chapter 9: a third dragon
"What is it?" Tatsou asked
"I'm a dragon too." Duncan whispered
"What?!" Tatsou yelled
"You can talk to him if you want to." Duncan said as he stepped back
"But how?" Tatsou asked
"Well come here." Duncan said as he reached his hand out
"Alright." Tatsou said as he grabbed his hand and closed his eyes
Then he was somewhere else.
"Where am I?" Tatsou asked
"Hello." Haku said
"A dragon." Tatsou said as he looked at him. "Wait where's Duncan?"
"He's here." Haku said. "What is your name?"
"Tatsou." Tatsou said
"Hi there Tatsou." Duncan said as he came over
"Where are we?" Tatsou asked
"In my mind and his." Duncan said as he pointed to Haku
"It's like you and your dragon." Haku said
"What is your dragon?" Duncan asked
"Xiuhcoatl." Tatsou said
"You mean the dragon god!" Haku yelled
"Yes I am." Tatsou said
"What's going on?" Duncan asked
"Uh something is coming." Haku said
"What is?" Duncan asked
"Good bye." Haku said as Tatsou disappeared
He opened his eyes.
"Duncan hey you ok." Tatsou said as he looked at him
"Yes I'm ok I just need some sleep here soon." Duncan replied
"Come out here I can smell you." Tatsou said
"Hey there." a man said as he came out
"Captain?" Duncan said
"Duncan where have you been I have a mission for you." the Captain said
"What is it?" Duncan asked
"Well you have to go with me." the Captain said
"I'm sorry but I can't leave him." Duncan said
"Why?" the Captain asked
"You want to make Lane mad." Duncan said
"True." the Captain said
"Duncan I found something of interest." Haku said
"What is it?" Duncan asked
"Captain is not normal." Haku said
"Captain are you ok?" Duncan asked
"Why no I'm not. Not with this dragon here." the Captain said as he pulled out his sword and ran at Tatsou. "You dragons took my family away!"
"Captain wait!" Duncan yelled
The Captain started coming closer and closer to Tatsou.
"No!" Tatsou yelled as a shield came up around him
"Haku what's happening?" Duncan asked
"I don't know but that's not his magic it's something else." Haku said
"I'm sorry I don't know what I did wrong!" Tatsou yelled
"You look like him the one who killed them!" the Captain yelled as he started hitting the shield
"I didn't kill them." Tatsou whispered
"Captain stop!" Duncan yelled as he came over and pulled him away
"No let me kill him!" the Captain yelled
Tatsou put down his shield and started running.
"Duncan let go." the Captain said
"I'm sorry but I can't do that." Duncan said
"Well." the Captain said as he punched Duncan's stomach
Duncan let go of him and fell to the ground.
"Duncan!" Ella yelled as she came running up to him Zoey and Caleb were behind her
"You guys stay here." Duncan said as he got up
"What about you?" Zoey asked
"I have to get Tatsou before Captain kills him." Duncan said as he started running
"Duncan what are you planing?" Haku asked
He noticed a cliff and started running toward it and jumped.
"Now!" Duncan yelled
"Alright." Haku said as he changed them to his (awakened) dragon form
As Tatsou was running he took the bandage off his wing.
"Hope I can fly." Tatsou said to himself
Then he reach a cliff.
"Great." Tatsou said
"Got you cornered now." the Captain said as he walked over to him
Tatsou started backing up toward the edge.
"Haku how far are we?" Duncan asked
"Not far." Haku said
"Thank you Haku." Duncan said
"Well what will you do?" the Captain said he moved in closer
"Jump." Tatsou said as he jumped back and fell off the cliff
Tatsou rolled so he could catch the air and he tried to use his wing.
"Come on work, let me fly." Tatsou said to himself
"Haku I don't think we're going t make it." Duncan said
"Don't think so." Haku said
Then before he hit the ground he started to sort of fly.
"Duncan go get him." Haku said
"Right." Duncan said as he got under him
"Thanks." Tatsou said as he landed on his back
"Come back ...here." the Captain said as he looked over the edge to noticed Duncan
"Hey let's go." Haku said
Duncan flew back to the building.
