Ch 9: Max

Under Lucius' arrangement, Lorion went with Lucius to Malfoy manor. It was a huge manor with quite a gloomy atmosphere.

Lucius introduced Lorion to his wife Narcissa and his son Draco. When Narcissa and Draco heard that Lorion was the godchild Lucius has accepted, as well as the fact that Lorion was the last descendent of the noble House of Gaunt, both of them accepted Lorion enthusiastically.

Draco even started acting like a big brother, quite happy to have a brother of his own. After a while, Lorion was taken to his room by the family's house elf, Dobby. However, on his way, he heard a faint murmur.

"Hungry…food…food"

It was the Occamy in Lorion's pocket which fell asleep after eating the egg shells and had just woke up. Lorion asked for a dead rat to feed the Occamy and finally went to his room.

Closing the door, Lorion let the Occamy out and let it eat the mouse. The Occamy flew happily after having its meal. Lorion looked at it and said in Parseltongue "From today, you shall be named Max. You will be my partner and we will together roam the magic world!"

Quite happy with its new name, Max let out happy chirp. Though Occamy, unlike other serpents didn't hiss, Lorion could understand what it meant. Max flew down and coiled beside Lorion, clearly ready for another round of sleep. Lorion too stroke its head lovingly and didn't disturb it again. He still had lot to do.

Taking out his wand, the next thing Lorion experimented with was the ability to fly. However, he was quite depressed, as before he could levitate a few meters, he fell down. He started feeling weak and empty, as if he had lost all his magic. Luckily, the feeling didn't last long. However, Lorion decided never to try flight again.

He even contemplated if he should try the invisibility. However, curiosity got better of him and he finally gave it a try. Thankfully, this experience was not like flight. As he thought and channeled his magic in the gem, he became invisible, but there was no discomfort. After a few minutes, he again channeled his magic thinking of becoming visible and the invisibility wore off.

This was quite exciting for Lorion. He didn't need any cloak to be invisible. This could greatly help him in a lot of his plans. Lorion was quite excited and tried this invisibility a few times more. Finally, after playing with his wand for a while, Lorion was quite tired.

He remembered the diary he picked up from the vault. Sitting on bed, he took out the diary, just curious what was written in it.

The diary was brown in colour, looked antique. There was a symbol of snake on the cover of the diary. However, to his surprise, when he opened the diary, Lorion didn't find a single word written in it.

Reminding himself of Tom Riddle's diary in the movie, Lorion took out his quill and ink.
