Chapter 1: The boy and the owl (Edited)

The twilight glowed a light golden color as the sunset slowly disappeared over the horizon at Grand House, 6 King 's Road, London.

It was a classic English-style villa, spacious, bright and elegant.

The three-story wall was covered with vines, the roof was covered with beautiful brown tiles, the lawn and flowerbed in the garden were manicured, and a luxury Bentley car was parked outside the garage.

It was a beautiful sunset, serene and peaceful.

Except on the upper balcony of the villa, a dark-haired boy was staring at an owl, the two of them formed a strange atmosphere, which did not fit the surrounding atmosphere.

Ivan Mason looked at the owl with eyes full of curiosity. The owl was not extraordinary, it was like any other bird that could be found in any other house, but in its talons was a horrible brown parchment.

Ivan had a strange feeling that the letter was for him.

But he wasn't sure how to get it, because the owl seemed to want to get some kind of reward from him and then he would be willing to deliver the letter.

"Hello" he greeted Ivan, trying to communicate with the owl, even though it was making him look silly.

"Hoooo~"

The owl hooted softly, tilting its head or looking at the boy, its brown pupils full of suspicion.

Ivan spoke softly, trying to make his voice sound pleasant and said, "Don't be nervous, I don't want to hurt you."

Then Ivan slowly held out his right hand and said, "That letter at your feet is addressed to me, I think..."

Before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a loud shout from below, "You're ready, my dear, we're leaving!"

This was followed by the sound of someone coming up the stairs.

"Oh no, it's my mother, I can't let her see you!"

Ivan suddenly came to his senses and refused to try to communicate with the owl, waving his right hand in an attempt to shoo it away.

"Hoooo!" The offended owl rushed out of the way.

Ivan waved his hand as he hastily explained, "Sorry, my mom is allergic to birds, she freaks out at every type and size of bird she sees."

He then said to the owl, "You need to get out of here!"

It seemed that Ivan's irrational gestures had finally convinced the owl that the boy in front of him was not going to give it anything to eat. A second later he flapped his wings and flew up to peck at Ivan as he tossed the letter at his feet.

"Uh-oh!"

Ivan let out a cry of pain and watched as the owl flew off the balcony like a whirlwind and disappeared from his sight.

Before his mother came in, he bent down and recognized the envelope under his feet, written in emerald green ink that clearly read: third floor, 6 King's Road, Little Surrey, Mr. Ivan Mason.

"This letter, as well as that owl..."

Ivan squinted at these obviously peculiar things, what is happening to him right now is giving him a familiar sense of deja vu.

A well-dressed middle-aged woman came in and said, "Ivan, we have to hurry, your father has been waiting for us in the car."

Mrs. Mason spoke in a slightly serious tone and said, "It's very rude to be late for your first visit to other people's homes."

Ivan quickly said, "I got it, Mom."

Ivan didn't have time to think about it and slipped the letter into his pants pocket before his mother noticed.

His family had a small family meeting tonight with his father's business partner, to be more precise, his father's construction company was preparing to buy a large amount of drilling equipment from the other party.

Ivan would not normally have to be involved, but the other family had a son a year older than him who was in Smeltings High School.

Ivan turned eleven this year, and in about a month he will continue his studies at Smeltings High School, so his parents felt it necessary to put him in touch with prospective students older than him.

On the way, Ivan felt he had to divert attention from the letter in his pocket, so he said, "Mom, you haven't told me what the boy's name is who is at Smeltings High School."

He wasn't sure if he would tell his parents until he had a clear idea of what the letter contained.

Maybe it was someone's bad joke, and there was no need to worry his parents about it.

Mrs. Mason replied briskly, "As I told you last week, my dear, the boy's name is Dudley!"

Added Mr. Mason as he drove, "Dudley Dursley, I bet they'll be good friends."

Ivan said, "Dudley Dursley, it really is a good name..."

And then he looked down in contemplation.

In fact, he knew someone by that name too.

If he remembers correctly, Dudley should have been a character in the series of Harry Potter novels he had read before he was reincarnated. In the books, Dudley was an arrogant, spoiled child who gave Harry Potter a miserable childhood.

Ivan had a great impression of him, but it was not a good impression.

However, they were characters from a novel, and although he was reincarnated in England in the 1980s and 1990s, there was no evidence that this was Harry Potter's magical world.

"Relax, it should just be the same name."

Ivan tried to convince himself, though seeing that owl earlier made him quite uneasy.

Taking advantage of his parents not paying attention to him, Ivan sneaked the letter out of his pocket, quickly flipping the envelope over, the back of the envelope had a wax seal with a coat of arms, a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a capital "H".

Ivan's eyes snapped open, holding the letter tightly, as he read the letter:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY.

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(Order of Merlin - First Class, Supreme Head, Grand Sorcerer, Supreme Mugwump, International Confederation of Wizards)

Dear Mr. Mason

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enclosed is a list of all required books and equipment.

Classes begin on September 1st. We are expecting your owl no later than July 31.

Sincerely, Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress.

Gosh, this is an entrance letter to Hogwarts, I should have thought of that, apart from a magic school, who else would send a letter with an owl?.

Noticing Ivan's abnormality, Mrs. Mason said, "My dear, you needn't be so nervous."

Then Mrs. Mason whispered trying to reassure him, "I heard your dad say that the Dursleys are very friendly and that Dudley is also a good and polite boy, you will love this new friend."

Ivan unconsciously replied, "Yes, Mum," Ivan unconsciously replied.

And then Ivan went on to say, "I'm not nervous, just a little excited."

For the past eleven years, he had been preparing for the future according to the real world he was familiar with, and now he was told that this was a whole new world of magic for him, isn't this a joke?

He was very familiar with the Harry Potter novels before he was reborn, and although he couldn't remember the whole plot, he could more or less remember the main events, which relieved him a little.

The question now was how to tell his parents.

Besides, if he wasn't mistaken, he would probably meet Harry Potter as well as the Dursleys later on.

As Ivan pondered this, his father slowly stopped the car and said quietly, "Here we are, dear, number 4 Privet Drive."