"Ella you back yet!" Duncan yelled as he changed to his human form
Tatsou flew to the ground sort of.
"Hey Tatsou you doing alright?" Duncan asked he came over to him
"Yes I'm alright it just hurts." Tatsou said as he looked at him
"What hurts?" Duncan asked
"My wing." Tatsou said as he looked down
"Haku can you tell my anything?" Duncan asked
"I can't sense Xiuhcoatl in him." Haku said
"What do you mean?" Duncan asked
"Xiuhcoatl has a every strong presence but I didn't sense him." Haku said
"So it's like he's gone." Duncan said
"Yes." Haku said
"Duncan I need to find them." Tatsou said
"Who?" Duncan asked
"My friends." Tatsou said
"First off you can't even fly right." Duncan said
"I know but." Tatsou said
"Duncan you're back!" Caleb yelled as he came out the door
"Hey." Duncan said
Ella came running out at him Zoey followed her.
"Do you want me to help?" Ella asked
"Yes I do." Duncan said as he waved her over
"Alright." Ella said as she came over to him
"Tatsou sit still for a minute." Duncan said
"Here." Ella said as she came over and started using magic on Tatsou
"What are you doing?" Tatsou asked as he looked back
"She's healing your wing so you can go and find them." Duncan said
"Well I have a question do you want to meet him they can come too." Tatsou said as he looked at Caleb and Zoey
"Anna can come too." Duncan said
"Yes." Tatsou said
"Alright I need to go and get her." Duncan said
"That should be good." Ella said as she backed up
"Thank you." Tatsou said as he stretched out his wings
"You're welcome." Ella said as she looked at his wings
"Go and get her we will stay here and wait." Tatsou said as he looked at Duncan
"Thanks." Duncan said as he started to run off but stopped
"Duncan!" Anna yelled as she came running up to him
"Anna why are you here?" Duncan said
"The glaive is coming all of them why?" Anna said as she got up in his face
"Don't know." Duncan said as he looked away
"You did something didn't you." Anna said as she moved that way
"Duncan we have to go." Tatsou said as he came up behind him
"Duncan what's going on?" Anna asked
"Caleb, Zoey come here." Duncan said as he waved them over
"Yes." Caleb said
"Find how far they are." Duncan said as he looked at him
"Alright." Caleb said as he ran off and turned invisible
"Anna you have to listen to me alright." Duncan said faced her
"Ok." Anna said
"I'm a dragon and I don't have enough time to explain." Duncan said
"Duncan!" Caleb said as he turned visible and ran to him
"Yes." Duncan said as he faced him
"They're all coming." Caleb said
"They're here." Tatsou said as he looked into the trees
"Where's the other dragon at." the Captain said as he came out
Then a knife came flying out of the trees.
"Duncan look out." Tatsou said as he put a shield up around them and the knife fell to the ground
"Duncan he hasn't recovered his magic so only his physical body has recovered so this shield won't hold for long." Haku said. "So we must leave now."
"Alright we're going. Haku if you would." Duncan said
"Alright." Haku said
Then Duncan changed to his (awakened) dragon form and Tatsou grew the shield with him.
"The dragon!" the Captain yelled
"Get on." Duncan said
Emily, Zoey and Caleb climb onto him.
"Anna come on." Duncan said
"I can't hold this shield forever." Tatsou said as he looked over
"Kill them!" the Captain yelled
"Come on you need to get going I will follow behind you. Anna you need to get on or they will kill you too." Tatsou said as he looked at her
"R..right." Anna said as she climbed onto him
"Duncan go I got your back." Tatsou said
"Thanks." Duncan said as he started running to the cliff Tatsou followed behind him
Duncan started to fly up and Tatsou followed behind him.
"Hey why didn't you tell me you're a dragon?" Anna asked
"I couldn't do it." Duncan said
"Why?" Anna asked
"I was afraid to do it." Duncan said
"Uh something is wrong with him." Ella said as she pointed to Tatsou
"I can't stay awake." Tatsou said to himself as he tried to keep from falling asleep
He started going lower and lower.
