166 Chapter 165: Super-Skrulls.

Anthony Master, or more accurately, The Task Master was meeting with some people for a new mission he had accepted.

Before this, he had accepted a mission from an unnamed Baron to break out several individuals from the SHIELD's vault prison. The mission this time was unexpected for him. This time, he was hired to bring people into the prison.

"Are you sure?" He asked the woman that was standing in front of him. If any of the trio saw the woman, they would have instantly known whom she was trying to mimic.

"I'm sure. There are a few potential targets in the cells that we need to get to." Barbara said. The girl that Kai had met during the vampire entanglement in Hell's Kitchen, Barbara Morse – The Mockingbird had reappeared after a long time.

Behind her were several mens with familiar faces if they were to be seen closely. The Iron Fist, Danny Rand. Luke Cage. Jessica Jones. Even Skye.

"The most important target is also the most dangerous one." Barbara– Queen Veranka took out a picture of the target. The man in the picture has a doctor's white coat on and is holding hands with his young daughter.

"Sure. I can arrange that." TaskMaster said confidently. He believed his new exoskeleton armor that he has created himself from the ore he bought from Ulysess Klaw would be sufficient for him to break into any secure prison in the world.

"Will…any of your team be joining us?" Barbara asked. If she could get the radioactive man to join in, then her plan would finish early.

"Unfortunately, they are not coming." TaskMaster said and turned his back against the people in disguises. Then, he led them to a stealth quinjet he had stolen from SHIELD and flew over to an undisclosed location where the target was.

In SHIELD's vault prison.

The seemingly empty prison used to hold more than hundreds of individuals. However, with Kai and Ryan's effort, those who had gotten their powers by accidents were cured and had returned back to normal society.

Ryan had given them a choice to be trained by the Avengers and become a hero or return to their normal life as a normal citizen. Most of them accepted to return to their normal life instead.

"And, UNO. I won." Kai said and threw his last card on the table, defeating the duo in front of him.

The Crimson Dynamo, Galina, had already taken off her suit and was playing the card with Kai in his medical ward. She was wearing only a sport's bra and long sweatpants during the game.

She threw her card all over the floor. "Uhh, how can you be so good at UNO? Isn't this a game of luck? I demand a rematch."

"Sore Loser." Another girl threw her cards away on the table after Kai had won. Jennifer Takeda, a.k.a. Hazmat, was taken out of her cell as she wasn't a violent offender. However, she had to wear a radioactive suit to prevent her from killing anyone else accidentally.

"Why don't we play strip poker next?" Galina teased.

"Yeah sure. If you want to die." Hazmat snarled.

"Ladies please." Kai calmed both of them. "Don't make me regret taking both of you out of your cell. Don't worry, I'll still give you both ice-cream even if you're both losers."

Both Galina and Jennifer flicked their cards at Kai's face.

"Why don't you take that green-haired lady out? She looked nice to me." Jennifer asked. She had been passing from Madame Hydra's cell for a while and she had a good impression on the always smiling woman.

Goosebumps appeared on Kai's skin after the radioactive girl asked that. He placed his hand on her shoulder and said seriously, " You really need to learn how to judge people."

Jennifer felt warm inside after Kai touched her. Galina stared at the flowery background that started coming out of Hazmat, and interrupted the conversation quickly.

Previously when they first met, Kai had entered Jennifer Takeda's cell even without a protective suit and checked up on her without having aversions on her conditions.

After becoming close, she also hugged him and it was the first skin-ship she had felt in years.

Kai had told her that he was immune to her condition, and she would have her checkup without protective suit whenever she was with him. The only reason she was wearing a radioactive suit at the moment was to protect Galina, her unexpected friend that she had met inside the cell.

"Kai, are you sure I can go out?" Hazmat asked in a scared tone.

"You can. But you need someone to come with you for monitoring. I finally have a clue on how to fix your condition. It'll take some time and I will try my best to help you. In the meantime, enjoy your vacation. " Kai replied while smiling softly.

Normal science couldn't cure her, so that's why Ryan had created a magitech device to absorb the radioactive particle that she was emitting. The hazmat suit she was wearing had been collecting data, and he will have the final product by the end of the week.

