Chapter 31

Mike and the others were in a bad spot. X23 Superboy and Galatea had shown up demanding their surrender. Logan began to fight Galatea. Well, fight might be a stretch he was getting knocked around like a ping-pong ball after he somehow managed to cut part of her hair off with his claws.

Kitty ticked off superboy and was running through walls while barley avoiding the superstrong teen as he bashed through wall after wall. Mike was shooting X23 in the joints to slow her down. Batgirl was distracting her, switching between close and long range combat.

Mike had several cuts and was bleeding from the near misses with X23's claws. "Damn!"He said as he loaded his last magazine into the Vector. X23 got a lucky hit in wounding Batgirl on the leg, slowing her down

Logan was only still in the fight due to his healing factor. He hadn't gotten a beating this bad since the last time he fought the Hulk. The Supergirl Clone was ticked off. (I only managed to cut one bang jeez). He thought grumpily. "YOU BASTARD!!!!!" She yelled, slamming him into the ground again. Logan swiped at her, managing a shallow cut on her stomach. This only served to agitate her more, and she proceeded to slam Wolverine into every wall and floor she could find with enough force that the entire base was shaking

Kitty was leading superboy through walls doors and everything else. At one point, she phased him through the floor and left him till he broke out. She may not be doing any real damage to him, but she was keeping his attention away from the others. She did not know how long she could keep this up. Between Superboy smashing all of the walls and Galatea smashing Wolverine through the walls that he missed, the base was becoming increasingly unstable.

"Help is here!" They heard Miss Martian yell as she burst back onto the scene followed by Wonder Woman and Green Lantern(Hal Jordan). Green Lantern yelled to the others that "We only have to keep these three occupied for a few more minutes. Other heroes were minutes out all responding to the distress signal Miss Martian had broadcast."

Green Lantern flew towards Superboy, making Hardlight constructs nonstop, trapping him and preventing him from causing further damage. Hal was sweating with concentration as he focused on making his creations as durable as possible.

Wonder Woman began to engage X23 in close combat matching her blow for blow. Apparently, the metal that her armor was forged from was one of the few metals that were hard enough to clash with adamantly. Mike yelled out, "Shouldn't you have helped him?" gesturing towards Wolverine, who was cussing up a storm. "I'm not getting in the middle of that." Wonder Woman said, "Few things can match a passed off kryptonian."

As she was speaking, a read and blue blur came out of nowhere, slamming Galatea into the wall, causing her to let go of Wolverine. Superman had not only arrived but was handling Galatea like a parent dealing with a child throwing a tantrum. Neither Superboy or Galatea held a candle to him. He was not only more powerful but had years of experience, and it showed.

As the fight continued, Mike asked Miss Martian if she could shut them down like the plan stated. She looked at him. "We don't have a way to contain rogue Kryptonians." She reminded him.

"Not exactly true." Mike said shiftily, "After hearing about Zod and the other Kryptonians who tend to cause trouble I may have built a couple of red sun chambers to contain them if they ever became a threat to Morganrote."

"We will talk about that later," Superman stated, while glancing at Mike, "What matters is we have a way to contain them. Go ahead Miss Martian shut them down."

Miss Martian nodded then closed her eyes. The three clones dropped like puppets with their strings cut. Slumping down to the ground unconscious.

POV Eiling

Eiling watched in horror as his three weapons were neutralized so easily. (How can this be? Those three were meant to be weapons against the league how could they fall so easily.)

Hamilton and Milo had been evacuated less than an hour before due to how valuable they were to Cadmus. Eiling was told to hold the line till all classified documents could be destroyed. Eiling knew the truth he was a scapegoat left here to take the fall for the wrongs that Cadmus had committed.

The government was going to disown him and throw him under the bus. There was no saving him this time he would likely face life in prison or the death penalty. considering how much he knew it was probably going to be the death penalty. That or he wouldn't survive a month in prison either stabbed or found dead by apparent suicide.

As these realizations occurred to him, he made 2 decisions. One cost him his life, and the other cost him what was left of his reputation.

"Evacuate the base. Activate Clean Slate protocol." Eiling bellowed as he ran to a safe in his office. It contained a vial the scientist said were useless. He picked it up and downed in in one gulp.

Elsewhere in the base, heavy-duty lead doors swung open slowly, and a loud roar was heard throughout the base as a massive shadow broke through the ceiling and towered over the base.