"Night." Tatsou said as he fell asleep and fell from the sky
"Duncan!" Anna yelled
He turned around and picked him up.
"He's asleep so he's ok." Duncan said
"That's good to know." Anna said
"Where are we going?" Caleb asked
"To Tatsou's friends." Duncan said
"Do you know where they're at?" Zoey asked
"He does." Duncan said as he looked down at him
"Hey when can we eat?" Ella asked
"Let me find a place to land then we can find something to eat." Duncan said
"Alright food!" Caleb yelled
Duncan landed and Zoey, Ella and Anna down then put Tatsou down but he stayed in his dragon form for a bit longer.
"Duncan how long have you been like this?" Anna asked
"When I touched that mysterious rock when we were kids." Duncan said
"What?" Anna asked
"Captain took me out on recon then I found a glowing rock and touched it but when I did it stopped glowing that is when I passed out and didn't wake up for about two days. I do know this father didn't let you come and see me." Duncan said as he changed to his human form
"Yes he wouldn't." Anna said. "But why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know about it til two years later." Duncan said
"Is that why we saved him from that place?" Anna asked
"Yes because I wanted some answers on what happened." Duncan said
"Well I'll go and find some food I'll be back." Anna said as she ran off
"Alright." Duncan said
"You shouldn't have let her go alone." Tatsou whispered
"What do you mean?" Duncan said as sat down next to him
He sat up and held out his hand and swords appeared.
"So this must be some of his power." Haku said
"What do you mean?" Duncan said
"Don't worry about it." Haku said
"Come out here or I'll kill you." Tatsou tried to say
"So this is what became of you pitiful dragon you might've been alive for 107 years but you can't stand it can you." a man said as he had a knife held up to Anna's neck
"Let her go or all these swords will go threw your body, I really do want to kill anyone else but if I have to I will." Tatsou said as he got up and faced him
"You know how many people you killed now." the man said
Duncan disappeared and came up behind the man and kicked him and he let go of Anna.
"Anna come on." he said as he disappeared and beside Tatsou and Anna went there to
"Get going I'll follow here soon." Tatsou said
"Ella, Zoey, Caleb come on." Duncan said as he picked up Zoey
"Right." Ella said as she turned around
"There." the man said as he threw his knife and stabbed her in the back
"No!" Tatsou yelled
"Ella hey come on." Caleb said as he came over to her
"Duncan." Haku said
"Yes." Duncan said
"He's going to lose it." Haku said
"What do you mean?" Duncan said
"Die!" Tatsou yelled as he swords attacked him
"Tatsou what happened to him?" Anna asked
"Come on let's go." Duncan said as he picked up Caleb
"I'll get Ella." Anna said as she picked her up
Duncan and Anna disappeared.
"Oh come on let me see more of your rage." the man said
"Shut up." Tatsou said
"Remember how I kill her." the man said
"Shut up already." Tatsou said as his sword stabbed the shoulder
The man fell to the ground.
"Remember this face because next time I'll kill you." Tatsou said as he flew away
"Still the same well get you for a third time." the man said
"Hey do you think Tatsou's ok?" Anna asked
"Don't know." Duncan said
"Duncan we need to find Xiuhcoatl." Haku said
"Why?" Duncan asked
"We need to find out his past." Haku said
"Do we." Duncan said
"Yes." Haku said
They stopped then they heard the bushes rustle behind them.
"Who's there?" Anna asked
"It's me." Tatsou said as he came out
"Tatsou" Caleb said as Duncan put him down along with Zoey
"Just stay away from me for a while would you." Tatsou said
"Why?" Anna asked
"I just don't want to hurt anyone ok." Tatsou said
"Duncan there is a strange aura around him at this moment not like waligo there wasn't one at that time." Haku said
"What do you mean?" Duncan asked
"He is dangerous at this time so better wait before we move on." Haku said
"Alright." Duncan said
"Duncan what do we do?" Anna asked
"We wait til he is alright before we go anywhere." Duncan said
Five minutes later.