Her potential was infinite, and could even create antimatter if she trained herself. But she was miserable for her entire life. Rather than creating a hero, Kai would like her to enjoy life like a normal 17 years old girl would.

"SIR!!" A SHIELD agent slammed the door of the medical room and entered hurriedly.

"What is it?" Kai asked casually.

"Director Fury…he…" The agent was gasping for breath, but Kai was still calm. "He had escaped!!"

Kai was silent for a minute. The agent had found out about the LMD that had replaced Fury when he went to feed the ex-director his food. The agent in front of Kai was also the agent responsible for sneaking in notes in Fury's food from Brand, but Kai won't expose him.

It seemed that Fury wanted to meet with him by doing this. But he didn't care about the ex-director's scheme at all.

"(Yawn) Just call the Oracle and let him handle it." Kai said, stunning the agent in front of him. Then, he closed in and whispered to the agent's ears, "If Fury really wants me to find him, he shouldn't let the person who had slipped him the information from the outside world do the job as bait right?"

Kai patted the agent's shoulder and left him stunned there. After a minute, some LMD agents came in and arrested the spy who was delivering the news.

"Galina, Jen, I'm too tired. Go back to your room okay?" Kai said.

"Only you will call it a room." Galina muttered in dissatisfaction. Even if it was unlocked, it was still a cell room.

Kai stared at Galina, causing her to flinch.

"W-what?" she stuttered.

"You're already released and you're the one who wanted to stay here to wait for Jen. Don't blame me for your room then." Kai teased.

Galina had already faced her trial and was extradited to become an American citizen afterward. Even though the Russians objected to the process and demanded her Crimson Dynamo armour as a compensation, a few research labs being blown out had changed their mind.

Even if he didn't want to do it, Kai needed to check up on Ophelia.

"You're a bad guy. You know that, right?" Viper said sadly. Even though he kept his word of protecting her, he didn't speak even a word with her outside of his business.

Ryan had recovered 616 bombs that was planted by her organization. It would have decimated the whole New York if it was blown off as most of the bombs were inside the sewer and touched New York City's foundation.

The bomb would'vel caused the city to slip into the water from the continent, becoming the new Atlantis. She didn't even knew about the potential of the bombs as her orders was bypassed by Set at that time, and she kept trying to create a good impression on Kai.

"Don't stress your heart." Kai muttered before he left. Viper's eyes became teary after he left. Not that she was actually crying, but she wanted him to see her tears. Too bad he wasn't buying it.

"Missy, he sure does hate you. HAHAHA!" A bald, burly man a couple of cells over mocked her.

"Shut up Creel. Your voice is nauseating." Ophelia said coldly.

"HAHAHAHA!" Carl Creel, the Absorbing man laughed. His cell's inner walls were made from materials that were softer than the outer wall, making it useless even if he tried to absorb the materials to break out.

A soft voice was giggling at the woman, but it was too low for her to hear. The man who was giggling had his mouth gagged as his superpower was a supersonic scream.

Kai chuckled seeing Ophelia's misery and entered the lift to get back to his medical ward when suddenly the light in the prison flickered.

He checked the communications. All the communication inside the prison was cut off. It seemed that the entire prison was isolated from the outside world.

"What's the matter doc? Are you by any chance scared of the dark?" Carl Creel mocked.

"Nope. But you should be." Kai answered ambiguously and he pressed the lift button as usual.

At the same time, Ryan received the notice that the prison's communication was shut down by an internal factor.

"So the Taskmaster has decided to come back. Who will he try to take with him now?" Ryan smirked. But since you're there, let me make sure you stay right here."

He decided to call the Avengers and SHIELD to handle the matter. After all, he is the Vice President now and couldn't enter the front line as much as he wanted anymore. "This sucks." He muttered in dissatisfaction.

"Carol is in the galaxy at the moment. I wonder how she would feel after knowing that she has missed all of this fun." Ryan mumbled and sent a text to Carol.

The Avengers had become alerted by the situation. However, the moment they wanted to enter the Avengers Jet and visit the said location, they heard multiple explosions coming from all over the city.

"Did Viper detonated the bomb?" Natasha asked hurriedly.

