Chapter 10

Breaking free

Despite its degraded state on the outside, the inside of the shop was very well preserved. One could tell that this place was very old, but everything seemed to be in pristine condition and there was not a bit of dust.

There were many shelves on both sides of the shop filled to the brim with all sorts of artifacts and strange objects. At the back of the shop was a counter and behind the counter were two doors, one on each side of the room.

A very beautiful woman who looked to be around her mid-twenties was sitting behind the counter reading a book.

She only lifted her gaze from her book once Harry had reached the counter and said. "Good evening Mr. client. What can Madame Webb do for you?." She didn't seem fazed or surprised by the fact that her new client could not be older than twelve. There are many ways to change one's looks and even age, although only in appearance. And she knew this very well. Despite her looks, she was actually well past her seventies.

Harry looked at the woman. He has made deals with her in the past. As long as you had the galleons, she was able to provide almost anything, and he needed some materials that were very rare, not to mention illegal. He took a piece of paper out of his pocket and gave it to the woman.

"I need all of the items on this list."

She took the paper and started reading. "The forest nymph blood will take me some time to obtain, a few months or maybe a year. There are few of them left in the world. The rest I have it all here." She gave him a serious look "This will not be cheap and I require payment in advance, even for the nymph blood, since I will have to hire someone to get it. I am sure you understand my dear client." She said sweetly.

''Name your price" Harry answered without changing his expression.

She started writing on parchment and making her calculations and then said. "180.000 galleons and I don't make discounts." She took a bag from behind the counter very similar to the one Harry used back at the vault and gave it to Harry.

He knew what to do. He took his own bag and used some of his magic to move the coins from one bag to the other, exactly the amount asked. Once he was done he gave the bag back and she inspected it.

Once she was satisfied told him to wait while she was getting the materials and left through the door on the left.

She came back with a very beautiful wooden box and placed it on the counter. Then open it and took a step back. Harry looked inside the box and inspected the contents. Several vials and flasks were inside containing a variety of things. Liquids of several colors, parts of animals, and plants.

Once he was satisfied with the inspection he closed the box and placed it inside the dimension pocket of his wallet.

"I need to make use of your back room for a few hours."

From the two doors behind the counter, she now approached the one on the right. There were many runes inscribed on it. She pulled her wand and started touching the runes following a specific pattern. Once she was done, the door opened. "Go ahead, my dear client. Take your time and don't worry, no one will detect anything cast inside this room, no magic can leave it."

As Harry entered the room the door closed behind him and the runes on the walls started to shine. The room was a perfect cube, around one hundred cubic meters. There was nothing inside it. No furniture or decoration. Not even a window. Of course, there was no need for it since this room was mostly used to perform rituals or to test dangerous spells. Or anything that you didn't want the ministry to know about. Because of the protections, nothing that happened here could be detected on the outside. The blood wards back in his house had the ability to cover some magic, but they may not be enough for what he was about to do.

Harry went to the center of the room, he removed all of his clothes and took his wand. He then started casting diagnostic spells over himself until he saw a mark on his right leg shine. 'I found the tracking charm. The old man is going to get a surprise when he is unable to track me. But he will never suspect I removed it myself. Sometimes tracking charm will lose effectiveness over time, and this one was cast ten years ago.'

After removing the charm he went to the next objective. To remove the magical bindings. This was the main reason he wanted to use this room since he is not sure what effect it is going to have. His magic was already very strong and he didn't know how much of his magic was currently bound. Usually, magical binds for children are about 20% to 30%, but if the old man tried to bind more than that… the reaction could be…very hard to conceal.

He closed his eyes and started to focus. Bindings are easy to place when the target is a toddler with an undeveloped magical core but they are not easy to remove, especially if you do it after the age of ten when the core has already started to develop, and is even more difficult if you have to do it yourself.

The magical core is not a physical organ inside your body but an abstract concept. However, it is commonly agreed that it is situated at the center of the chest. So Harry focused on that area, trying to visualize it. He has done an exercise like this many decades ago, during his travels through China.

Soon he was able to see it. In the middle of what seems like a dark room, there is a ball of pure white light. Surrounding it, there is what looks like a chain made of red light. It seems to be tightly wrapped around it, constricting the core and preventing it from expanding.

He knew this was going to hurt like a crucio. He approached the chain, grabbed it with his bare hands…and pulled as hard as he could. The ball of light started to shine even more while the light from the chains started to dim and cracks appeared on it. Harry was already starting to feel a sharp pain in his chest, but he didn't stop.

The chain seemed to feel it was being broken and started to shine brighter. "DUMBLEDORE!. Do you think you can stop me from achieving greatness? No!, not in my past life and NOT in this one either!."

He kept pulling and pulling until…the chain broke.
