Chapter 6: Ivan's Wand (Edited)

An elderly man with silver pupils came out from behind the counter and said, "Good morning."

He walked over and stood in front of them, saying, "It's good to see you, Mrs. Weasley. If I remember correctly, your wand is made of cherry wood and is twelve inches long, strong and good for magic."

Mrs. Weasley hurriedly stood up and greeted Ollivander, saying, "Yes, Mr. Ollivander, I love the wand."

Mrs. Weasley then introduced Ivan and Ginny, "This is Ivan Mason and my daughter, Ginny Weasley, they are both first year students at Hogwarts and need to buy a new wand."

Ollivander said, "Of course, of course!"

Mr. Ollivander's gaze turned to Ginny and Ivan and said, "A wizard needs a wand to cast spells, but remember, the wand always chooses the wizard."

Ivan swallowed saliva, not knowing how to respond.

Ollivander quickly said, "Okay, let me take a look!"

Ollivander pulled a silver tape measure out of his pocket and walked over to Ginny, saying, "Ladies first, Miss Weasley, which hand will you use your wand on?"

Ginny replied quietly, "Right hand."

Ollivander said, "Please raise your arm."

He then began to measure her arm, starting from her shoulder to her fingertips, and then from her wrist to her elbow, from her knee to her armpit, and finally her height.

As he measured Ginny, Ollivander began to explain to Ivan and Ginny, "Every Ollivander wand has a strong magical core as its essence. I usually use unicorn hair, phoenix tail feathers and dragon sinew, each and every Ollivander wand is unique because no two unicorns, dragons or phoenixes are identical. Of course, if you use a wand that belongs to other wizards, the spells will never be as good."

"Please remember this, it's the wand that chooses the wizard!"

After he finished speaking, he disappeared between the shelves, and before Ivan had time to relax, he saw Ollivander approaching again with a box.

Ollivander approached and whispered quietly, "No doubt, the Weasleys are the unicorns' favorite."

Ollivander then held the wand close to Ginny and said, "Try this one, 14 inches, ebony wood, unicorn hair and a bit flexible."

Just as Ginny grabbed the wand, Ollivander quickly snatched it away from her and said, "No, I guess it should be another one, 8 inches, made of willow wood, unicorn hair and very flexible."

As soon as Ginny took the wand, red sparks shot out of the wand like fireworks.

Ollivander said, "Extraordinary combination, very suitable for manipulating magic spells, your spells will be splendid."

Then Ollivander turned to Ivan and whispered, "Mr. Mason, I think it's your turn now."

Like Ginny, Ivan used his right hand, he was measured, but his selection process was not as simple as Ginny's.

Ivan tried one after another, but as soon as he took the wands in his hand, Ollivander quickly snatched them away from him, which made him look a bit silly.

Ollivander looked happy and said, "Like Mr. Potter last year, you're a fussy customer, but that doesn't matter, we'll always find the best wand for the wizard!"

Ollivander began to ponder and said, "Let me think, oh yes, fourteen and a half inches, vine wood, Thestral hair, this is the last wand my great grandfather made, he was a very famous wand maker in his day."

Just as Ivan received the wand in his hand, a current of heat burst from his fingers and the tip of the wand emitted a white halo that spread around him, like ripples on water.

Ollivander looked cheerful and said, "Wonderful!"

Then Ollivander's voice softened and he said, "I'm not much for Thestral hair, but I must admit, Mr. Mason, you and the wand are a fantastic combination!"

Ivan said, "Excuse me, sir!"

When only he and Ollivander were left in the tent, Ivan asked quietly, "What's so wonderful?"

Ivan was really curious, the core of the wand in his hand was made of Thestral hair, unlike the other wands made by Ollivander.

Ollivander said, "It is a well known fact that Thestrals are considered an unlucky symbol."

Ollivander then looked at Ivan, saying, "It is a very rare wand core that can only be controlled by wizards who can control death."

Ollivander's voice seemed to slowly fall on his ear, and after listening to his explanation, Ivan had the urge to throw his wand away, he did not want to enter the school and be considered by the others as the successor of the Dark Lord.

Ollivander said softly, "Mr. Mason, you have a powerful positive energy, which is completely opposite to that of Thestral's hair, so I can say that you are extraordinary."

Then Ollivander reached up to Ivan's face and whispered softly, "Remember, the wand chooses the wizard, Mr. Mason, there is no doubt that you will achieve extraordinary things in the future."

Ivan was horrified by the feeling that all his secrets were being seen through him.

After leaving Ollivander's wand store, he sighed in relief.

Next, Mrs. Weasley took Ivan and Ginny to the "Madam Malkin, robes for all occasions" store, but compared to the previous ones, Ginny's spirits were low, as she would have to choose from the second-hand robes.

Ivan felt it was cruel, especially when he asked to be measured, as he looked at Ginny's sad expression not far from him, he felt like a sinner.

Ivan said, "Mrs. Weasley, thank you for inviting me into your home."

Mrs. Weasley walked over to Ivan and rubbed his hair as she said, "Dear Ivan, you don't have to be so polite, both you and Harry are good boys, and Arthur and I welcome you to our home."

Ivan said cheerfully, "Thank you, I would like to give you a gift as a thank you."

Then Ivan awkwardly said, "If you don't mind, I'd like to give Ginny a new robe."

Mrs. Weasley said with a surprised expression, "No, that's too expensive."

While Ginny, who was standing off to the side, raised her head expectantly.

It looked like Mrs. Weasley wanted to refuse. So Ivan quickly said, "You can consider it as a Christmas present for Ginny, after all, we are friends."

After more than 10 minutes, with Ivan's joint efforts of persuasion, Ginny's gaze and Mrs. Malkin giving a reasonable discount, Mrs. Weasley finally promised to accept the gift.

The next moment, Ginny gave Ivan a hug, and looking at Ginny's blushing face, as well as Mrs. Malkin's smile, Ivan felt embarrassed for a moment.