"No. This is… New." Tony replied while JARVIS was scanning the explosion's damage. "The explosion has damaged the Brooklyn Bridge and the citizens are in danger! The bridge is falling down."

The team quietened down after hearing Tony's report. As they were quiet, suddenly they heard the big green humming a song.

"London bridge is falling down~ Falling Down~ Falling Down~"

"Hulk, are you serious?" Barton asked while he was checking his equipment.

"What?" Hulk asked, not understanding what he did.

Tony took out the satellite view of all the explosions and showed it to the team. Captain America studied the situation and made a plan inside his head.

"Hulk! Thor! Go to the Brooklyn bridge and try to hold the bridge together. Natasha and Hawkeye, evacuate the citizens from there. "

"Ayala, find out the cause of the explosion with your nose. Tony, you go to the prison that needs help. Stay in contact at all times! I'll contact SHIELD to provide us some help here."

"The explosion was happening at the same time the prison went dark, it couldn't be just a mere coincidence. They want us to stay in New York. So we have to finish early and go to the prison. " Captain America ordered.

"I will go to the Times Square location." Captain said and activated his jet pack.

"The Templars too. They are nearby." Natasha interjected in case they forget.

"They are already moving. Even Spider-Gwen, RoadBlock and Patriot are all moving to help." Tony explained and flew outside. He will support Kai at the prison. Thor and Hulk didn't listen to all of the order and were already nearby the bridge.

"We couldn't be late then." Barton said and started his personal hawkeye hoverbike while smiling gleefully. He rubbed the bike's body, extremely satisfied that he could debut his new partner.

"Could you at least hide your happiness. People are dying out there." Ayala said while on top of a new tiger-themed hover bike.

"Move first. Bicker later." Natasha said and pressed the throttle of her new widow's hover bike and flew out from the tower with Ayala and Barton following closely behind.

In the Vault prison.

"Go do your thing and meet me back up here." TaskMaster said to the group behind him. Then, they moved silently and disappeared into the shadows.

A squad of LMD robots headed to where TaskMaster was. Then, they shoot at him with their energy gun. The TaskMaster avoided the attacks by jumping at the walls and using the walls as a footing to enter the LMD squad space.

He took out a sword and slashed at the LMD, cutting it from its torso. "Robot?" TaskMaster muttered. "It'll become easier then." He smirked behind his skull mask and rolled on the ground to the place of his next target.

He moves in an unpredictable direction, confusing the SHIELD's robots targeting AI. In less than a minute, all 12 of the LMD robots were destroyed.

The Skrulls moved around the prison and they destroyed the prison system while they were at it, making all the prisoner's cells to be unlocked. However, there were only 20 prisoners left in the prison, defying their expectations.

"Where are all the superpowered humans?" The Skrull posing as Luke Cage was confused.

"Doesn't matter. Our target wasn't them." Jessica Jones Skrull said.

At the lowest floor of the prison, the cell of Carl Creel, the notorious murderers and even Madame Viper prison's cell was opened. One prisoner had a blade as a limb and another could spit acid from his mouth.

"What? Is this a test?" Carl Creel said while walking out slowly from his prison cell. He hesitated for a while, but it looked like there weren't any guards coming to stop him.

"Hahahaha. I'm free!" Creel said while touching the extremely hard prison cell metal made with special composition. His entire body turned dark gray in color.

While the prisoners there were celebrating, a gentle voice suddenly sounded from the elevator's entrance. "If you want to get out of here, you need to do it quickly before the backup comes."

Barbara and Iron fist's imposter walked calmly to Creel and the others. Then, they reached Madame Hydra's cell . She was still staying inside the cell, not moving from the spot. After all, only Kai could protect her.

"Even without the bombs?" Barbara's imposter asked her gently.

Viper eyes become cold. "What do you mean?"

"What I meant was, your bombs are all deactivated. Only the trigger was left inside your heart, and it's useless now." The Skrull queen mocked and locked Viper inside the cell before she could lunge out.

"He didn't tell you this because he wanted you to stay obedient inside the cell."

