Chapter 301: Whispers from the dark

The Acromantulas that had just gathered fled everywhere. Ivan didn't have time to deal with them. Instead, he urged Buckbeak to chase after the spider that had taken Malfoy.

The spider took Malfoy straight to Aragog's lair, because there was no wind, the fog inside the hillside was so thick that it blocked Ivan's view.

He did not hesitate. He knew the Acromantula was going there. Just as she was about to drag Malfoy into the cave behind the domed web, Ivan and Buckbeak appeared spectacularly in front of her through the dense fog.

"Help!" Malfoy cried faintly, and reached out to Ivan.

Buckbeak rushed over, intending to tear at the corpse-filled web in front of him, but the dome-shaped web remained intact.

The robustness of that messy web was beyond anyone's imagination.

With the force of the bounce, Ivan jumped off Buckbeak.

He waved his wand sharply in the air. With a loud clatter, several decaying corpses hanging from the web flew downward, blocking the Acromantula's path.

Click, click!

The Acromantula that was forced into a dead end let go of Malfoy, turned and ran towards Ivan, its large, sharp pincers snapping with desperate madness, ready to fight to the death.

Ivan gently pressed his wrist down to the right, and a beautiful silver light flashed past, leaving a faint trail in the air. The Acromantula's body was split in two and fell to the ground.

Ivan had enough magic and skill to make that spell fly fast enough. It made the green, sticky blood of the spider fly in one direction, splattering Malfoy, who was paralyzed behind it.

As Ivan approached, he fell face down on the ground, gasping, coughing and vomiting repeatedly.

Buckbeak tried several more times and found that the huge web could not be damaged. After that, he gave up, landing on the ground.

Goyle and Crabbe, who had been speeding along with him, were lying there panting.

"Get up, we have to get out of here fast." said Ivan bluntly.

"She's dead, this spider has been killed by you, and the monsters are running away..." Malfoy choked back sobs, and didn't dare look into Ivan's eyes.

"These Acromantulas are nothing at all. If we don't get out of here quickly, you'll know what the real problem is." Ivan looked around carefully, and quickly gathered magic in his wand. He did not put his wand away.

It was odd that Aragog hadn't shown up after all the commotion.

Who knew what the cunning spider was hiding in the depths of the earth? It didn't feel right to feel at ease.

This was in addition to the large number of Acromantulas off the hillside that were ready to move.

After all, when Ivan first arrived here a few months ago, he saw that any Acromantula was several times larger than the one he had just killed.

As they grew in size, the strength and danger of the Acromantulas increased as well.

Ivan wasn't planning on wasting time here, especially when he had these three charges at his side. Instead of giving Malfoy time to rest and recover, he turned around and asked Goyle and Crabbe to hold him on Buckbeak's back. He went behind the web and looked deep into Aragog's lair.

Ahead of him, there was a gentle slope downward, not too deep.

The cave was dark, and warm wind and mist blew from below.

Although this was only the second time he had come here and his first close observation, Ivan didn't know why he always felt this was familiar, as if he had been in this cave many times, and even down this gentle slope....

He shook his head and stood up in position. He could feel the strange trace of black magic more clearly.

He was sure it was not magic he knew.

The warm breeze, infused with blood and a strange smell, was uncomfortable, like the murky air in the divination classroom.

Ivan was confused. He seemed to hear a voice speaking to him.

Vague fragments of memories reappeared in his mind, and the forgotten illusion showed him a surprising secret, the meaning of the ancient emblem....

He had only to follow this gentle slope, and the whole truth would come to light.

"Come on, come on, I've been waiting a long time!" A low voice, somewhere, rang out, "You're resisting tenaciously; you're holding on to your little life, as if you really could change everything. It's just an unrealistic illusion. All resistance is futile. You will understand... "

"Everything has a soul, all souls can be swallowed, and souls will tremble in darkness. This is your final destiny." A voice whispered, "I have swallowed their souls, now it is your turn!"

"Come, come, lamb lost in the dark forest, your soul has been marked by me. Endless fear has enveloped you, will you sleep to escape the fear?" he whispered softly. "Do you dream when you sleep? In your dreams, you will experience more terrifying fears than reality."

"No one knows this secret. In the deepest depths of the earth, you can only be redeemed if you find the emblem I left behind..."

Ivan stood there, feeling a voice speaking in his mind. But he didn't understand what it meant.

This was just too strange, where did this sound come from?!

It wasn't until Malfoy called out to him that he came to with a start.

"Did you hear something now?" asked Ivan hurriedly.

Malfoy, Goyle and Crabbe shook their heads in disbelief and looked around in horror, not knowing what he was referring to.

Ivan wanted to say something else, but stopped himself immediately. He could feel something coming from below.

There were many of them, perhaps Aragog and his descendants, or worse!

He hurriedly turned around and climbed onto Buckbeak's back as fast as he could.

Just as he sat down, Buckbeak flapped his wings and flew upward.

The misty slope grew smaller and smaller under their feet. In the end, they managed to get out safely, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Behind him, Malfoy was pale.

He looked at Ivan's back and hesitated, as if to thank him.

However, giving up dignity to thank a dirtyblood was an absolutely difficult thing to do.

Not to mention that that dirtyblood was usually one of the most annoying people to him.

Malfoy was confused, and then he considered why he was in the Forbidden Forest today, why he was captured by the Acromantulas. The underlying reasons were all due to Ivan and Harry. This thought made him even more reluctant to thank her.

He opened his mouth, but said nothing. He was determined to find an opportunity to return this favor to Ivan, or to return it with Golden Galleons.

In short, he would never say those words!
