Chapter 34

Silence filled the surroundings as the fight came to an end.

Jisuk and Subin walked closer to Jiwoo and Owen, who were standing close to the corpse of their enemy.

"Is it finally over?" Jisuk asked

"You idiot!" Subin smacked Jisuk's back. "Don't jinx it! What if he just stands back again and says, "Oh, how impressive" or something?"

Jisuk covered his mouth immediately.

"Pftt" Owen laughed at the antics of these two.

Even in such a situation, they do not fail to provide comedy.

Jiwoo, on the other hand, was silently staring at the ground below him, averting his gaze from the dead body lying close to him.

This was the first time he had witnessed someone die. And he was the one who helped kill him.

Ever since he became part of the awakened society, he has never killed anyone. In fact, he stopped his mentor from killing his enemies multiple times after they were defeated.

If he could, he would have tried to stop Owen from killing this guy as well; however, in the end, the final call was in Owen's hands only, and he decided to kill him. Though he still thinks that Owen went too far by taunting him with his dead brother,. The enemy was already defeated. According to him, this was unnecessary.

But Jiwoo has heard from multiple people, including his mentor, that the world of the awakened is cruel and the fate of the weak rests in the hands of the strong.

Which is why he isn't voicing his opinions, keeping his mouth shut, and trying to distract himself from the current situation.

There is a lot for him to think about. Things got out of hand very quickly, and all of them didn't know what exactly had happened. How did a simple search for Wooin's mentor lead them to have a death match with an international criminal?

'Wait. Wooin!!'

"We shouldn't stay here. Wooin is still out there. Something could have happened to him." Jiwoo shouted.

Jisuk and Subin widened their eyes in realisation.

"Don't worry about that." Owen said, making all three of them look at him. "That's already been taken care of. He will be fine."

A few hours later

Jiwoo, Jisuk, Subin, and Owen were all inside a hospital room after getting their injuries treated.

Subin had a few broken ribs and an arm fracture, and Jisuk had second-degree burns on his chest and a few broken ribs.

Jiwoo had injured his arms terribly. Not only were there second-degree burns, but there were also many fractures in both of his fists.

Owen, on the other hand, had the fewest injuries. With only a little stinging sensation and small scratches on his arms, which would heal in just one day.

On the other hand,

"Didn't you say that we didn't have to worry about him?" Jisuk asked

"Yeah. You were so confident while saying that. You must be pretty embarrassed now." Subin said it with a little laugh. Owen was wondering how exactly this happened as he watched Wooin being escorted inside the room in a gurney with bandages covering his entire body and even his head.

"Uhhh....."

Owen was at a loss for words.

"He suffered a very severe blow to the head that almost fractured his skull. It will take him a while to properly recover." The doctor said that and left the room.

Inhyuk Goo continued the explanation: "We found him in an alley away from the fight along with Dr. Delein. Wooin was under the mind control of the enemy and attacked Dr. Delein and Mrs. Jinah, who went there to fight Loberne."

[A/N: I forgot that the mind control guy's name was revealed and that it was Loberne. I found that out while re reading the Manhwa.]

"Who is Mrs. Jinah?" Jiwoo asked

"That's my mom," Owen replied. "Apparently that Loberne guy had some unfinished business with her, so I called her before joining in on the fight."

"And because of that, we were able to take Loberne in without any complications. He is currently under our custody." Inhyuk replied.

"I see," Jiwoo said

"Well, it could have ended a lot worse for him." Subin said about Wooin's condition.

"That's very true."

Jiyoung Yoo entered the hospital room.

"Sis?" Jisuk said

"Unnie?" Subin said

"Noona!!" Jiwoo exclaimed in happiness

Jiyoung looked at each of them and passed a little smile towards Jiwoo, who greeted her so enthusiastically before landing her gaze at Owen.

Owen, on the other hand, was amused by Jiwoo and Jiyoung's reactions towards each other and started smirking internally at the prospect of teasing a world ranker.

"Mr. Knight, will you please follow me? I wish to speak to you in private." Jiyoung said

"Alright." Owen said and followed her out the door, leaving everyone else in the room except Inhyuk confused.

"What do they have to talk about in private?" Jiwoo asked Inhyuk.

"Although this was an emergency and an unavoidable circumstance, an outsider used his awakened powers in our country without our permission. Although we at Shinhwa have no problem with Mr. Knight using his powers in this case, we still need to provide an explanation to other groups."

"They are simply going to have a meeting with Mr. Park from the union and set their stories straight." Inhyuk said.

"Oh, I see," Jiwoo said. "That's not going to be a problem, though. Right?"

"Even if they do get their stories straight, dealing with Baekdu will be a hassle." Jisuk commented

"Yeah. They might try to undermine and bring down Shinhwa's influence and power if this is not dealt properly." Subin said

"Will they really do that?" Jiwoo asked

"You remember Sucheon, right? That guy is from Baekdu, and his father, the chairman of Baekdu, has an even worse character than him." Jisuk said

"But I thought all the groups in our country were united, unlike the outside." Jiwoo said

"They are, but they are united in the sense that they won't outright attack each other and would fight alongside each other when faced with external forces. But that is just how far the unity goes. The groups still try to gain more power and influence, but through political strategies and schemes rather than battle." Inhyuk explained

"I see." Jiwoo said, lowered his head to the side, and looked at his 'cat', who was munching on a cat snack while sitting comfortably on a chair.

Inhyuk too looked at the cat with heart eyes but resisted his urge to rub the cat's chubby belly and left the room to follow after Jiyoung Yoo and Owen Knight.