"Now, you're truly trapped inside. Bo ho." She made a fake crying motion and left after mocking the Viper. She had infiltrated Hydra before and had a personal encounter with Madame. She felt refreshed seeing the ugly and grimacing face of the ex-head of Hydra.

Before she could lead the prisoners outside the prison and start her plans to steal their powers for the super-skrulls, an explosion occured near the elevator leading it upwards.

"Do you really think that there are no guards here?" Kai said coldly and had a scalpel in his hand.

"Do you really think you can stop all of us with a small knife doctor?" Carl Creel said confidently.

"Yeah. I can." Kai said.

"We'll see if you can still be cocky after this!" The villain with a supersonic scream dislocated his jaws to increase his mouth size and screamed at Kai!

"AAAAHHHHH!"

A massive shockwave blasted all over the floor, making the prisoners nearby crouch down and cover their ears. Some even bleed from their ears.

However, to the screamer's surprise, Kai wasn't at the place he was targeting. Then, he felt that his consciousness was hazy, and he staggered. He fell down soon after, and Kai could be seen behind him.

"Now." Barbara grimaced and ordered the Iron Fist Skrull beside her. The Skrull's hand let out a dark glow and he sprinted toward Kai. He swung his chi-powered fist toward Kai.

BOOM

Kai avoided the punch, making it hit a prison cell and let out a reverberating gong sound. He swiped the leg of the Iron Fist Skrull, making it fall down.

Before he could finish the Skrull by stabbing the scalpel through his eyes, Carl Creel interjected and tackled him with a steel body, slamming him into the walls.

"HAHAHAHA, that's what you get doctor-"

Before he could gloat, Kai's palm grabbed his face and slammed his head to the wall multiple times. After he was done, Carl Creel was unconscious and his head was buried inside the thick steel walls.

Barbara's imposter saw that they couldn't handle the doctor, so she summoned all of her warriors downstairs with their prisoners.

Jessica Jones and Luke Cage's impostor went down to support them, while pointing a gun at Galina and Skye.

At the regrouping place. TaskMaster had cleared out the agents there and was waiting alone at the place. He will only wait there for 3 more minutes before they need to go, otherwise he will leave this place alone.

"Ahh, found one." Suddenly a robotic voice appeared and caught the attention of TaskMaster.

"Tony Stark." TaskMaster smirked slyly when he saw his opponent. He admired the man responsible for creating the working armor. In fact, his armor was based on a Stark suit. The previous Spymaster that was cultivated by him had offered the suit's design to him even though he had abandoned the guy.

"Yeah-yeah, that's me. I assume you're responsible for this?" Tony asked while flying midair.

"What if I am?" TaskMaster replied while gripping his sword and holding his gun tightly.

"Then, I can beat your ass." Tony said and aimed his palm repulsor toward the man in the skull mask. However, TaskMaster had read his body language and avoided his aiming the moment he started to raise his hand. He shots multiple electric orbs toward Tony, stunning his Iron Suit.

"Holy shit. Why can't I shoot this guy?" Tony said in dissatisfaction after failing to aim at him and shooting only at the TaskMaster's shadow multiple times.

"Is this the best Iron Man could do?" TaskMaster asked instigatively.

"Shut up. If I can't hit you in one direction, I will hit you in all directions." Tony said and shot out multiple small missiles and burned down the 50 meter area all around him.

"Finally got that annoying fly." Tony said. However, his scan showed him something surprising. The TaskMaster was unscathed in the explosion!

At the lower floor, the Skrull had brought out Skye and Galina in front of the doctor.

"Kai Help!" Galina yelled. Unlike Tony, her suit didn't have an automatic equip function so the suit couldn't fly toward her. She was captured before she could even do anything other than hiding Hazmat in a safe place.

"Dad! HELP!" Skye's imposter screamed for help from the doctor. Kai widened his eyes when he saw the hostages, and Barbara's imposter smirked after seeing his reaction.

"Let us go, and we'll let them live." Barbara's impostor said. Kai had taken down 10 of the super-powered prisoners there by the time the other Skrulls hurried to the location.

Kai was silent for a while, making the prisoners make their way in the opposite direction. Suddenly, he said something that defied their expectations.

"Shoot them then."
