7 Chapter 7: Does Our Home Have Everything?

After buying some snacks for her son and daughter, Elena led the siblings to stroll around Diagon Alley while enjoying their snacks, a practice they referred to as "snack-strolling."

Since Bell wanted to check out every shop they passed, their progress was rather slow.

During their outing, Bell purchased a beginner-friendly broomstick and spent a long time in the pet shop. He really wanted a pet but eventually decided against it, considering that Shanna was still too young and might get hurt by a pet.

In a magic props store, Bell was keenly looking around with Shanna.

"Mom, how does a Remembrance Ball sense the person holding it and determine if they've forgotten something?" Bell curiously asked.

Hearing this question, Elena was taken aback.

"How does it work? I have no idea! I've never even thought about such a question!"

Elena coughed twice, trying hard to maintain her dignity as a mother.

"It's achieved by casting some powerful magic on a glass ball, and then it can sense it," she replied, somewhat unconvincingly.

"What's wrong? Do you have any other questions?" Sensing Elena's annoyance, Bell quickly backed down.

"No, Mom. I want this," Bell pointed at the Remembrance Ball.

"We have one at home. I'll give it to you to play with later," Elena said.

"Okay."

Soon, Bell found another magic item he was interested in - the Sneakoscope.

"Mom, how does the Sneakoscope... um... Mom, I want this," Bell said.

Elena felt as though her dignity as a mother had been slighted.

She squinted at Bell for a moment, then smiled and said, "We have one at home. I'll give it to you to play with later."

"We have one too? I like it," Bell thought to himself.

Bell continued to stroll with Shanna.

"Mom, what about this two-way mirror..."

"We have one at home," Elena promptly interrupted Bell. She realized that her explanation earlier was somewhat strained, and if Bell asked how the two-way mirror was made, what would she say? She had no idea! Hogwarts didn't teach her that...

Yes! It's all Hogwarts' fault! Because of Hogwarts' curriculum arrangement, she didn't know! It's definitely not her fault. After all, she was prefect back in the day, a top student!

"...Do we have everything at home?" Bell asked, surprised.

"It doesn't hurt to have some extra magical items. So, we basically have one or two of everything available on the market. Some rare items that can't be bought are also accumulated," Elena said matter-of-factly.

For his mother's ruthlessly extravagant remarks, Bell could only admire her silently.

Since they had everything at home, Bell lost interest in looking around further. As lunchtime approached, Bell decided to buy a few books from Flourish and Blotts and conclude their shopping for the day.

However...

"We have a library on the fourth floor of the house with more books than the bookstore. If you want to read any books, you can find them there," Elena said.

"...," Bell was speechless.

"It's almost lunchtime. How about Mom takes you to the Leaky Cauldron for lunch? It's famous, and although it's a pub, the food is quite good," Elena suggested.

'I can't help but think that anyone could cook better than British cuisine, even with their eyes closed.' Bell thought to himself. But of course, he dared not say it out loud on the street, lest he be beaten up.

"No! Shanna is still so young; how can we take her to a pub? Besides, I heard that there are hardly any decent people in the Leaky Cauldron. What if Shanna is led astray? Let's go home for lunch. Shanna is tired, and after lunch, she should take a nap," Bell insisted.

After some consideration, Elena realized that she had been somewhat thoughtless. So, she graciously led her two children home, ending their shopping trip for the day.

After lunch, Shanna, who had been tired from the long outing, fell asleep immediately.

Although Bell was also tired, he was very excited about getting his wand on the first day. He couldn't put it down and spent some time performing maintenance on it before finally preparing to try his first spell.

He flipped through "Standard Spells, Beginner's Edition" and found the first spell introduced in the book - the Lumos spell. Although Bell had memorized the incantation and wand movement for the spell a long time ago, since it was his first time casting a spell, he decided to review it again for safety.

After a few confident swings to ensure there were no issues, Bell stood up firmly and went to the garden.

"Lumos!"

Bell slowly waved his wand according to the book's instructions, firmly pronounced the incantation, and then... he succeeded!?

Looking at the cool-toned light emitted from the wand tip, Bell felt a bit dazed.

Was it really that easy to succeed!?

Bell felt that his previous tension and seriousness seemed like a performance for the blind.

He thought that for the first time casting a spell, he would have to go through numerous difficulties. But... it was just like this!?

Well, in any case, successfully casting a spell was always a good thing. It seemed that he was being overly nervous.

After successfully casting Lumos a few more times, Bell, relieved of mental pressure, was able to perform it quickly and easily.

After all, it was the most basic spell. Perhaps this was normal?

Bell flipped a few pages further back in "Standard Spells, Beginner's Edition" and found the second spell in the book - the Reparo spell.

This time, he wasn't as nervous as before, but he wouldn't let down his guard either. So, after practicing the spell movement a few times, he began casting it officially.

Bell tore off a small corner of the spell book.

"Reparo!"

"...," Bell succeeded again. The torn corner flew back to its original place, merging with the page seamlessly, leaving no trace of being torn.

Hmm... basic spells, routine operation.

Afterwards, Bell tried some slightly more difficult spells, such as the "Severing Charm," "Crushing Curse," and "Petrification Curse." Bell successfully cast them all, but the effects were... more or less nonexistent.

He felt like he understood now. By confidently pronouncing the incantation and guiding the magic through the wand movement, the magic could be successfully cast. It was like doing addition and subtraction on a computer - as long as the correct numbers and formula were input, the correct answer could be obtained.

After studying magic for a while, Bell felt a bit overwhelmed. After all, he was only five years old and had been walking around all day, studying magic for a while. His body was beginning to protest seriously.

"Sigh~! I really miss the days when I was full of vigor! I wonder if my wives in my phone miss me?"

Returning to Shanna's bedroom, Bell lay down on the bed and fell asleep heavily, holding his little sister tightly.
