Chapter 39: Ritual of Resentment – 1.

Whitehorn looked at Snape with a bit shock, "Correct… it is indeed an enchantments which has ties to ritual magic."

"Well, ritual magic can't be used for enchantments. It's more like this broom was cursed with ritual magic. The cruse got triggered when a certain condition was met, what that condition was… it's hard to tell without knowing which ritual cruse it is. But I can say for sure that this curse is very advance and complex. So much so that I can't tell you much, also I am not that knowledgeable about ritual magic."

Whitehorn looked towards Dumbledore with serious expressions, "The person who did this is certainly very proficient in ritual magic." He got close to Dumbledore and whispered, "You do know who are infamous for this type of magic, don't you? I hope you find the person who is responsible for this. I do think that he may have ties with 'Them'."

Dumbledore smiled, "Your expertise are always top when it comes to enchantments." He looked towards McGonagall, "Prof. McGonagall I think you owe Liam an apology."

McGonagall looked at the innocent Liam with shame, "Mr. Gremory I apologize for my impatience and for blaming you. I don't know why but suddenly I started feeling some kind of resentment towards you."

Snape looked at her as she said this, 'Even she was affected.'

Liam looked at the apologetic expression of McGonagall, "Professor you don't have to apologize to me. Anyone in your position would have made the same conclusions,"

Whitehorn looked at the young boy with a smile, 'He is not only talented but also very mature for his age.'

"The young lad is right, instead of apologizing you should hurry and try to find the person who used ritual magic. Practice of Ritual Magic was banned many centuries ago, but still it's being used. I will have a word with the Minister of magic for this matter." Whitehorn decided, he put his hands on Liam's shoulder, "Young lad, you should pay me a visit in your summer holidays. Maybe I can teach you a thing or two." He laughed while putting a card in his pocket.

Liam nodded.

"If that's all then I would get going." Whitehorn said with a sigh.

Dumbledore hugged whitehorn, "Goodbye, until we meet again."

"Until we meet again…" he held his suitcase and disappeared.

Liam kept looking at the place whitehorn was standing, 'He aparated in Hogwarts!!! Only the headmaster should be able to do that… I guess some people are exception. I must pay him a visit in the summer vacations. Who knows maybe he would teach me the spell he used to make the enchantments visible, I can't keep borrowing Michael's glasses every time I want to do advanced enchantments.'

Dumbledore looked at the troubled Snape, "Severus I think you have already investigated the matter. I guess you knew the involvement of Ritual magic in this incident." He had already seen the book in his hand just as he had entered the office.

"I am afraid to tell you that this seems to be a more severe problem than we had calculated. The moment I saw a sudden changes in the Gryffindor students I concluded that it had something to do with Ritual magic. But I didn't know which one." He placed the book on his hands on the table and opened a specific page.

"We shouldn't be having this conversation in front of a child. Liam you should head back to your dormitory." McGonagall reminded.

"Liam is very much involved in this case, because he is the person on who was targeted by the ritual magic. We can't have him running around. " Snape reminded.

Liam understood what kind of situation he was in.

Snape pointed at the book, "I suspect this was the magic used, 'Ritual of Resentment.' It's a type of ritual which can make a group of people resent the target, to a point which may even lead the people to kill that person." He looked towards McGonagall, "I also suspect that the group in which the resentment was spread was 'Gryffindor' which also includes you Prof. McGonagall."

McGonagall was shocked, she thought about it for a while, "Yes it did seem to me that I was kind of getting some resentment towards Liam, to think that it was because of a bloody ritual. It's very heart breaking."

Snape continued to explain, "There's a good news as well. The person who performed the ritual seems to be a young wizard. The effect of the ritual should have been much higher that what we can currently see but the severity of the ritual is increasing with time. The younger wizards were affected a lot while the older and a bit powerful wizards hadn't been much affected. But now it's even affecting strong wizards like Prof. McGonagall, if it's not stopped or the ritual is not broken then all the Gryffindor students and professors alike will be out for blood, Gremory's blood"

Liam felt chills down his spine.

"You have done a very good job Severus, keep Liam with you for the next few days. He will be safe with you. Have you found a way to break this spell?" Dumbledore asked.

"The only way to break the ritual is to find the person who performed the ritual and have him break it. An object is bound by the ritual, and that object can only be broken by the person who performed the ritual, we have to capture that person and have him break the object." Snape explained.
