as they are the only ones who have a good interaction with Ryan.

During the week, the most shocking thing happened to Ryan at his father's house. 

He came home after an invitation from his father. "He is suddenly so serious. This is unlike him. " Ryan mumbles as he drives his sports car to the mansion on Long Island. 

After parking his car and walking into the house, he saw his father talking with another old man. 

When Ryan fakes his death, his father's best friend comes to comfort him. They have not been meeting for 23 years. 

The old man is wearing glasses, with a lot of white hair on his head. He had a small stature, but he is still physically healthy even if he is approaching 70 years old. 

Ryan's eyes widened seeing who the guest was. 

Tim introduces the guest to him. "Ryan, this is Dr. Hank Pym. My friend from a long time ago. He is also your Godfather." 

"Hank Pym….. Godfather….. Wait What!!!?" He takes a step back. Hank approaches him and hugs him. 

"The last time I saw you was when you were only 2 years old. You're grown well." Hank Pym said with a kind tone. He was there the day Ryan was baptized. Even his daughter had played with baby Ryan a long time ago. It all happened before the incident. 

Ryan is frozen from shock. His mind shuts down a little bit." WHAT!? "

"Son, calm down. I will explain it to you over dinner tonight." Tim claimed. He will explain nothing. 

Hank tries to reconnect with his godson. "I heard you are taking your Ph.D. this year. You did well on your paper on the theory of the quantum realm." 

Hank had been following Ryan's path with great interest. Sometimes he wondered how someone like Ryan could come out from someone like Tim. Not that Tim is an idiot, but he is not an academic. 

"Wait. Hold on. I am trying to connect these things." Ryan stopped the conversation. 'How the hell am I the Ant-man's son? I MEANT GOD SON GODDAMNIT!' 

He is having an internal meltdown. He spent dinner with his father and godfather in a blank state. While they are talking, not once did Tim and Hank mention their wives. 

Ryan didn't notice this at the moment. There are a lot of things he still doesn't know about his parents. Now, he is focusing more on the Ant-man in front of him. 

Hank isn't great at social talk. All he can do is talk about some academic stuff. He pops quiz Ryan about some Quantum Realm stuff. 

"The Conservation of energy is the principle discovered by Sir Isaac Newton, it stated that, in physics, the law of conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system remains constant." 

"It is said to be conserved over time. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Rather, it transforms from one form to another." Ryan answers Hank Pym's question about decreasing the type of matter. 

"However, the excess energy could be shunted off to a pocket dimension. That way, the mass of material can decrease without it being destroyed." 

Hank Pym is greatly impressed. His question is the foundation of the Pym Particles, and Ryan got to the initial theory almost instantly. 

Tim is looking at the exchange between those two. He is confused by a lot of the questions. But Hank and Ryan seem to be having fun. 

"Come by to my house when you have time. I will show you something interesting." Hank said. Even he didn't realize what he did. He realized it by the time he got to his house. 

After Darren Cross, he is reluctant to share his life achievements with anyone. But Ryan is different. He is extremely like his mother. Even heroic qualities are inherited. Hank believed Ryan won't misappropriate his research. 

"I will when I have the time. These days I am being followed everywhere I go, so it's a little hard for me to come, " Ryan said. He is followed by the toughest organization there is. The reporters. 

"Next time, you need to wear a mask when doing these things," Hank advised. He didn't continue as Tim was glaring at him to stop. 

Ryan is suspicious of the two people's exchanges. 'I need to know what happened. Is it related to my mother in this world?' 

He will pry it from Hank Pym or Hiddle later on. This incident happened 2 days ago. He is now at his house experimenting while waiting for Gwen. He promised her something fun to do today.
