Chapter 49: The Hallows

They arrived in front of the Lovegoods house, which Mr. Lovegood called The Rockery.

It was a cylindrical tower made of some dark stone on top of a hill. It reminded Harry of those old wizard towers used in medieval times that he had read so much about.

"I like it. It looks like a proper home for a wizard" Harry mentioned in his opinion.

Xeno turned to look at Harry and then at the house.

"I'm glad you like it, Mr. Potter. My neighbors have suggested more than once that I should renovate the place or just tear it down and build something more modern. But this has been my family home for almost a millennia now." Xeno smiled at him.

"They are fools then. And call me Harry, if we are going to live in the same house we can drop the formalities."

"Very well Harry, you then have to call me Xeno. My full name is a bit long so my friends call me like that instead." Xeno said.

Luna, who was getting impatient with their conversation, started pushing them towards the house by placing her hands on their backs.

"Come on!, let's go inside. There is pudding waiting for me there!." Luna said with a blissful smile.

"You also need to show Harry his room." Her father reminded her.

"Yeah, that too!."

Harry was guided to the third floor of the tower, where his room was.

The room was simple but cozy. It had the basic necessities, a bed, a drawer for his clothes, a desk, and a chest to store anything that was not clothes. It seems to have been cleaned and organized recently.

Harry took his trunk out of his pocket and removed the shrinking charm he put on it.

"Do you like the room?" Luna asked

Harry looked at her for a moment. "Yes, this will do, I appreciate you letting me stay here." Harry gave her a sincere smile. He was truly gratefull for the fact that he will not have to spent his summer in a small house filled with redheads and an overbearing mother, for what he have heard about them.

Harry then took off his coat and place it on the bed, He then placed his invisibility cloak on the bed also. He always carries it with him even tho He rarely uses it since he is able to cast the Disillusionment Charm in a second and with no wand. The cloak however is not without use. By the tests he had done, the invisibility offered by the cloak is a lot harder to detect than the charm.

Luna's eyes were drawn towards the cloak "Is that an invisibility cloak?. I didn't know you had one. Can I hold it?"

Harry looked at the cloak "Sure go ahead. I haven't found much use for it. It was given to me last year by the Headmaster, apparently It belonged to my father. "

Luna examined the cloak and raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Your father? Harry, invisibility cloaks don't last that long."

"Yes, I know, is strange. But this one still works perfectly."

Luna kept examining the cloak with curiosity and moving it around until she found the symbol that has been engraved near the neck part of the cloak.

Luna's eyes shoot wide open and she gasped.

"This can't be real!"

Harry was startled by her sudden reaction.

"What is it, Luna?" He followed her gaze towards the strange symbol on the cloak.

"Oh that. That could be the mark from the maker, do you recognize it?"

Luna turned to him. "Harry, this is the mark of the Deathly Hallows!."

Harry raised an eyebrow. "The Deadly Hallows?. You mean that children's tale about Death and the three brothers?"

He has heard about that story several times, some people believe it to be true, but for most, is just a children's tale and nothing more. In all of his travels, He never found any evidence of those things existing.

"My father believes it to be real, He has studied the lore about the Hallows for years. You need to show this to him. He will know if it is real." Luna said with a serious face.

Harry nodded and they left the room.

Xeno was in his study on the fourth floor writing something very intensely when they came in.

"I'm sorry dear, but I'm a bit busy right now. I need to finish this article by the end of the day."

Luna approached him and opened the cloak in front of him."Look, daddy!"

"An invisibility cloak?, that is an interesting thing sweety, but as I said I'm bus-"

Luna interrupted him. "Look at the symbol on it!."

Xeno picked up the cloak and carefully examined it. When He saw the symbol his face went pale.

"This can't be!"

Xeno went to one of his drawers and took out a small book. He started flipping through the pages until it reached the page He was looking for.

The page seems to contain a very detailed description of the cloak of invisibility created by Death, and it also includes a very well-made drawing of the cloak.

Xeno started to compare the two and his face seem to become even paler as time passed. They were a perfect match.

Once He seem to be done, He approached Harry, and seem to be carrying the cloak with a lot of care.

"Harry, can you tell me where did you get this cloak?."

"It was passed down from my father. The Headmaster was the one keeping It before He gave it to me last year." Harry answered and observed the reaction of the other man.

Xeno gave the cloak back to Harry before going back to the little book.

"The Potters… yes, I remember they were mentioned somewhere here."

He kept flipping pages for a while…then he stopped.

"Here it is! The Potters, yes…, one of the last members of the Peverel Family married into the Potter family six hundred years ago. Less than a century after that, the Peverell family went extinct. They must have passed it to the Potters then, why couldn't I think of this before?."

Xeno was speaking very fast and then started mumbling something.

"Daddy" Luna called. But her father was still too engrossed in his musings.

"DADDY!" Luna yelled this time. That seems to work and Xeno stopped his rambling and looked back at his daughter.

"Ah, sorry dear. I got lost in my thoughts."

"So?. Is it the real one?." Luna asked curiously and Harry was also waiting expectantly for his answer.

Xeno smiled at them and said.

"Oh yes. Without a doubt. That is one of the Hallows." He said, pointing at the cloak on Harry's arms.

They were both surprised, especially Harry, who didn't believe they were real until now. He always knew there was something special about this cloak but didn't know what it was.

At that moment, another thought came to his mind.

'If this is truly a Deathly Hallow, then…the stone on the Gaunt ring has the same symbol. Do I really have two of the three Hallows? '
