Chapter 15: Good and Evil

00:50 AM 'The Citadel, Gotham City:

Arias was seated cross legged near a small pond in his estate conversing with a lovely voice in his mind under the tranquil sky.

'Àpeiro would it be possible for you to teach me how to manipulate different energies? I don't need to excel but I may face a magician sooner or later and mere physical prowess may not be enough?'

Àpeiro was quick to give her answer to his request.

'It can be done, you are a being unlike any other now so your body is already capable of manipulating all kinds of energies but the difficulty in controlling energies varies. We can begin tomorrow if you so wish I simply need to arrange all my knowledge pertaining to such to make a suitable method for you alone'

The lovely voice resounded in arias mental domain. He let out a small smile and relaxed a little at the thought. Lately he had been pondering about areas where he was lacking that could be a hindrance . When he thought about it clearly he realized he had no proper offense against magic which he thought could cost him should he face someone pro efficient in it.

Attempting to learn how to control his newly given power proved to be a challenge on his on. Àpeiro too found it somewhat challenging to teach as her understanding of things was on a completely different and complex level. Before Arias could ponder on the situation more, Àpeiro's voice alerted him of something.

'Do you feel that Ari?'

She asked but arias looked puzzled and shook his head.

'What am I supposed to be feeling?'

Arias curiously answered. Àpeiro grew silent a bit before responding.

'Space is being distorted hundreds of miles away from here, what is odd is it is not hundreds of miles towards the sky, this anomaly is happening on the planet which can only mean it's not natural'.

'Distorting space? they are very few people I can think of who can achieve such a feat...Lex Luthor?....Mr Terrific ?....Ray Palmer?...all of them have the brains and resources to pull that off..unless the cause is magic or even a divine entity?'.

Arias went silent pondering possible causes based on what he knew about the dc universe but could not find a definitive answer.

He slowly stood up and asked Àpeiro for the location..she fell silent for a few seconds and her voice resounded in his mind once more.

'It is coming from the Namib Desert of the African Continent'.

Hearing the location Arias's figure began to be rise into the air before flying off to the location.

He flew at break neck speed, he new many individuals who could detect such an anomaly but none as fast Àpeiro meaning if he acted fast he could avoid said individuals. It didn't take him long to arrive and see the anomaly within sight. As he got closer the gravity shifted values numerous times.

'You must hurry and retrieve that metal orb in the center it seems able to avoid the changes the anomaly that surrounds it is causing. The energy is growing more unstable so it will soon shift to another space'

Àpeiro casually assessed. Arias pushed through the many oddities he felt when passing through the energies around the orb with ease and managed to grab hold of it and and fly out of with it.

After doing so he took off into the sky and left the scene returning to the citadel. Despite having no physical damage, Arias felt extremely odd after leaving the anomaly.

'How is it possible for gravity, my mass and even for the air composition to change constantly?'

Arias ignored the disorienting feeling which slowly began to fade.

'Anomalies are not bound by normal laws hence there name, in such spaces many things are possible'

The lovely voice quickly explained.

Arias slowly nodded then focused his attention to the orb in his arms.

'And what is this?The core'?.

Àpeiro lovely voice disagreed with Arias's guess before answering him.

'It is a vessel, there is a living being inside, the anomaly most likely caused the vessel to shrink to that state I suggest you place it down, stand back and wait for the energies around it to dispel'.

Arias followed Àpeiro's instructions and placed the orb shaped vessel down before standing a 100 meters away and observing for any changes.

At the same time back in the namib desert.

Several figures gathered near the anomaly.

"What is that?"

Asked the figure clad in a red costume with a lightening crest at his chest,this was The Flash.

"I don't know I initially thought you where the cause?"

A figure sporting black and grey with bat symbol at his chest responded. This was of course The Batman.

"From what I can tell this thing isn't caused by the speed force, otherwise it would have vanished already"

The Flash shook his head in response before the turning towards a beautiful black haired woman with deep blue eyes, she had a lasso and sword at her side and a tiara on her head.

