97 Secret ritual

Nick didn't rush off to go do the ritual immediately due to the fact that the ritual itself calls for it to be done in a specific environment. The exact steps for the ritual was to first find a place without any light and then draw the circle with a single line from east to west through the center. The eyes of the beetle go on the west end of that line while the eyes of the bat go on the east. The caster then stands in the center of the circle between both points removes all light from the area and make sure it is after 8:00p.m but before 2:00a.m.-

With the rest of this done the incantation is spoken and if done correctly the sets of eyes will transform into smoke and flow into the wizards eyes giving permanent night vision. Nick obviously had some time before eight at night so he instead went to his workshop and continued reading the ritual books he had taken from the library. It was truly a wide and profound subject as many of the rituals never showed up again in any of the other books even if the end result of some of them were the same.-

Within the time until dinner Nick finished one book and was halfway through another with him only finding one extra ritual to add to his list of planned ones. This ritual was known as the ritual of nature and what it did was give a large jump in magical power but had harsh requirements to perform. First the caster must be under the age of thirteen , second was that the boost received must include vital parts from at least three magical creatures and less than seven. The exact parts and creatures were irrelevant to the ritual but more powerful creatures parts gave better results.-

Third was that the ritual must be performed during Beltane or the annual event where magic floods the planet for exactly three hours. Specifically the hours of 11pm to 1am on may first and this ritual can only be used a single time in ones life. It was also specifically stated that this ritual has no effect at all on future magical growth so it's all benefits and very little cost beyond money and time. Nick would likely have plenty of money after this time so collecting six powerful creatures parts in the next seven months is no problem.-

One of them he could get during his hunt for an acromantula in the forest since the big spiders heart wasn't considered it's vital part but rather it's pincers and venom sacs were. The best part is they didn't need to be full of venom to count either. Hunting an acromantula was like killing three birds with a single stone making Nick more sure that it was the best choice he could make. He wasn't sure what the other parts from other creatures would be but he had plenty of time to work out those details later.-

Packing up the books into greed Nick made his way to the great hall for dinner and when he arrived didn't notice the conflicted look Dumbledore was giving him. Rewind much earlier in the day on the old wizards side and Dumbledore had made a trip to Gringotts early in the morning. This was a special visit on his part as he had come not as a political figure but as the technically legal guardian of the orphan Nicholas Iron. Dumbledore found it funny how by wizarding law he was the guardian of every magical orphan in the british isles when he had no children himself.-

Normally consent needs to be given when the blood is drawn for an inheritance test , however as the legal guardian of the boy he had the right to wave this away. The goblins were respectful of him when he arrived as he was a very important person and held a lot of holdings in his hands. Dumbledore was amused at the look he got when he spoke to a goblin at a counter about getting an inheritance test done.-

He was aware that he was over a hundred years old by now and so asking to see if he had any interesting ancestors at this point was extremely odd. It was only after he had been asked to present his blood that he cleared up the confusion by handing over Nicks blood instead of his own. The goblin in charge of the ritual was very much unamused by the misunderstanding but still went through with the test. At first everything was going smoothly but then the image summoned by the ritual transformed into an silver and blue eagle crest thrumming with power that made Dumbledore realize he may have made a very big miscalculation.
