Chapter 25

I woke up in so much pain. My head and right arm were killing. I saw blood still oozing out of a large gash on my arm, and I felt dry blood all over my face for the most part. I sat up with a painful groan and looked around me to find myself in a cell.

"Mila, Mila." I heard my name being frantically whispered. I looked in the direction of where I heard the voice. I locked eyes with Julian.

"Oh, thank god you're alive." His eyes showed something that I've rarely seen, fear.

"You shouldn't be here, Mila. Are you okay? There is so much blood on you." Besides feeling like I got hit by a car, I think I'm good.

"I think I'm fine. My whole body is killing me, though. I went to get up, but I yelped in pain when I put weight on my right arm.

"Mila! What's wrong?" He inched his way to the front of his cell that was across from mine in an attempt to get closer. I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to fight off the pain.

"I'm fine. I think it's broken, though." I gritted through my teeth.

"Mila, you need to tie something around that gash on your arm too." I just nodded my head. The only thing I could think of to help is the jacket I have on. I took my left arm out of the sleeve and wrapped it around my arm. It's the best I could do. I can't really tie it off that well.

"I'm so sorry, Mila. I'm such a shitty guardian. I always have been. Back when we were younger, and you were being abused, there wasn't much I could fully do for you since I would have exposed my race. I just tried my best to be there for you emotionally." I shook my head at him.

"Julian, there wasn't much you could do. Even if you would have intervened, you're right, you would have exposed your race, but also, I wouldn't have been able to be around you at all. I would have been fully isolated with no one, and I know I would have truly died. You and my mom gave me a reason to stay alive." I could feel tears coming to my eyes, and I saw them come to his as well.

"Have you seen Hector?" He looked down solemnly.

"I saw another body being brought in with you. They reeked of blood and death. I'm sorry, Mila, but I think he's dead." I could feel tears finally breaking free and making their way down my cheeks.

"It's all my fault," I said with a trembling voice.

"No! It's not your fault whatsoever. It's whoever is behind this." I heard his words, but they didn't change my mind in the slightest. My heart ached for Hector. Soon I heard a door open and closed with a loud thud. I looked up and saw the last person I wanted to see.

"Why are you here?" I gulped in fear and inched my way to the furthest corner of the cell. He just smiled menacingly.

"What? No hug for your old man?" I could feel myself shaking in fear.

"You are not my dad. You are nothing." I spat. His smile immediately dropped from his face and was replaced by a scowl. His eyes showed how infuriated he was. He unlocked the cell and threw the door open. It slammed off the wall, making me jump and shrink further into the corner.

"Stay the fuck away from her!" Julian shouted. He looked back at Julian and laughed.

"You're useless, you always have been. Sit down and shut up." I could feel Julian's anger flare.

"Open my cell, and let's see how big you think are then." He just scoffed at what Julian said.

"You won't do anything like you always has." Julian's face immediately fell. His eyes went back on me, and he made his way towards. Drawing closer and closer. He grabbed my injured arm and jerked me up. I screamed in pain.

"Mila!" Julian roared and was trying to break the cell door down. The monster ripped off my make-shift bandage and dug his fingers further in my wound. I dropped on to my knees in so much pain.

"Stop hurting her!" I could see Julian's wolf side come to the surface. His voice deeper than usual, and his eyes glowing.

"Shut up, boy!" He then turned back to me. A psychotic look in his eyes as he disgustingly smiled.

"I love watching you in pain. It's like a high." He gripped my arm with both hands and snapped it down. I heard a loud crack, and I screamed in pain again.

"That's right, Mila. Scream like the pathetic bitch you are." I could feel tears spring from my eyes from how much pain I was in.

"Fuck off. You're the pathetic bitch." Spat in his face. He threw me to the ground and wiped his face off.

"You're going to regret that." He walked towards me; the last thing I remember is his shoe coming towards my face.

Emma's POV:

"Someone tell me you have something!" I roared out impatiently. My vampire side hasn't gone away since they told me that they found the SUV lying upside down on the road. A random tracker was the only one brave enough to speak up.

"No, we don't" I grabbed him by his collar. I immediately felt a hand on my shoulder. I snapped my attention towards the hand and found Elisia.

"Emma, you've got to calm down. You act like this isn't helping. You're affecting everyone's mood." I took a deep breath and dropped the guy down onto his feet. He stumbled back, moving as far away from me as he could.

"I'm sorry. I don't know how to. Can you see anything yet?" She just shook her head.

"Someone better find something soon," I growled out venom laced within my voice. I made my way to the back door and slammed it open. I stalked my way towards a tree and just punched it repeatedly as piece by piece broke and flew far away.

"Emma…" I heard a small voice call out. I looked back towards Chloe. She made her way towards me and immediately brought me into a hug. I immediately broke down.

"Let it all out, Em. I know, I know it hurts so bad. Not knowing if they are even alive or not is enough to kill you. I'm here; I'm here." I just continued to cry into her shoulder.

Mila's POV:

I woke up in even more pain. I immediately doubled over, getting sick. I look over at Julian to see him look at me in distress. I heard a door open, and I made my way towards the corner, shuddering.

"Good to see you awake, Mila." I looked at them in complete shock.

"Hector?" I questioned in a small voice.
