I know that the story may seem slow in the beginning, but that is intentional. I want to take the time to immerse you in the world and introduce you to the characters. I also want to let you know that my plans for the Hogwarts arc is relatively small. While Hogwarts is an essential part of the story, I have even more exciting adventures planned for Charles outside of the school. I hope you enjoy the journey and thank you for your patience and support. Sincerely, RogerW

Family issues

I stepped out of the classroom, relieved to be out of Professor McGonagall's scrutinizing gaze. My heart was racing as I saw my sister Emma waiting for me outside.

"Hey, Emma," I said with a forced smile. "What brings you here?"

She grinned at me, her green eyes twinkling with mischief. "Just wanted to thank my dear brother for saving my ass earlier. You really came through for me."

I chuckled, trying not to think too much about the events that had just transpired in the classroom. "Of course, sis. I always have your back."

Emma raised an eyebrow, looking at me suspiciously. "Are you really my brother, Charles? You never get involved in my shenanigans that could land us both in detention." She said with a laugh.

I joined in her laughter, hoping that she didn't suspect anything. "Well, I figured I'd make an exception this time."

We continued to talk for a few more minutes, Emma updating me on her latest pranks and antics around the castle.

"How are Huginn and Muninn doing," she asked with a casual gesture.

I tried my best to keep up the façade, pretending to know who Huginn and Muninn were. "Oh, they're doing great," I replied, hoping that it sounded convincing enough.

Emma looked at me strangely, her brow furrowing. "That's good. You sound like you have no idea who I'm talking about though," she said with a grin.

"I, uh, ha ha ha," I let out a nervous, dry laugh.

Emma still looked at me suspiciously, but thankfully, she didn't press the issue any further.

"Can I borrow them?" Emma asked as we neared the common room.

"What for?" I replied, raising an eyebrow.

"I thought they could help me with my Wingwhisper study," she said, trying to sound convincing.

I raised an eyebrow, knowing that she was up to something. "Wingwhisper study, huh? You sure it's not for some prank?"

Emma couldn't hold back a grin. "Okay, fine, you caught me. It's for pranking people. But think about it, with their abilities, we could pull off some epic pranks!"

I shook my head. "No way, Emma. I'm not letting you use my ravens for pranks. They're my pets, not tools for mischief." I said, now being sure it was about the ravens in my room.

Emma pouted, but didn't push the issue. "Okay, okay. It was worth a shot," she said with a shrug.

We said our goodbyes, and I made my way back to my dormitory.

I found a letter from my father waiting for me. The raven had delivered it to my bedside. As I opened the letter, I couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension.

My father had ordered me to find a student who had disappeared in the Forbidden Forest named Mikkel Madsen. He seemed to think that I would have no problem finding a clue on him, citing my supposed power to burrow through solid rock. It all felt so unreasonable.

First things first, I take out the enchanted trinket that was in my pocket and held it tightly, attempting to calm my racing thoughts. With a deep breath, I focus my magic through the trinket. However, this time, I feel a sharp pain throughout my body, causing me to gasp in agony. A burning sensation begins to spread across my skin as purple cracks appear all over my arms. I can sense the power growing stronger, but the pain is almost unbearable.

Despite the pain, I grit my teeth and force myself to continue, holding the trinket firmly in my hand. I feel my magic surging through me, awakening memories that I had long forgotten.

Before entering Hogwarts, my father had brutally taught me numerous spells and incantations, pushing me to the brink of my abilities. The memories of Lumos, Protego, Wingardium Leviosa, and more advanced spells such as Stupefy flood my mind.

My father was obsessed with awakening the Nidhogg blood inside of me, and he put me through countless Viking-like rituals and tests. As a final exam, he made me create the trinket that now rests in my hand, imbued with the power to activate my blood potential at the cost of my lifespan. The power surging through me is undeniable, but it also fuels a grudge against my father's obsession.

The memories flooding my mind don't stop at my father's teachings; I also remember the Nidhogg dragon abilities he awakened within me through his brutal rituals. The power to control and manipulate fire, summon fierce gusts of wind, and partially transform into a Nidhogg's form. However, the transformation is partially terrifying and results in a loss of control. In millennia, no other Nielsen has achieved the feat of a partial transformation into a Nidhogg.

As I focus on my memories, I also recall moments with my family. I remember playing Quidditch with my brothers, studying magic with my sisters, and listening to my parents' stories about their adventures as young wizards and witches. Despite the insufferable memories, the nostalgic feeling of my family's warmth brings a sense of comfort to me.

As the pain subsides, I find myself amazed at the power and knowledge within me. I can't help but feel a pull to leave Hogwarts, to test my newfound abilities, and secondarily complete my father's request.

"Are you sure about this, Charles?" Huginn, one of my pet ravens, asks in Wingwhisper as he perches on my shoulder.

"I am," I reply, patting his feathers. "I need to do this on my own, without anyone else interfering."

Muninn, my other raven, joins us on my other shoulder. "We'll come with you, of course."

I nod, "Thank you, my friends. Let's go."

As we walk out of the dormitory I see Emma sitting in the common room.

"Hey, Em," I say, trying to keep my voice casual as I approach her. "I need you to cover for me for a few hours."

"What? Why?" she asks, her expression curious.

"I can't tell you," I say, shaking my head. "But it's important. And I'm trusting you to keep it a secret."

Emma looks at me skeptically, but after a moment, she nods. "Okay, I'll cover for you. But you have to tell me what's going on later."

"I will," I say, giving her a grateful smile. "Thank you."

We part ways, and I leave the castle walls discreetly with a disillusionment charm.

"Huginn! Muninn!" I call out the names of my ravens, and they take flight, their feathers now tinted with a deep purple hue.

As I journey towards the Forbidden Forest, I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and fear. I'm not sure what I'll find, or what dangers I may face. With my ravens by my side, I approach the forest, ready for whatever challenges may come my way.