"Hey you alright to go?" Duncan asked
"Yes let's go but I'm going to fly tho." Tatsou said
"Alright let's go." Duncan said as he changed to his (awakened) dragon form Anna put Ella in his hand and Caleb and her climbed on. "let's go."
Tatsou changed and they both flew up.
"Tatsou you lead the way to your friends ok." Duncan said but there was no response but he flew in front
"Ok?"Anna said
"Don't worry about it." Duncan said
"It's always my fault that someone gets hurt or killed." Tatsou said to himself
"Where are we?" Caleb asked
"I sense Xiuhcoatl's presence and it's close." Haku said
"I can too." Duncan said
Then they noticed a big house.
"That's a big house." Caleb said as he moved up
Then Tatsou started going down.
"I guess that's the place." Duncan said
They landed and Duncan let everyone off then changed to his human form.
"Echo there's people here with Tatsou." Emily said as she looked out the window
"Tatsou." Echo said as she went out the door and ran to him and Xiuhcoatl was on her shoulder
"Hey how you doing?" Tatsou asked
She came running up to him and slapped him across the face.
"I told you to come with us!" she yelled
"Sorry but if I did, I would've not found him." Tatsou said as he pointed to Duncan
"Hi there." Duncan said
"Hey what are we going to do with Ella?" Anna asked
"Well come with me I will help." Emily said as James followed her
"Alright." Anna said as she followed
Flame came up beside Echo.
"Still remember our promise." Tatsou asked
"Yes I do." Flame said
"Hey Tatsou what do you mean by found him?" Echo asked
"He's a dragon like us." Tatsou said
"You don't look like a dragon." Echo said
"Well that's a long story." Duncan said
"Haku it's good to see you again." Xiuhcoatl said
"Duncan's blood is just a pinch of dragon." Tatsou said
"Is she too?" Echo asked
"No she is my little sister but she has no dragon blood I got Haku from touching a stone and I have no regrets." Duncan said
"Duncan what's going to happen to Ella?" Caleb asked
"Who are they?" Flame asked
"They are not human." Xiuhcoatl said
"Yes they're not they don't have families either so I took care of them." Duncan said
"Their forms are broken." Xiuhcoatl said
"Yes the only one that's not is Ella." Duncan said
"If you two want I'll take you inside to see her." Flame said
"Ok." Zoey whispered very quietly
They went in and Echo, Duncan and Tatsou stayed outside.
"So what do we do now?" Echo asked
"I want to see if Ella gets better." Duncan said
"Alright then come on let's go in then." Echo said
They went in and Duncan looked up and around the house.
"It's bigger inside than outside." Duncan said
"Flame come here will you." Tatsou said
"Yes what is it?" he asked as he came over
"Your parents- well how can I put this. They were never real they were made up." Tatsou said
"What do you mean?" Flame asked
"They were made up the stone, it has the power to do that and I'm sorry I didn't tell you when I meet you." Tatsou said
"So they were never real." Flame said
"Yes." Tatsou said
"So who gave birth to me?" Flame asked
"Don't know." Tatsou said. "But who ever it was they knew about something."
"Hey Tatsou where's Ella?" Duncan asked as he came over
"Hey Duncan Ella's going to be ok." Anna said as she came out of a room
He touched he's knife that was behind him then teleported in front of Anna.
"Where is she?" Duncan asked
"How did he?" Flame asked
"She's in the room down the hall the last door." Anna said
Then he did it again.
"Hey how did he do that?" Flame asked
"That is his skill teleport he can only use it while he is holding his knife or touching it." Anna said
"That sounds amazing to do that!" Flame yelled
"Why didn't he use it to get here?" Tatsou asked
"He has to have a clear picture of where he's going and he calls it a curse." Anna said
"What do you mean?" Flame asked
"He apparently had it a long time I didn't know about it til I joined the glaive." Anna said
"Hey I have a question." Tatsou asked
"Yes what is it?" Anna asked
"Why does the captain hate dragons?" Tatsou asked
"Don't know." Anna said
"Ok." Tatsou said as he looked down
