13 Chapter 13 - Dodge

It is now night time and I am still in the infirmary.

I separated the second ring from my thumb and placed it on the bed as I got up to leave.

Sleeping there is now a duplicate of me.

I poked it a few times and it is indeed realistic.

I activated the spells on the ring still on my hand and I disappeared from sight.

As a test I walked out of the infirmary and waited.

I made sure that none of my own mana was leaking and that I sensed my mana signature from my illusionary clone.

I walked through the halls making my way to the seventh floor to find the troll painting.

As I was moving I saw Mrs. Norris, Flitches' cat.

I walked by but when I got within a few feet of the cat it turned to me but looked confused when it saw nothing.

It started making noise and meowing so I used the taser function on the ring and ran out of there as I heard fitch was coming.

I finally made it to the painting and felt that something was wrong with my mana sense.

It seems Dumbles put an alarm here to see if anyone entered the room.

It is just outside the painting which means he wasn't able to affect the actual Room of Requirements.

I changed my mana frequency to that of the natural mana in the air and wrapped it around the metaphorical tripwire hook that the goat fucker set up.

Just as I was about to use the ROR I realized that I didn't think of what I wanted to work on.

I thought back to the beating I got from the headmaster's puppets.

I couldn't suddenly become a good wizard or start to get stronger or else it would put the evil old man on edge so I thought about making some kind of passive defense spell and then pretending that the spells had an effect if they hit and work on my dodging.

With that I asked the room to set up a place where I could practice defending and dodging.

I walked passed the trip wire and even added my own alarm system attached to Dumbles one so that I would know if Quierlemort decided to show up.

Inside was an arena with a bunch of manikins with wands.

Beneath the arena was a stand with a book explaining how it works.

Basically there are different levels from 1 to 10.

It seems that there is another arena where you are allowed to fight back but on this one it is only for dodging and defense.

I'm still working on a defense spell so I will focus on my dodging skills for now.

I started with level 1 and dodged everything easily.

I continued with the levels and made it to level 4 before I got nicked in the shoulder by a knockback and fell down.

I set the level back to one and conjured a blind fold.

I wanted to try and see if this could increase my mana sensitivity or even get me something similar to observation haki.

Before I try anything with haki I decided to focus with my mana sense.

I got hit a few times but managed to make it to level three without my sight.

I felt like I was onto something and continued practicing throughout the night.

I made it back to the infirmary in the morning and was pretty soar with all the different spells that hit me.

I managed to make it to level 6 if I took off the blindfold and level 5 with the blindfold still on so I managed to at least improve.

In the next week I'm going to practice until I can dodge regularly even with my eyes closed up to level 10.

I noticed that my mana sense did indeed improve so I know this is a good way to improve it.

The problem I noticed is that the dummies can not do transfiguration or can't do it yet so if they throw a solid object instead of a spell I won't be able to sense it with my mana sense.

I'll have to figure out something similar to haki to dodge solid objects without my eyes.

After a few days in the infirmary I was finally discharged and I started working on a defensive spell that I call mana skin.

It is not very strong right now and I can't cover my whole body but I should be able to use runes to help for now.

I want to be able to do this passively without outside help.

While developing mana skin I realized that a lot of my mana is wasted which means my control in not so good.

It got me thinking about chakra control exercises from Naruto and then I thought of shadow clones almost immediately.

If I can create a spell similar to that it would be amazing.

And with my occlumency I could create a receiver in my mind to sort the memories of the clones so I wouldn't have to worry about overloading from the memories.

Even without that receiver, with all the programming knowledge I have I have formatted my mind much better and it works much more efficiently.

Over the few days I continued going to class and the ROR at night to practice.

I even started going through Tommy's memories, starting with his Hogwarts education and realized that it was much better than what we have now.

No doubt after the goat licker took over as Headmaster he must have removed a lot of things to keep the sheep in line.

With this in mind I was even more determined to figure out shadow clones so that I wouldn't have to go to class.

I was in the main hall eating and was brought out of my thoughts.

Susan: "Hello I'm Susan Bones"

"Hello Ms. Bones and as you probably know I'm Harry Potter, it is nice to meet you"

She blushed when I shook her hand and then kept talking.

Susan: "I heard you were sent to the infirmary for the past few days, did something happen."

"Well just a misunderstanding between classmates"

She obviously did not believe me and I couldn't tell the truth because I already portrayed myself as a paranoid kid that hides his pain to Dumbles so I had to go through with it.

Susan: "Well let me know if something bad is happening. Even if I can't help my aunt may be able to"

I completely forgot about her aunt and that reminds me that I need to somehow catch Pettigrew and send him to her office.

I have to somehow do it anonymously as I can't know about these things.

I think I will create an alternate identity as Killua Zoldyck and even work as an assassin to get some experience.

With that out of the way it was time for my first flying lesson.