"Any thoughts Diana?".

She gave him puzzled look as she moved her hands to her waist.

"I thought you didn't believe God's and magic Barry?".

The flash simply shrugged.

"I don't but doesn't hurt to hear you out".

Diana or rather WonderWoman let out a humph before voicing her thoughts.

"No I've never heard of or seen anything like this..perhaps it's alien?"

As she said this she turned to a man further ahead who was coming from the anomaly's direction.

The man dressed in blue and red with a large S on his chest and also shook his head.

"I've never seen anything like this in kryptonian archives. The pressure, density of air, gravity and temperature are all constantly changing".

Coming to no conclusion, the group began to contemplate the matter.

"I could go grab one of friends from star labs to come take look"

The flash suggested but before the others could respond the anomaly began to shrink and enlarge rapidly while shooting out crackles that changed the atomic composition of anything they touched.

The team quickly retreated backwards before the anomaly vanished.

"Ummm what just happened?"

The flash asked but got no response from his teammates.

Back in Gotham just as the anomaly in the Namib desert vanished, the orb that laid on the ground a 100 meters away from Arias began to enlarge. Arias stood alert when it finally stopped growing, it was roughly 6 meters in diameter with an outline of a rectangle on its surface which arias could only assume was the door.

The outline began to glow and it started to move making an entrance. Black smoke began to surround Arias but he soon dispersed when the lovely voice in his mental space quelled his worries.

'The being inside is mortal'.

As the entrance fully opened a woman stood at it's entrance looking directly at arias. She had long purple hair and bright amber eyes. She wore a strange suit that outlined her whole body perfectly highlighting her every asset. She soon walked out of the orb and stopped about 30 meters away from arias.

"Where am I? And who or what are you"

She asked as her eyes moved to scope her surroundings.

"Earth, but not the one you know Dr. Veritas"

Arias answered her question after recognizing her. The woman's face showed a look of surprise before she narrowed her eyes.

"Then how do you know me if this isn't the earth I know and how did my shuttle come to be in your possession?"

Arias sighed lightly but responded to her still

"You could say my knowledge is vast, I know many many things about countless worlds, dimensions, realities and even what happens beyond that, as for your orb it appeared in a space anomaly in the Namib desert, I took the orb out before it could vanish and brought it here".

The woman was cautious but Arias had piqued her interest.

"Are you perhaps Kyrptonian or perhaps a race that exists only here and-"

Arias raised his arm to cut off her barrage of questions.

"The simplest way to describe me would be as a cosmic entity like no other, am sure you have many questions and I'll provide answers to your questions in due time but for now all you need to know is I am of no threat to you".

She stopped herself from asking questions before speaking in a neutral tone

"I apologize I just don't feel comfortable lacking in knowledge and information".

Arias too replied in a neutral tone and slowly approached her.

"Don't be its in your nature as the greatest mind of your earth, provided you're still here I'd like to make an offer. Work with me and in return I offer knowledge,resources available to very few and the only limits you'll have are your own".

The woman didn't need to ponder much on Arias's offer as she answered almost immediately while keeping her calm and cool demeanor.

"There's nothing left for me on my earth, my facility and life's work is gone due to the failed experiment that brought me here, even if I had the means as of now am more curious about this world, I thirst for knowledge and new challenges even if I have to learn from the very beginning..I accept your offer."

She walked close to arias and placed her hand on his chest.

"I'm also very curious about what secrets a cosmic being holds".

She said in a soft yet stern voice before releasing her hand and walking towards the entrance to the estate before stopping at the door and looking back at Arias.

"How should I address you? You already know my name but I do not know yours?"

Arias faced her and nodded before answering her.

"It's Arias. Arias Adriel."

The woman nodded before continuing to speak.

"I see. Well then Mr. Adriel, as for my limits..."

She stared at the sky for a moment before looking back and arias and continuing to speak.

"I believe in science above all else. I don't judge things in terms as nebulous and self-limiting as "good" and "evil."
