25 Chapter 25

The guide took a seat on the couch across from us as the servant sets out cups of steaming tea along with small sandwiches and biscuits, which Erza immediately started eating, much to Julia's bemusement.

"Well, we have many competitions taking place," The guide said. "Is there anything in particular you are interested in?"

I thought about it for a second. I wanted to give any fighting competitions a try along with any strength-based competitions as did Erza.

"Do have any fighting competitions like a free for all?"

He nodded. "The battle royale is a very popular event. It's exactly as it sounds, the participants are sent into a pocket realm and must fight one another. The last standing wins."

"And this is to the death?" I questioned.

"Oh no." The guide shook his head. "When you get sent over into the pocket world, it not actually the real, just a copy that you control, that way you can go all out without fear of repercussions, though such things as sexual assault and torture are not allowed."

Well, that was good to know, not that I was worried about anything happening to Erza. With her strength and skill, no one would get the chance, and I could turn any part of my body into blades so I'd like to see someone try and force me to do anything like that.

"Anything else?" I asked as one of the servants handed me a cup, which I sipped from.

"There's also the gong ringing, which is solely a strength-based contest, and of course the dueling tournament which actually begins in two days, and ends the same day the guild clash starts. The finale of the duels is sort of an opening for the guild clash."

"I see," I muttered. That sounded perfect, as not only was quite strong, but a series of duels sounded like a great way to increase my skill, and for Erza to sweep through, though who knew maybe she might get a challenge. I didn't need to look at Erza to know she was interested as it was clear on her face, which was covered in crumbs. One of the maids offered her a napkin that she used to clean her face.

"Well." Julia turned to me. "Do you want to participate? I'm sure our guide can get it all sorted without needing to wait in a line."

There was a hint of a threat in her words as she glanced over at the guide, who quickly nodded, a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead. "Of course, of course, if you can just hand me your names, and age then I can get you two sorted."

I turned to Erza with a questioning look. "You up for it then?"

"Of course." She grinned. "I haven't had a proper challenge yet."

After a few more questions about some of the other competitions, we handed him our names and age, before heading out and back to the carriage. In total, I'd signed up for 4 competitions while Erza had signed up for seven. She was more skilled them me, and with my limited powers at the moment some of the competitions just weren't for me like the blade art competition, which was essentially like a talent show where you showed off your skill with a weapon, and did fancy maneuvers and moves and whatnot. If I'd known to dance then maybe I would've signed up for it.

As we were leaving I opened up my status, and almost tripped over my food in surprise.

I was surprised I'd gotten another p-ticket so soon and overjoyed, not to mention the increase in C-points. The h-ticket from earlier was still waiting to be used and I actually had a plan so that Julia wouldn't ask too many questions or get suspicious.

"Ermm, Julia, do you mind if I give a friend the location of your manor. We were actually meant to meet them in the city."

"As long as they are a friend of yours and you can vouch for them then I suppose it's fine," Julia said. "How will you contact them?"

"Magic," I quickly replied. "I have a link with them."

"Another surprise." Julia smirked at me. "What else are you hiding? Actually never mind, your secrets are your own, and I like surprises. You may tell them they are welcome at the manor, i will give the guards a description, what does she-"

"No need," I interrupted. "I'll know when she's close."

Julia looked me in the eyes for a second before slowly nodding. I knew she hadn't bought everything I'd said, but she seemed to be respecting my privacy and holding back questions, which I was grateful for.

We made it back to the carriage, and although there seemed to be more to explore, I felt a bit tired and worn out, and from the look of it, the others felt the same. I also really wanted to use my new p-ticket and the h-ticket I had. No matter what happened, I would get a new power and a new ally. Besides, it's not as if we couldn't come back another day to explore.

"You should take a quick rest when we get back to the manor if you're tired," Julia said. "We do have to attend Lady Malena's party after all."

"I'm not psychically tired," I replied. It would take a lot to get actually tired with this body. "Just a bit worn out. I want to relax for a bit and then we can head to the party. What should I expect?"

"A lot of fake smiles, and conversation along with almost everybody trying to figure out just who you are." Julia smiled. "Oh and don't forget the pride, arrogance, and constant back and forth that will undoubtedly be occurring should any rival families attend."

So it should be an interesting night then. Certainly, unlike anything I'd ever experienced before.
