Chapter 147: Contempt

Rampant thunder and lightning wreaked havoc around it, as it flapped its remaining wing in a frenzy. Yet, for some reason, in its remaining claw, it was clutching a petrified lizard.

Its claws pierced into the back of the petrified lizard, tightly grasping its spine. The petrified lizard struggled madly, continuously spitting petrifying venom, but the venom evaporated upon contact with the electric fury surrounding the Thunderbird.

Seemingly aware that its prized method of attack was futile against the Thunderbird, the petrified lizard suddenly opened its mouth, biting down hard on the Thunderbird's remaining leg.

At the same time, the Thunderbird ceaselessly pecked at the petrified lizard's head with its sharp beak, splitting it open in a few strikes.

Instantly, blood spurted through the air, belonging to both the petrified lizard and the Thunderbird. This mixture of blood, brain matter, and venom fell like a foul, dirty rain, soaking Murphy completely.

The venom-laced blood corroded his skin, abruptly waking him from his daze with intense pain.

He instinctively looked at his magic wand. His right arm appeared to be broken, the bone protruding, but he still gripped the wand's handle tightly.

His magic wand was also broken.

Only a fragment remained in his hand, with feeble blue magical lightning flickering at the broken end.

Then, he heard a screech.

Looking up, he saw the Thunderbird swallowing the petrified lizard's brain.

He suddenly remembered reading in magical creature lore that Thunderbirds indeed prey on petrified lizards. For them, the brain of a petrified lizard acts like a hallucinogen, significantly alleviating their pain.

Indeed, after consuming the petrified lizard's brain, the Thunderbird's cries ceased. It dropped the petrified lizard's corpse and then, turning its gaze, fixated once again on Murphy below.

In an instant, the Thunderbird's golden eyes met Murphy's.

From that cold gaze, Murphy read endless hatred and a wild intent to kill.

It wanted to kill the being that had brought it such pain.

The murderous intent was chilling.

"You want to kill me?"

Suddenly, fear of death dissipated, replaced by a nameless rage.

I'm already in this state, and you still want to kill me?

The intense pain fueled his anger, erasing any remorse he might have felt for inadvertently causing harm.

"Fine! Come on! Fuck you!"

Do you think I'm an easy target? That you can just squash me?!

"Come on, beast! Bring it!"

Murphy's murderous intent soared. At this moment, he too wanted nothing more than to slaughter this lawless, feathered beast.

He had no chance of winning.

His wand was broken, his arm was fractured, and nearly all his bones were shattered. His internal organs were severely damaged. The Thunderbird didn't even need to attack; its massive weight alone, pressing down, would be enough to crush him into pulp.

Such was his dire situation.

Yet, Murphy suddenly burst into laughter.

Is this how I die?

Is this my end?

Fuck that!

I refuse to believe I'll die before achieving my desires!

If this is my fate, then I'll grab it by the throat and tear it apart!

He stared down the Grim Reaper lurking in the shadows, mocking its impotence.

"You will have no victory."

"Even if you kill me, all you'll get is contempt!"

He suddenly bit open a vial of Rapid Regeneration Serum and gulped it down.

Instantly, it was as if a bomb exploded in his stomach, his organs feeling as if they were being ripped apart, melting. The intense pain made him scream, a terrifying transformation taking place in his body. Blood sprayed from a lung wound, halfway transforming into a thick trachea, and at the end of this trachea, a mini lung lobe grew.

At the same time, his bones crackled, spurs breaking through the skin to grow, and his muscles split, with new muscle growing along each tendon.

In moments, he swelled to nearly three meters tall, his body covered in bone spurs and muscles, with organs growing wildly across his surface.

Endless pain made him howl to the sky. Suddenly, he opened his eyes again, and from the shattered socket of his left eye, more and more eyes of various sizes began to emerge, all fixating on the Thunderbird in the sky.

With a "bang!", he leaped into the air, his legs shattering from the immense recoil but regrowing from the broken bones in moments into multiple new legs of varying lengths.

"Ga!" The Thunderbird dove down, and the two colossal beings met mid-air.

With a bang, Murphy's right fist, swollen to the size of a wheel, smashed into the Thunderbird's head, while its remaining claw pierced into Murphy's chest.

Then, they fell from the sky, crashing hard to the ground. The Thunderbird desperately flapped its only wing, its claw frenziedly digging into Murphy's chest, tearing off large chunks of flesh and even excavating Murphy's organs.

But Murphy, seemingly oblivious, laughed maniacally. His mutated arms grabbed the wing, then he opened his mouth, biting down.

His teeth shattered, only to be replaced by larger, sharper fangs that bit deeper.

He then pulled fiercely, tearing off tendons, and his gigantic, mutated hands tore the wound wider.

The Thunderbird screamed in agony, its beak piercing Murphy's face, puncturing half of it.

Murphy froze for a moment, but then he pulled his head from the beak, roaring to the sky, his arms suddenly tearing the remaining wing from the Thunderbird's body.

His punctured face quickly swelled, covered in eyes and teeth, unrecognizable from before.

In extreme pain, the Thunderbird seemed to give in to fear, desperately kicking Murphy away. In a moment of extreme pain and fear, it summoned thick clouds above the canyon.

The clouds gathered, darkening the sky, and suddenly, fierce tornadoes arose, lifting Murphy and the Thunderbird into the air. Murphy lost his balance, breaking free from the Thunderbird.

Just as he was about to lose his target, Murphy's back extended two thick arm bones, from which ribs grew like a row of spikes.

Muscles rapidly covered them, followed by scales like those of a petrified lizard, and feathers sprouted from between these scales, forming a pair of huge black wings.

The wings flapped, accelerating him through the storm, catching up to the Thunderbird, and with a bang, knocking it out of the tornado, then dragging it higher into the sky.

The Thunderbird struggled desperately, electric sparks erupting from its body, carbonizing Murphy's flesh layer by layer, which then regrew under the terrifying power of the potion.

Suddenly, Murphy grabbed the Thunderbird's beak, one hand on each side, and with a fierce tug, ripped its head in two.

He tossed the Thunderbird's body to free fall from hundreds of meters in the air, holding up the other half of the head, roaring to the sky.

"Ga!"

His face twisted, protruding a massive beak,

gold and black eyes bubbled out from the sides of his grotesquely swollen head.

Suddenly, he plummeted from the sky, "bang," crushing the Thunderbird's body into mush. Then, opening his beak lined with human teeth, he swallowed the Thunderbird's brain, bones and all, in one gulp.
